Azul Beach Resort Negril by Karisma, nestled on the renowned Seven Mile Beach, earns praise for its beautiful beachfront location and overall cleanliness, including well-kept grounds. Guests enjoy the lively atmosphere and engaging entertainment; however, the hotel's charm is somewhat diminished by its dated decor and the need for updates. While the staff is often commended for their friendliness, some travelers experience frustration with slow service and service inconsistencies. Room comfort, amenity availability, and perceived value have received mixed feedback, with several guests expressing dissatisfaction regarding room issues and amenities not meeting luxury expectations.

My husband & I were married at Azul on 2/7/23. We had about 30 people join us and we had the most amazing time. Yes, there were minor maintenance issues like a leaking shower and air conditioner. I also know that we are in Jamaica and not the US. The staff, the beach, the food and drinks were fabulous. Most of the staff went above and beyond to please us and greet us daily. We did not have a butler assigned to us it honestly didn’t matter. Our group always found a place to put towels and the drinks were strong. We enjoyed the crystal clear water and sunshine everyday. We purchased some snorkeling gear from the small shop next to the resort because we snorkeled several times a day. We did also take advantage of the use of kayaks several times. Security was present along the beach and if you didn’t want to talk to the local dealers they would send them on their way. We fully enjoyed eating at Garfield’s for lunches and favored the Italian restaurant at night. We all were able to find food that we enjoyed regardless of the time of day. The staff truly make the resort though. Simone & Dwight helped with our wedding, Bones & Ford kept us laughing and Safari and Antoinette made sure we were well hydrated. It was an amazing trip & we can’t wait to come back!

We stayed between the 8th and 18th March. They stopped all incoming holiday makers while we were there, but to our dismay we were allowed to go home. Dunns river falls and swimming with dolphins a must. The beach front along the hotel is 400 mtrs and has security at either end. You can venture further as all hotels along the 7 mile beach has security who are very helpful. The sea and beach are just as the brochure, fantastic. Shawn the beach attendant always had towels on your beds for you for which we gave him 5 dollars for the stay. The bar staff were full of energy and great fun, especially, Craig, Anieta and one I called Dave. Give them a dollar here and there and you were well looked after. Rooms were very clean and tidied everyday. Never a queue for the well stocked restaurants although the Italian you had to book in advance. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and there was a Tui rep there every day. We are booking again for next year as soon as. Only one downside was the Americans. Some were great, but others with kids were ignorant and thought they deserved to be served first. This won't prevent us from returning. Best bit is no smoking only in designated areas which were very few and far between.

We spent six days and five nights at the resort. The hotel took COVID-19 precautions very seriously. We witnessed them cleaning a room after people departed and also appreciated that rooms are sealed with a safety sticker until the new person checks in. Also, they used an app that allowed us to get as much information as we needed about restaurants, bars, activities and other amenities. There was even an option to order room service from the app.

We enjoyed food from as many of the restaurants based on the schedule. We found ourselves at Mahogany for breakfast and dinner, but we also made it to Di Romagna, Hua Hin and had a private dinner in Garfield Beach House when the weather was too bad for us to have dinner on the beach.

The resort was running a number of promotions for activities, including a discount for spa services which we used for our couples massage.

The staff was really friendly and accommodating. Highlights included learning how to play Ludo Ludi with Anna Kay and other guests. The bartenders by the premium swim up bar (two women whose names I've unfortunately forgotten) were also wonderful! Also, the staff in Mahogany, Necole, Lisa, and Hyacinth and the manager of Hua Hin were helpful especially with my restrictive diet (no beef, no pork).

Although it rained throughout our entire visit, the hotel, staff, and entertainment options (trivia, singers, etc.) helped make it a great vacation.

For those that want the punchline upfront, the beachfront is gorgeous, the grounds of the property are impeccably maintained, and everyone on the staff is very friendly. Conversely, the room was average, service was often extremely slow, and the food arrangements do not justify the cost.

As for specifics, the room was spacious (we had a premium ocean view suite), but rather bland with white walls, commercial flooring and dated furniture. Exacerbating matters was a door that allowed all outside noise to come through all day and night. Although a stocked refridgerator is provided, it consists largely of soda, a few cans of beer, water and a couple of snacks. Bottled water is limited and often took the full day to replace.

Service was often painfully slow. As an example, a hamburger from the food stand at the pool took an hour, even though we were the first to order upon opening. We saw the beach butler at best twice a day despite being at the beach for several hours.

The food and liquor arrangements were the most dissapointing. We paid almost $5,000 for two people for a week. While the resort advertises several restaurants, 2 are more like snack shacks, 3 are buffet only, and 2 others require reservations at all times, which are typically required 48 hours in advance. Of the various restaurants - and we tried them all - the Asian restaurant was the best and of a caliber you would expect. Unfortunately, the others missed the mark, sometimes substantially as in the case of the Italian restaurant.

