Jamaica is the ‘land of wood and water’… or more recently, the land of bamboo river rafting, waterfall explorations, mini cooper island excursions, and glorious sunset catamaran cruises. And, when Sandals Negril is part of the mix, sprinkle in lots of beach and pool time, exotic dining at 8 restaurants, water sports and pool volleyball, and things are looking up for your vacation. If doing as little as possible sounds like your kind of getaway, soak up the good vibes in beachfront swim-up suites with gorgeous views of Seven Mile Beach. For a vibrant vacation, sway right along with the island rhythms’ live shows and entertainment, saying “yes” to just about anything, including Millionaire Suites with private plunge pools and butler indulgences. By the end of your vacation, you’ll be won over by Negril's charm.

Sandals Negril enjoys a stunning beachfront setting that guests often find picturesque, though opinions on the resort's size and dining vary. While the atmosphere is frequently described as vibrant with lively entertainment, some guests have experienced disruptions. Room experiences differ, with reports of modern comforts alongside outdated aspects and noise issues. The service is generally applauded for staff friendliness, but not without instances of inconsistency. Despite commendations for the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, several travelers question the value for money, suggesting the pricing might be steep for the offered experience.

Overall, full marks for a wonderful stay. Almost everything was perfect and we will be back. So many things were amazing, which far outweighs any minor negatives.

Accommodation
Superbly furnished, amazingly comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. Lovely balcony and view. The housekeeping team made sure our rooms was spotlessly clean every day. Annakay was especially good. Minor downsides - no 240v socket (outlet) as advertised and as is the case at other Sandals and one air conditioning unit would not go very cold even after maintenance had a look at it.

Location
Stunning, especially the beachfront at sunset. Immaculately well maintained throughout although some areas are showing their age and a refurb is needed.

Food/drinks
Mostly top quality and faultless. Sundowner (Caribbean) was our favourite restaurant overall. Breakfasts were good but occasionally, there were some items that were not replenished quickly enough. Lunchtime service was quite slow, albeit very friendly. More restaurant options would be welcome in the evenings, especially as we were there for two weeks. Maybe a beach BBQ would be good. We were very disappointed that the dress-code was not enforced in the evenings and guests were wearing beach shorts, sandals and t-shirts at dinner.

Drinks are as you would expect at Sandals with top-shelf brands - a nice addition here was having Appleton 15-year-old. Only downside was regularly having to wait far too long to be served as there were never enough servers for the number of guests. The pool bar was understaffed, but a big shout out to Terence whose service was first class – he managed to get through plenty of orders to keep waiting times to a minimum whenever possible.

Staff
A real asset to the hotel - virtually everyone was amazing in every department. Our butlers (Delroy and Roy) were incredible in every way and nothing was ever too much trouble – we felt like royalty. Everything we asked for was delivered promptly and with impeccable attention to detail and elegant service.

The staff in the photo office never seem interested sadly - it seems a bit too much effort for them to help you choose memorable pictures. The wedding office staff were very good overall, but do not actually listen to requests - if they cannot tick a box on their form, they do not know how to do it.

Pools
The pools and surrounding areas were great overall. But the main pool was a bit cold and far too noisy too often. Some music playing is great, but at times it was so loud that sitting next to each other, we had to shout and even then we could not hear each other. Starting the music up at 7am is a bit early, too. They also had a really tacky staff introduction "show" by the pool on Mondays, which featured strip-club-esque twerking. Not what you want from staff at a 5* hotel – it was embarrassing and the lowest point of our holiday.

Wedding
Our wedding was absolutely perfect. Massive thanks to the entire Sandals’ team for making our day so memorable. The location, ceremony and food were stunning. A very special thank you and high praise to Andrew, our wedding photographer who was quite simply flawless. Our wedding coordinator, Crystal, was very helpful throughout. Only minor criticisms...our ceremony started late (100% down to Sandals, not us) and thereafter, some of the event was hurried along as they were trying to make up the time that they lost (we carried on at our own pace though). They started serving food while we were still making our speeches and Darrien (wedding organiser) was flustered and hassling us about when we should be doing our first dance. Later on, he relaxed and became a good host. Some things were not included in our “free” wedding including lighting for our meal. We spent around $8,000 overall on extras. These are only very minor issues and they did not detract from a fabulous day.

