Detailed Reviews
Sandy Haven is a very gracious, attractive, and appealing boutique hotel smack in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, Jamaica's finest beach. The hotel is small, quiet, clean, gracious, and well managed. It is steps from the beach, with ample public spaces: tables on the terrace overlooking the beach, pleasant waterfront bar, and adequate-sized (and clean) pool. The staff is pleasant and competent (special shoutout to Rowan, reservation manager, who provided expert help with all arrangements, such as taxis and restaurant reservations).
Two suggestions: upgrade the continental breakfast, which is barely adequate; and hire more staff: the present staff is overworked, which inevitably means service delays.

This quiet and well maintained resort is located on our favorite part of seven mile beach where it’s possible to wander into small shops and bars/restaurants. The food at Sandy Haven is good. Breakfast was served efficiently and with a smile. We would recommend that other servers and bartenders have training to efficiently serve customers and at least pretend to be cheerful. And if an event is scheduled for a particular time, it should be ready to start at that time. But, still, we would go back to this resort. Showers work, toilets flush, rooms are clean, food is good and the beach is perfect 😎

Checking in was lovely, we got upgraded to an “ocean view” room as I had mentioned it was our anniversary. We could see the ocean through the trees so, fair. The room itself was huge and clean. One of the sinks didn’t work and dripped . The tv didn’t work - and came to discover no tvs worked in any room of anyone I spoke to. We were fine with no tv, just wish it wasn’t a huge useless black thing in the room. Better would have been a bigger fridge tbh. Bed was a little hard.
Things were falling apart abit but all in all it was lovely for a week.
The supermarket Hi-Lo is a 10 min walk and perfect for water, beer , wine and snacks.
The food at the hotel is way overpriced for the quality and the area. You’re better off getting patties or going to another hotel nearby. We love the Jamaican people, and we always got a smile, but overall the staff seemed really unhappy.
The beach was amazing, no wait for chairs, sun all day, no complaints.
Look, is it a 4 star hotel? No. We got an amazing deal on Air Canada Vacations and it was worth it. But I’ve seen prices for other dates and I would never pay that much to stay here.
So if you get a good deal, take it!

Advertised as a Luxury Boutique Hotel is a reference to the rooms which were very nice and clean, well appointed with all advertised in-room amenities. Unfortunately we went without hot water in the shower for the full week we were there though other mechanical issues were quickly addressed. Real stars were the cleaning staff who work hard to maintain the rooms in such good condition. Staff generally were friendly. Continental breakfast included is ok, some cut fruit, coffee, juice and two slices of toast. Had better selection at Cocoa Palm next door for $5USD where we ate several times. Beach bar is poorly stocked and lacked basics like mix. No sports equipment but "Pops" can hook you up with another vendor. Outside of the room, no extras. Three stars.

Sandy Haven at first glance looks like an inviting little boutique hotel nestled on the 7 mile strip of beach in Negril. Absolutely enjoyed the view from our beachfront room. The problem begins with inside of the room: on arrival we were told there was no soap. That is unacceptable and not sanitary. Imagine all the guests on the property not being able to wash hands appropriately. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable. Our group of 30 +people used the resort for catering an event on the property. The food that was served by only one server was marginal, and not as promised. The food did not have any source of heat to maintain temperature, and therefore the food was not hot as it should be. Secondly, all the items that was promised on the menu were not served and the cost per person did not change.Lastly during the last 2 days of our 7 night stay one of our phones was damaged by a flow of water from the air conditioner that was above the nightstand where the phone was charging. With every issue or problem that we reported we were met with I’m sorry however nothing was resolved to our satisfaction. (We did get soap after 2 days and our room was changed on our last night) However, It’s been over a week since we’ve returned home and no one has gotten back to us regarding a resolution for the damaged phone. It’s pretty obvious to me that there is a serious lack of customer service or any genuine desire to satisfy guests.