As for liquor, bottles of wine are not included and must be purchased separately (at substantially marked up prices). The wine included in the meal plan is served only by the glass, is largely only one brand and 2 choices for either red or white. Mixed drinks are light on alcohol and heavy on the mixes.

The last item of note would be the beach and pool practices. We found that guests would come down very early in the morning to place towels on all the chairs, go back to their rooms and not show up until much later in the day - if at all. This practice seems to be condoned by the resort, but can be highly frsutrating when you cannot get a chair or towel, or when certain individuals will reserve multiple chairs throughout the resort.

Booked through Tui who class this hotel as 5* Sensatori, i don’t feel those standards are reached. The hotel itself sells itself as a strong 4* and I think that is more realistic. We landed at 15.45 but reached the hotel at 19.00 after a 2 1/4 hour transfer on a bus!! Check in, room allocation and copying of passports etc is done on the journey which meant you just go to your room upon arrival and your luggage follows later.
I emailed the hotel in advance requesting a quiet room away from the road noise and received a lovely email in return saying my request was noted but could not be guaranteed, upon arrival we were allocated a room which was only 2 away from the road and this was my main reason for not giving a higher score as the road noise between 6am and 10pm was dreadful, constant use of car horns and noisy motorbikes made relaxation and sleep almost impossible.
Basically there are 12 blocks of rooms with a boardwalk all the way along adjacent to the beach, a buffet place and specialist eateries at each end of the resort with bars/snack bars dotted along the way. The resort appeared to split itself with most Americans/Canadians housed at one end and Europeans at the other, TUI use blocks 1+2 for adults only and 3+4 for family’s but they are not for sole use by TUI customers. The beach is lovely but not amazing and did seem very cramped the further you went towards the American end.
We ate in all the restaurants with only the Italian standing out as excellent because of a beautiful steak, the Asian was nice, Ackee’s Caribbean place was ok but very rushed and the buffets were average, nice food but very repetitive.
Rooms were ok for a couple and the round sofa chair on the balcony was lovely to rest on but would have been so much better if not for the traffic noise. The bathroom could be described as a walk in wardrobe with 2 sinks along with 2 glass cubicles which housed a WC and a power shower, no complaints there at all and no damp smells. Within 1 side of the wardrobe were 2 drawers and in 1 of these was a safe that you programmed with your own code, it is quite narrow in depth so cameras etc need the lenses removing.
No problems at all with drinks, all top quality brands and never an issue with availability with entertainment being low key but with excellent artistes.
Finally the staff, such friendly helpful people they make the resort with nothing being to much trouble, I cannot pick out individuals as everybody I encountered deserve to be congratulated on their customer service

I chose Azul Beach Resort Negril as my annual solo birthday travel destination. I went with an all-inclusive as opposed to my usual exploration type trips due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
I was extremely impressed with the property upon arrival. It was gorgeous and the registration staff was courteous and knowledgeable. The rooms were exactly as represented on the website and the property was much larger than I had expected. I loved that regardless of your room choice, you have easy access to the beach. (Mine was a premium swim up suite)
The hotel restaurants were a la cart and I was pleased with selection of authentic Jamaican fare on the menus. It's important to note that ordering is done via QR codes and downloading the Azul App is necessary in order to keep abreast of pretty much anything resort related.
With all that being said, I think the true gems at this resort were the staff. They made the experience special for me at every turn. From Whitina (Reservations) who cheerfully managed my booking inquiries from beginning to end. Dwight (Concierge) who checked on me and ensured that my stay was exceptional. The lovely lady that looked after the upkeep of my room made me feel like family and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Shanice and Ana Kay (Entertainment department) that made sure I never once felt like I was travelling alone. They kept the spirits of the guest high and engaged with the social activities as soon as they were in the vicinity with their infectious exuberance. In fact, that energy could be found throughout the staff. For example, Vidal (Bartender) the resorts "Tom Cruse from the movie Cocktail" made sure to create a fun environment for the guest which started group conversations over his tasty and colorful mixes that I don’t believe would have happened otherwise. The team that taught the Aqua fitness and Pilates were extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. They made a regular fitness class so much fun that ended up doing double sessions. The music was on point and DJ Mase really has a way with people. Again, a reflection of the exuberance that seems to be the common thread among the employees at Azul. I could go on, there are so many names I could mention because they all made this trip memorable ... It was my birthday ... and I felt as though the entire resort celebrated it with me every singe day.
I have to also mention the security on the property were friendly and really ensured you weren't overly harassed while on the beach. I also felt extremely safe on site even while walking around a night. By the way, the resorts external night entertainers and shows were top quality. Last but not least, if you get a chance to be photographed by Kosmo (on site photographer) do it! Like I said, the resort is beautiful. In fact, I think it's actually the nicest property on the award winning Seven Mile beachfront. But without a doubt, the real special sauce that makes this place even more memorable were the staff. They are the true gems.