For the first week, our wifi was excellent, one of the best signals and speeds I have encountered at Sandals. But on day nine, it kept dropping and from then onwards it was really poor. I believe Sandals themselves had an internal issue sadly.
The “extra” activities are generally a waste of time. For example, the wine tasting session…All they did was pour the same all-inclusive wines you drink each day for lunch or dinner and ask you to taste them. Maybe try offering some different wines.

Any negatives comments are very minor though, as overall the hotel and everything that went with it was amazing and is highly recommended. We have re-booked for a return visit!

I would recommend booking a private airport transfer as ours took 2h30m during rush hour. The Toyota minibuses in use are devoid of suspension on some very dodgy/bumpy roads. Also, instead of using the hotel tour desk, book a local taxi who are all guides and will take you where you want and when, so you can set your own itinerary/pace. Their prices are pretty decent too compared to the official tours.

The staff at this resort are so warm and friendly, David Latchimy GM has an amazing team, we feel welcome and valued so we return regularly.

We have been vacationing at Sandals Resorts four or five times a year on average for many years, we prefer the top suites which makes it expensive but so worth it.
This resort is our second favourite, we have been to all the Sandals Resorts many times over so we speak from experience.

The location is superb so we spend our days on the beach overlooking the ocean, occasionally visiting Chris the lovely barman at the Sundowner Beach Bar (piano bar) for a drink and a discussion on premiership soccer!

Breakfast is usually in the Bayside where we have a chat with our lovely friend Jamie.
Our vacation would not be complete without a visit to the Loyalty manager Kerri-Ann who is so welcoming and makes us feel like visiting Royalty.

We also meet David (GM) on a regular basis as he is always out checking on the resort and his guests, one of the reasons we return here.

Our Butlers on each occasion are Myron and Neisha, they are amazing and always ensure we have a great experience.

We do not enjoy our dining experience at Sandals, food is very subjective so no point
discussing our preferences at length.

The same menu at each of the restaurants is standard at all Sandals resorts and changes very infrequently, a problem for guests like ourselves who visit every few months.
So due personal preferences and food allergies I have had the same meal at the French restaurant (Bayside dinner) on arrival at the resorts for the past decade!

We would like to see innovative executive chefs like Delroy have some autonomy to produce their own menus and showcase their talents.

It would mean abolishing the bulk buying of the same commodities and shipping them from the USA on a regular basis for a decade to something a little more exciting.
We are finding it difficult to express enthusiasm for the boring chicken leg served to us five times a year at the diamond lunch and applauding like it was a wonderful invention or surprise.

The food supplies would need to be a little more tailored to the executive chef's requirements but change should be embraced, it would make each resort more individual and welcomed by regular visitors like us.

Every member of staff at this resort is amazing, so cheerful and welcoming, you are the reason we keep returning here.
See you all soon.

Our trip was planned last October, before Covid 19. A week or so before our trip, we booked Club Mobay to help get us through the Covid medical evaluations quicker at the airport. It was definitely worth the extra $50 per person as it probably got us on our way to the resort a hour or two earlier. Once we were at the resort, it was absolutely wonderful. This was our third trip to Jamaica, each at a different Sandals resort. We love Jamaica and the people there. We were told that there have been zero Covid cases in Hanover Parrish where Negril is located, and they are serious about keeping it that way. All employees wear masks. All guests must sanitize before entering a restaurant, though guests were not required to wear masks at the resort. All restaurants required night time reservations except for one to maintain social distancing. There were no buffets as in the past; everything is ordered from a menu. The resort was probably booked at only 35 - 45% capacity when we were there. The nightly entertainment was very good, especially their Broadway show. Janine in Loyalty was one of the highlights of our trip with her friendliness. The Island Routes Catamaran Cruise was part of our booking, and it took us to some really scenic cliff areas of Negril. We booked one of the least expensive rooms, and it was beyond spacious. The Sandals beds and pillows are always so comfortable. We look forward to future trips to Sandals resorts.