I made a reservation for Sandy Haven Resort on October 28, 2022 for three nights arriving on November 15, 2022. The reservation was confirmed. Upon arriving at the hotel on November 15 around 3pm we were informed that we no longer had a reservation. We were told that the hotel had tried to call us but they were unable to get in touch with us. We were on an international trip to Jamaica and our phones were on airplane mode. While waiting at the reception we noticed the pool and whirlpool were rather dirty and needed cleaning. The resort didn't end up looking like the pictures we saw online. This may have been providence since we ended up going to the Charella Inn which we really enjoyed.

This hotel's website lists many amenities that are either non-existent or out of commission. I truly feel that I have more amenities at my home, so if you're looking for a pampered vacation this is not the place to go. There was no Wifi the entire week we were there which created a huge problem for us as well as many other guests. We were planning to keep our phones on airplane mode & hook up to the hotel Wifi--not possible! Even sitting at the front desk, it was in & out. I have no idea how they can fo business like that. The staff said it can be challenging! While sitting at the front desk to gain any communication to schedule our return shuttle for 3 days, I overheard the staff continue to give out the Wifi password as though it was functional. I also witnessed 3 guests demanding refunds & checking out. Obviously no Wifi, no TV as well but that wasn't much of a concern to me. We dud nit have any hot water for the 1st two days & after we got the problem fixed, I found out the room below us then was out the next few days, not sure what was going on with that. Hot tub was out of commission the entire week which I actually really look forward to using. Other items not functional were the refrigerator, the safe, the balcony lights. The restaurant was never open the entire week, our last night we were able to order food at the outdoor bar. They could never charge anything to a credit card at the bar because of the internet problem which left me having to use cash all the time. We frequented other hotels for food & drink instead. The one meal we did get there was the worst meal we had our entire trip! The staff were definitely fed up with fielding all of the complaints, we heard guests literally screaming at the staff over promised amenities not being available. The cleaning people did a nice job each day on the room & the ambiance of the beach atmosphere was terrific! I would not recommend this hotel as I feel the good qualities can be found anywhere else with many more upgrades. Overall not a welcoming place & definitely in need of repairs.

This hotel is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Jamaica. The service was nonexistent. The staff was rude. Every time I asked for something it felt like they were doing me a favor. I have been to Jamaica on several locations and this was by far my worst experience yet. For six days, we had no Internet or Wi-Fi when we arrived in our room the safe was broken. The air conditioner wasn’t working properly. The hairdryer was broken pretty much. Nothing worked on top of that. They charge our credit card without authorization and are still holding a security deposit for over 10 days. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy your vacation, do not stay here it will not be a vacation only a headache

The good, the bad and the ugly
The Good The staff were lovely from security to the waitresses and the check in staff. Very friendly and helpful. Particularly ' Pops' who couldn't do enough to ensure we had a great stay.
The Bad The hotels booking and reservation system. After we paid our money to the hotel, the receptionist informed us we would have to stay in 3 different rooms for the duration of our stay, which meant packaging and unpacking our luggage three times (it was only a 5 night stay), we expect better when we're paying almost £300 per night. Not what you would call relaxing! The reservation manager was very apologetic stating that bookings through 3rd parties (hotels.com in our case) don't always accurately respect availablity. I would have understand that if it was one change - but 3. We also saw that a few of other guests had the same issues and had to move. The Ugly
The pool and spa. They were both absolutely filthy to the point that no one wanted to use them and they ended up closing them. The equipment in the gym didn't work, was old and dirty. To leave it on a positive, the location is great and the beach is absolutely breathtaking.

Overall this hotel is great. It’s an ideal location for couples doing a romantic getaway- Boutique hotel with a serene environment, beautiful lobby area, pool with whirlpool/spa and of course direct access to the beach. The check in and check out process was efficient and adhering to all Covid related safety measures. Bonus - you’re provided with disposable surgical masks and portable travel size hand sanitizer, upon check in. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean and the bathrooms are larger than normal for similar hotels on the negril strip with dual sinks, a stand alone tube along with a shower. There’s a formal restaurant on site along with beach bar and restaurant, spa and gym. You are within 10 minutes of all negril attractions and walking distance of multiple other eating options both on the beach as well as the main road. I liked that the staff were friendly and helpful and the layout and amenities of the hotel however I wish there were kayaks or paddle boards.