Second time at this hotel and would like to return. The resort is well maintained and kept extremely clean.

The food is excellent and plenty of choices, there is a pasta station and they will cook whatever you like. Twice a week they have a gala dinner, with plenty of choice.

The only downside is the reservation of the loungers at the beach. Because you can get as many towels as you want people are reserving multiple beds. It's impossible to get sunbeds outside buildings 1-4, all of them are taken by 7:00 and there is no-one on them!

The staff work hard and nothing is too much trouble. Special mention to Camisha & Kerrian at the pool bar, Shamar and Sadae at the 7 mile beach bar in the evenings. The cocktail menu needs updating, the bar staff can make up some great cocktails not listed.

I'd also like to mention Marion at the Mahogany and Andane on reception who made the check-in so smooth.

We went on a trip to the YS Falls and Black River, I would not advise going over to Dunns falls from Negril, as some people we spoke to had spent 9 hours on the coach. The traffic around Montego Bay is horrendous.

Once again we had a fabulous time, decided to go for Christmas instead of in November. The beach is lovely about 5 miles long although they call it the seven mile beach. We had a swim up room in block one of the Adult only section as it gets the sun all day. They are quite spacious with a lovely big bathroom which has a great rain forest shower 2 sinks and big wardrobes along one wall,Special thanks to Damion who served us our drinks at the swim up bar in this section, his rum punch was the best.
Christmas day dinner was set out on the beach with a fantastic choice of dishes.s
The food was always very well presented and plenty of choice. We alternated between the Palms and Mahogany for breakfast and the evening and some lunch times at
Garfield's on the beach, again a lovely setting to eat.which was a barbecue only down side was they never did any fish, which would have been nice for change from chicken, burgers, sausage, and jerk pork every day.
The staff are friendly, helpful and most will always acknowledge you when passing.
We were informed whilst there that Tui will no longer be a part of the Hotel from April
this year so it will loose the sensatori name,Hopefully it will not change as we would certainly think about returning.
I cannot finish without mentioning a very special lady," Marion" she is at Mahogany, for breakfast and Garfield's for lunch, who has looked after us every year.

You won’t regret this resort! I felt I had to do a review because I enjoyed my week here SO much. First off, I read a handful of bad reviews before I came and just want to say that I have NO IDEA how they were warranted! If you aren’t happy here than you won’t be happy with anything!!

The food here was fantastic. Never an issue finding something to eat. Fresh ground coffee and great service from Roxanne at the West End coffee counter.
Our favourite servers at the buffet were Teniel and Ackeem. They made us feel special all the time.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. They are constantly being groomed and maintained. We saw people painting the exterior and even someone in scuba gear replacing any broken or missing tiles in the pool! They were never in our way. Our room was always cleaned early.

The beach is so close to the rooms. It was literally seconds to get back to our room if we forgot anything. We never, ever had a problem finding a chair. There’s sunscreen available in big pumps as well as after sun lotion, so you don’t even need to pack that.

The entertainment was the best out of any resort I’ve been to. It wasn’t those cheesy micheal Jackson shows or magic shows. High quality local entertainment. The Bob Marley cover band Tribute was AMAZING!!!

We had a swim up room and it was worth every penny.

Yes, I can hear traffic from my balcony but it honestly does not bother me at all. I can hear the waves from the ocean more.

I will recommend this resort to anyone and everyone!

Our concierge Sha-Shauna was wonderful as well. She asked us if we would go to a quick time share demonstration. It went by really fast and we were gifted with a free 25 minute massage on the beach each, so it was worth it!

Overall it was a FANTASTIC week and we are sad to leave. The layout of the resort is perfect. I don’t know how anything else will compare.

Thanks for a wonderful holiday Azul Negril!

We just visited Azul in Negril, Jamaica. One of the most beautiful places we have visited as a family. We loved it so much it was our second time there in less than a year! The resort is very clean, and the staff are extremely accommodating. We met Cameisha during our first visit. We had a swim up room that connected us to her swim up bar. From the first day we met her she greeted us each day with a a smile and chatted with the kids. Such a beautiful lady. The staff definitely helped make our vacation a memorable one.
The beach is incredible. The water was so clear and the kids got to explore some small local fish. The beach is also just minutes away from any room. Our room this time was close enough that we fell asleep and woke up to the sound of the ocean. ❤️❤️
The Italian restaurant was fantastic, and so was the Garfield BBQ lunch. We will definitely be back!!