I’ll start by noting this was our 7th vacation at a Sandals resort, so obviously we have enjoyed staying at Sandals resorts in the past.
Positives:
* Transfers to and from the airport were smooth, allow for 1.5 - 2 hours to the resort.
* 99% of the people we encountered were lovely, happy, helpful, overall sunny natured.
* Food was consistently good, with Sundowner’s being our favorite. All restaurants were open each night.
* Our butler GaWayne was outstanding, he quickly addressed all of our requests.
* Resort grounds are beautiful and immaculate.
* 24 hour security, they really limited interaction from beach vendors.
* Spa staff were outstanding.
* Dive staff were knowledgeable and helpful.
Negatives:
* The room we booked 13 months earlier was not the room we were given. (Ocean view, ocean front 2 story 1 bedroom butler suite). They placed us in room 2216, right next to the dive shop, with a ground level view of a brown wood wall, and a bedroom balcony view of the dive shop. We immediately asked for a different room, and basically had to threaten to cancel our 10 day stay before they then arranged to move us to a true ocean front/ocean view suite the next afternoon. So, we couldn’t unpack etc, and were inconvenienced for the first 24 hours of our trip.
* Suite furnishings are showing wear. Rugs in living room and bedroom need to be replaced. Couch and side chairs had worn upholstery.
* Housekeeping services were late each day (4:30 - 5:00) and we had to call one day as they skipped our suite completely.
* Lounge chairs on the beach are too close together, only about 5 feet between your chairs and the next couple.
* Significant road noise, as the resort backs to a busy highway. Buyer beware of the Millionaire Honeymoon Butler suites with private pools, as they also back up to the road.
* Small main pool and really small secondary pools.
* Craft vendors on property each day (usually only one day per week at other resorts).
* The cappuccino machines were broken, they really need a Cafe’ de Paris at this resort.
* When attempting to book our return trip, the Loyalty staff were unable/unwilling to explain the significant price per night differences based on an 8 day or 11 day stay (for the same level room). The manager’s attitude was “take it or leave it” and made no effort to answer our questions and retain our repeat business. So, for the first time ever, we didn’t book a return trip.

Therefore, based on the less than desirable room we were initially given and the unsatisfactory experience at the Sandals Loyalty Club, this resort only gets a 3 star review.

Hello and thank you for your review of Sandals Negril. We are truly saddened to learn of any aspects of your stay that may have fallen short of your expectations. It is quite surprising to hear that you were not given the room booked, as concerns of this nature of certainly not indicative of the norm. At Sandals, we take great pride in providing immaculate grounds, accommodations and amenities, unfortunately over time, wear and tear is inevitable and our team do their best to complete any necessary improvements without inconveniencing our guests. While we always perform renovations and redesigns to ensure that we provide the highest standard of luxury and comfort, our process is an on-going one. Despite our facilities undergoing regular maintenance and inspections, there may be times when unexpected challenges may arise. In these instances, our team reacts quickly to resolve the same; however, we do apologize for any inconveniences posed. Nonetheless, we have noted your comments and will be forwarding them to Management to expedite the improvement process. We do have a diligent housekeeping team that caters to all rooms on a daily basis. Our team has a schedule for room attendance and as a large property; it may take time beyond the morning period for some rooms to be tended to. Nonetheless, we regret any inconvenience. At every step of the way our team remains dedicated to providing first-class standards of service, and as such we apologize for any inconsistency. Nonetheless we respect all of the opinions you have expressed and your sentiments have been duly noted for future consideration. We are pleased to see that there were other areas of your trip that you enjoyed and, should you choose to visit another one of our resorts in the future, we would certainly welcome an opportunity to have you as a guest again for an even better vacation experience.

