Us 2 sisters have been coming to Negril very frequent for years now and we love the West End. Our first stay here. We had always wanted to try a stay here. Banana Shout was exactly what we love on the cliff ocean side. Rustic old school vybe! This place reminded us of our original favorite place a few doors down at Citronella, but that place has changed from what it was. We love rustic Jamaican style and Banana Shout is all that. Alex greeted us with a warm welcome and the Dolphin Sea was all ready for us. I loved the huge bathroom and shower. Rooms have ceiling fan and another stand fan and we only used one fan. We don't care about AC! The ocean breeze cools the room in the evening. We met Plug who is the caretaker with very friendly vybe. Always greeting with a smile. Alex and Plug checked in on us every day to make sure we were all good and happy with our stay and we were! There is a communal kitchen on property where you can cook if you like. Room also had a 2 burner stove and small fridge. Now the best part is the cliff access! Stairs directly into the ocean is a must for me! I prefer cliff swimming over the beaches any time! You get the best sunsets right here on property. The sound of the ocean waves hitting the rocks while you drift asleep and the peacefulness of that sound in the morning is priceless. Rick's is next door so you can enjoy the music without leaving. Wise Choice right across the street if you need something from the store. Kool Vybes , LTU, and many other places to eat/drink very close by. The only bad thing I have to say is not long enough of a stay! 5 days not enough! 😄 I have some unforgettable memories here now and this will forever be a special place for me. Thank you Alex and Plug for having us and we look forward to staying again! Soon come!…
I had to cancel my Nov 20 booking due to the virus. I was concerned as I had paid for my room but Banana Shout Resort didnt haggle, argue or dispute my decision to cancel. They were very helpful and very quick to return my money. They were more courteous than some of the westernised airlines which are richer and have more government support. I will be booking this trip again and I will definitely be going to Banana Shout Resort. See you 2022.
My family has been coming to Jamaica for over 17 years, and it pains me to write such a negative review. We arrived at Banana Shout after a long flight and multiple hours stuck at the airport. We were the only ones at the resort and rented 3 of the 4 bungalows, and it was hot! There are ceiling fans in the rooms but it was not enough to cool off from the humid July air. We asked for an extra fan for each room, but they only had one available. Management stated they would go get us more in the morning but never did. The next morning we enjoyed the sun and privacy of having the resort to ourselves but realized halfway through the day that the water was not working. We discussed it with staff who stated the water bill had just been paid ($900 overdue!) and the city would be out shortly to restore it. There were multiple places in the city that were out and we understood. We quickly realized we were unable to flush the toilets, wash our hands, take a shower, etc. Time passed and passed. Because of COVID-19, we had to quarantine for 48 hours before leaving the resort. We had to have staff go out and purchase over $200 of water to be able to flush our toilets. We were offered no reimbursement, assistance, or even a little bit of sympathy about this situation. After our quarantine was over, we went to Magaritaville for dinner and were able to take showers there. The next morning, we went to the beach and began discussing leaving the resort if we still had no power once we returned. We were without water for over 55 hours! Upon returning from the beach, they told us the water truck was on there way to fill their water tank back up. The manager, Alex, told us that they had to use ocean water to clean out the toilets because we had decided to use the toilets without running water. What did he expect us to do?! We didn't think you could use ocean water with the plumbing and nobody told us anything different. The damage was done and we decided to leave. My husband and I went to stay at the resort next door while the rest of our family went to another one down the road. We were looking at Banana Shout through rose-colored glasses as a place with family memories but has just become run-down, outdated, and unfair. We spent thousands of dollars to stay here only to have rooms with no water, no air, and three bungalows beginning to smell like sewer. In addition to the mess, we were overcharged. We purchased 3 bungalows; one for 6 days, and the other two for eight days. They charged us for 3 bungalows for 8 days instead. We had one person unable to come and they only took off $200. Upon realizing, we had already paid in full and knew they wouldn't refund us anything. However, the grounds crew was great and very friendly to our 7-year old. The manager, Alex, was rude along with the owner. Please spend your money somewhere else.…
I have been staying at Banana Shout since 2003. The views are amazing. It is such a beautiful place. It does need some work done and updates. Our last trip there was in 2014. The staff is a rare find. We have known Plug and Chemist for a long time. My son really got attatched to Chemist and loved spending time with him. Whenever we go to Jamaica, wherever we stay, we will always visit Plug and Chemist. If Banana Shout becomes for sale, let me know. 🙂
DO NOT STAY HERE. You WILL be let down. The owners are terrible and will not help you in anyway. This place is a scam and we cannot express how terrible our stay was. We had fleas and mold in our bed. The owners refused to do anything about it. We even had to get the Jamaican police involved to settle our refund as the owners are corrupt and refused to be helpful. This place is owned by Italians who do not respect the Jamaican culture. There used to be another owner who made this place great but the new owners are taking advantage of the history it once had. We were offered a prostitute while we were there as well. I have toured the entire island twice and this is by far the worst place on the island. You can find plenty of other amazing affordable options anywhere else on the cliffs.…
