We stayed at Toby’s resort for our first night when we arrived in Montego Bay. This stay was part of a tour with Arrowhead Birding Tours (Dwayne Swabay was a great guide). The hotel is very close to the airport…check in was quick and they help you, your luggage, and your 3 sanitized remotes get to your room The location is right at the end of the Hip Strip with lots of walkable places. There is also a beach right across the street that is free, and we were able to watch the sunset there.
This hotel has some age, but everything has fresh paint and is clean…the grounds are in nice shape with pools, bars, and lots of plants and flowers. Our room was basic but has surfaces for suitcases, a TV, good AC, and a deck out back overlooking some flowering trees. We were in room 25. I forgot to mention that one of the pillows on the bed was thin...rare to find that!
We left before they began serving breakfast, but we did eat dinner there. The service was really slow…over 20 min. before they took our order…and there were not that many people there. The menu was basic, and we both had chicken dishes that were good.
They did not have many guests during our stay and all the staff were friendly. I would stay again in similar circumstances.

This very neat, two pools, one with bar, you can eat on site, breakfast, lunch and dinner for a good price! It is close to the public beach Sun Set beach and 5 minutes walk from the private beach Dr Cave! It is very close to supermarkets, and 10 minutes from the airport! And the staff is very friendly!

The only thing good about this hotel is the location near the airport and hip strip. As for the room, the pillows on the queen bed were very small about the size of couch cushions. The WiFi was spotty and unreliable. I was provided with two thin bath towels and the room had no bar soap in the shower so I had to buy my own from a local store. For 70 USD a night you would think they would provide complimentary breakfast daily and they have this crazy no guest rule and a charge for guests during visiting hours. This mattered because I was with a wedding party so friends or relatives couldn't change in my room without paying a fee ( if this was an all-inclusive I could maybe understand but absolutely ridiculous ) Also, the room has no safe for documents or passports. Which is a must for any hotel. Jamaican independence celebrations were just days away and this place didn't seem ready for an influx of guests. I'll never stay here again as they were doing just the bare minimum

The location was good. It was a short walk to the beach and convenient to the airport. You can also walk to nice tennis courts (not part of the resort) that you could pay to rent. The room was very clean. The hotel itself was a bit dated, but also clean and had two pools. We got breakfast, which was good but a little pricey - would recommend doing it once as a treat but not every day. The only downside was that two of the lights in our room flickered, which was somewhat bothersome to me as a frequent reader.

Booked a one night stay at Toby's, i've always seen this hotel pop up on my search of Montego bay so i decided to see what it was like.
At Check in the first receptionist i met wasn't too friendly and told me my room wouldn't be ready until 3pm due to a lot of late check outs. I understand most hotels have the 3pm check in policy however it was the way she communicated it that was borderline rude. I then went to the restaurant onsite to have some lunch while i waited. I had the red peas soup, the waitress told me it was finished then came to me a few minutes later to say they had some more. When it came it was watered down as if they just added hot water to the soup to extend it. tasted like hot water and peas, i didn't drink it and thankfully they didn't charge me for it. I then ordered the Oxtail, it wasn't the greatest Oxtail i've had and i didn't end up finishing it, to my surprise after receiving the bill, they are charging $25 USD for an oder of Oxtail which in my opinion is well over priced.
After eating at around 3pm i went back to the front desk to check in, thankfully there was a different receptionist (an older more mature lady) who was much nicer than the first lady. she was much friendlier and checked me in with no issues.
The room was ok, and what you would expect at this price point, they had not fridge or iron in the room, but it has AC and a TV. There were no towels in the room but a quick call to front desk and they delivered towels to the room. I was in room 39, there was hot water in the tap however you had to run the pipe for about 20 mins before the hot water would come. Also the bath tub would clog up and i would be standing in a puddle of water every time i took a shower.
The security guy at the front was very friendly and helped me with my bags to the room.
There are 2 pools on the property, one seemed a lot older than the other, however both pools did not live up to the pictures on the site, seems as if those pictures were taken a very long time ago and the pools are not maintained as well as they should be.

We really love this resort! We usually stay here for one night because it's close to the airport, clean, relaxed, and it allows us to get a jump start on our vacation before heading to further areas of Jamaica. Carlene at the front desk was so helpful - going out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. The restaurant on property is really nice, with indoor and outdoor seating available. The menu is pretty good and the prices are really reasonable too. The rooms are decent sized, most have a really nice patio to enjoy the evening from. They are clean and comfortable. The main pool has plenty of seating, a small bar, and it's a great place to relax.

We needed a hotel close to the airport for our last night in Jamaica. Toby’s is always my go to for this situation. It’s cute, clean, and conveniently located within minutes of the airport. The staff are pleasant and helpful. We were initially given a room with a rather small double bed but we expressed that this was not acceptable for us. They upgraded us to a deluxe room at no extra cost. The down side to this was that the wifi would fluctuate in the room. We ate a few meals at the restaurant and the food was delicious. They have a traditional Jamaica menu and some North American items. The pools are nice but not as clean as we would like. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely continue to use Toby’s when we need to be centrally located.

My wife and I stayed here all the time and I must say this resort is chilled and quiet. The food is great especially the curried goat. You get nice authentic food here. Securities are around so you have nothing to worry about. The employees are super friendly. From front desk, security, restaurant, housekeeping, grounds and bar. Olando in the restaurant is very attentive, courteous and welcoming.Special mention to Micheal who kept us entertained at the bar. He is also very welcoming, customer savy, helpful and courteous. The covid protocols are followed at this resort so you have nothing to worry about. Please note mask is mandatory. I highly recommend this resort on Kent avenue in Montegobay.
Looking forward to our next visit soon.

Our flight was getting in late so instead of paying for a full day at Beaches resort and getting in late at night we decided to stay at Toby’s Resort. The hotels.com website said they have a shuttle. THEY DO NOT HAVE A SHUTTLE. We got a $15 flat rate taxi from the airport to Toby’s. When we pulled in I noticed the parking lot is gated. We got 2 rooms with 2 beds for our family of four, the beds are twin size. The rooms are clean but pretty rough and dated. The restaurant was OK. I got a traditional chicken stew with beans and rice. The chicken was more bone than meat, same with my husband’s chicken and curry dish. Overall, it’s not what it seems from the pictures and description.

When I was there I felt safe, when I was there both in April and July 2019. They were going through the state of emergency at the time and I felt safe.
I had a money belt, that was under my cloths, plus a container that looked like a lynx deodorant. Can get cheaply from amazon. my main belongings were at transparent bag, so wveryine could see I got nothing to steel. also I dressed modest, and didn't bring no jewellery, or expensive mobile phone to attract the less unfortunately. Didnt travel around on my own in shady arreas or late at night, apart in hotel, or wirh taxi from door to door. And I was ok, for over a month.
There are more places to choose from in the Montego Bay area.