I stayed mid December for 2 weeks with my now husband, we got married on our second day and then relaxed the rest of the time. It was perfect and we had the most unforgettable time.
We are from the UK so it took a long time to fly into Montego Bay, Sandals were quick getting our bags sorted and getting us onto the transfer, we didn't even look in the Sandals lounge as we were sent straight on our way! The transfer took about 70 mins and the driver was cheerful despite it being 9pm.
On arrival we had a club level room so were whisked to the club desk upstairs where they gave us all the information needed and took us to our room shortly followed by our luggage arriving. It was half 10 in the evening so the Bistro was our only food option but it was fantastic and remained our favourite food for the whole trip!
Cylena was our wedding planner on site and was great (the over the phones ones you get before arriving aren't very helpful!), she was so welcoming and happy, she got everything sorted for us and didn't push to sell us more decorations and video packages which we appreciated. On the wedding day we had Shelley-ann as our wedding 'captain' and I think she was my favourite person on resort, she seemed so naturally interested in what we had to say and made us feel like we were the only people on resort. The wedding was over quite fast but we didn't mind as it was just the two of us and it was all abit of a whirlwind. We just did the free wedding and the onsite photographer with the cheapest photo package and we have no regrets about it.
Carl the manager was lovely and you often saw him walking along the beach getting to know all the newcomers, we very much enjoyed the fact that he was also English haha! We had a small complaint our wedding dinner and he immediately wanted to make it up to us and arranged a private candlelight dinner on the beach to compensate. It was amazing, we had Darian serving us and he was beyond anything we could've asked for; he even performed 3 songs in between meals which made it totally unforgettable.
We stayed in a beach walkout club level (5124) and were very pleased here, we used room service a few times (it can be slow so order with plenty of notice!). The room was always cleaned to a high standard and the fridge topped up.
The entertainment isn't fantastic (especially being there 2 weeks it did all repeat the second week) but we knew this before booking, it can get lively in the evening but totally depends on the crowd that is there. However, the entertainment staff do there best and are very good at getting people involved throughout the day. Orayn, pooh bear and Ronaldo really made a lasting impression on us. Shane was one of the lifeguards who spoke to us everyday and was very helpful and hardworking. The water sports were great and lots to try!
We did want to book to stay again before leaving and Kacheef was really helpful and easy to talk to (and has the biggest smile ever) but as we are in the UK we didn't know what days our airlines would be flying on yet so couldn't.
Thoroughly recommend.

Also we visited Beaches twice, the mexican food is delicious and lazy river is fun to relax with a cocktail!

If you’re interested in getting drunk then this is the place for you. The drinks are included and as the day goes on, the bar tenders add more and more alcohol to help get you there. But if you’re in your 40’s and you want to do more than just sit around and drink...you may want to think again. The meals are...ok at best. I’m sure they are great if you’re inebriated and I will say the presentation of them is very impressive, but the flavor is lacking and the portions are small. You do get an appetizer and a dessert with every meal, but there was plenty of times we just wanted a decent meal and would have gladly given up desert in order to get that. We did learn towards the end of the week that you can order multiple appetizers (and most times your salad counts as an appetizer), but not without feeling like you were an inconvenience for asking to do so. Our first day there, we waited almost 2 hours for our bags to get to the room. After a very long day of travel, we just wanted to shower, change, and eat. I called twice about getting our bags, and each time I was told they were on their way. The second time, I offered to come and get them and was assured they were on their way, but still it was another hour before it arrived. We ordered room service and it even arrived before our bags. However, the food was cold and wrong once it got there. We had multiple meals that were undercooked and never once had a meal that everything we ordered was correct. The first day we were there we needed towels restocked and called to get them and they never showed up. We had other issues that never were restocked. I learned that using the Loop app was a common suggestion so I sent a message asking for the same items we had already requested. Four hours passed and we never got the items even though we were assured they were on the way. I finally sent a message saying I was disappointed and then the management stepped in and got things done and asked to meet with me. He apologized for the inconvenience and errors and in return offered us room service 24/7. Again, if we were drinking all night long and wanted food in our room at 2 am then I’m sure this would have been a great deal, but when room service stopped at 10pm and started again at 6 am, it really wasn’t that inconvenient. I told them I wasn’t trying to hustle them. I just wanted the items fixed and better service. In return he offered a $50 credit, so long as I would sign a non-disclosure agreement in order to not post

Our arrival was fantastic, we used the Club Mobay service which fast tracked us through customs and expedited us getting to the Sandals lounge which we were quickly whisked away from there, and on our way to Negril (1 1/2 hrs away from airport). We were greeted on arrival by a very enthusiastic butler named Mark, and he didn't waste anytime getting us drinks, a tour of the resort and off to our room. Everything was seamless just the way it should be! Our butlers Christopher and Mark were awesome, always there when you needed them, and always surprising you on the beach with a snack or beverage! Our chairs on the beautiful white sand beach were always ready and waiting for us along with a cooler with beer and water for the day on ice. The 7 mile beach is awesome, and the sunsets to die for! The Sandals Negril team is all fantastic, you will get to know Kendra and her infectious personality as she greets you at the Bayside restaurant, and you can't help but smile. Bea the photographer will make you feel like a Hollywood actress...lol. Clovette at Barefoot by the Sea got to see us alot, and we had a few great laughs with her. To the Loyalty team, they were a great help on our day out as our flight was cancelled and the Loyalty Manager and her team were as helpful as they could, and the Hotel Manager as well was extremely helpful in making our transition to Sandals Montego Bay for 1 additional night due to our delay as smooth as possible in a bit of a stressful situation! The only downfall to this resort was the small amount of restaurants to choose from, we wish there would have been a bit more variety as we were there for 10 nights..... and Sandals Negril needs the Cafe de Paris. we did pay a cab and went and enjoyed Soy down at Beaches which was a nice evening as well, and one night we went off resort and enjoyed a real Jerk Chicken experience at Best in the West Jerk House. Fun experience! overall great trip would highly recommend!

Each time we return to Sandals Negril, we are instantly calm, pampered, entertained, and impressed with the food, service, cleanliness, safely, and this time, even a strolling saxophone player.

The staff wore Sandals masks everywhere and used so much hand sanitizer, it must be a habit now.

Our room overlooked the memorizing beach with boats moored and swaying with the current. Each morning a masked gardener raked and picked up everything on the beach. That also happened after each rain.

The food has been exceptional each time we have been here. This time was no exception. There were no buffets, so everything was a la carte.

Every night was filled with fun including a sing a long at the piano, Reggae music, a beach party, wine tasting, Martini tasting,so many watersports, alll with personal instruction if needed. One night, there was a party with headphones. What a blast we had! What a show we all must have been for the staff with 3 different DJ's playing different music in our ears.

Every team member deserves so many thank yous! Every last one of you made this a very special return for these JAmericans.

This was our 15th trip to Sandals Negril so obviously we absolutely love this resort. We love the people… We love the gorgeous long beach and we love the low-key atmosphere and outside restaurants. Thousands of truckloads of sand have made the beach much wider. Our favorite Butler’s Kenrick and Wadea were absolutely perfect as always. We loved the landscape gardener working outside the two-story suites. He was very interested to hear that we are farmers and we shared some great conversations. Glenville brought my papaya and coffee each morning… What a gracious gentlemen!

My husband and I have been extremely careful through the pandemic and this was our first voyage out among people. The airport experience seemed very safe and thorough. We boarded our van to the resort and all five of us were wearing masks so that felt relatively safe. The resort is doing a good job with being Covid careful… Lots of hand sanitizer and employees are required to wear masks although they do cheat just a little bit. But here comes the reason for my first four-star review rather than five star. We got on the larger shuttle van to return to the airport. We were the first to board of course wearing our masks. We didn’t see that the other three couples who boarded behind us were not wearing masks. I didn’t realize this until after we were on the road and then the driver removed his mask for the entire ride as well. Had I known this I would have
refused to get on the shuttle. I know Sandals contract this out but masks should be required on these closed vehicles. My husband and I will self isolate and pray for the best now that we are home. We have always used the resort shuttle and never had a problem before but I would advise those of you who are trying to be careful to arrange for private transportation. Hoping Sandals does something about this…

Just back from a fantastic, relaxing week at Sandals Negril. Second time to Negril, we had been back in 2008. Staff was fantastic, everyone we met was friendly and super helpful. Butlers Romaine and Denato were terrific, took good care of us all week, whatever we needed. Gotta give props to the GM, he was really visible, we even saw him there on Saturday helping clean up drinks. Food was good, highlights were Oleanders and Cuccina, had great meals there. Being a smaller resort we did miss maybe having another restaurant or two but no big deal.

We had a swim up room, our favorite category by far and this one was really nice. Big room with a separate seating area, had breakfast on the patio every day (butlers snuck that in early morning, woke up to it, what a treat! Room could use some updating for sure, but nothing that impacted our week.

We spent our days mostly on the beach which is nice. There are vendors up and down all day but for us just some local color, a polite no thank you and they leave you alone, learn who's not interested during the week.

We did some snorkeling saw some cool fishes. Also did a private sunset trip with Mardio and Bid Daddy, fun couple of hours, beautiful sunset.

We've been to 8 different Sandals over the years and this is one of our favorites. We both needed a break to recharge and really got exactly that.

You should call the resort directly, not the reservation center, for the most current status. The telephone number is (876) 957-5216.

The simple answer is yes. The renovations normally take place in sections of the resort and not over the entire resort at one time.
