Nestled close to picturesque beaches and the vibrant 'hip strip,' Deja Resort is hailed for its prime location. While it's lauded as a budget-friendly retreat, the resort's value is occasionally questioned due to basic amenities and unforeseen costs. Guests enjoy the inclusive entertainment and beachfront access, yet some facilities, like the pool, fall short of expectations.
Accommodations at Deja Resort elicit mixed responses, with room cleanliness and comfort highlighted positively, against a backdrop of decor in need of an update. Service quality varies, with commendations for staff amiability contrasting with reports of occasional neglect. The resort's general cleanliness is acknowledged, but a fresh renovation could enhance its inviting and magical atmosphere.

In my opinion, the hotel is definitely geared more towards locals, who seem very comfortable there, not so much people looking to go on vacation. We had to stay a night here due to our flight being pushed forward a day. Pool is very small, there is zero AC basically anywhere except for the rooms. You can find a place that’s sweltering hot, but quiet to relax, or a place with decent air temp but BLASTING oddly placed music (Whitney Houston, then Disney music, then rap, all at 9am..?) so loud you can’t hold a conversation. The whole hotel (I’m not sure how they can call it a resort, it was definitely a hotel..) was dingy / dirty. You could find water from a spout at the bar but every single public water jug was always empty the whole time we were there. Felt very uneasy and uncomfortable anytime outside of the doors, with people constantly yelling at you from the sidewalk to buy drugs or take a “tour” etc. definitely would not return but if you’re looking for a last minute emergency place that’s relatively cheap and has a cute little beach (you get one entry pass, otherwise you pay $8 to go to the little beach out front). Also you get 2 towels with a laminated card but if you lose the towel OR rinky dink card they charge you $30 each…
Notable positive experiences: man with dreads at the grill rocked, knew how to throw a burger down and was nice. Younger lady that serves ice cream til 10pm was such a gem.

Quite frankly if I had known renovations were going on during my stay I wouldn’t have booked this hotel as continuous construction noise throughout the day is not what you want to hear whilst trying to relax. In addition, it was a sensory nightmare for me due to my hearing impairment.
There are no lifts at the resort so if your room is located on the top floor like mine you’re sure to leave fitter than you arrived.
Upon arrival to the airport in the middle of the night there was no staff member at the Deja Resort kiosk to welcome me despite booking a shuttle in advance. Thankfully another hotel was willing to assist in providing transportation. Trying to book a shuttle for departure was just as frustrating as there seems to be no consistent booking policy used. I asked 3 different members of staff at the front desk how to book and was given 3 different answers. On the morning of my departure there was no driver available for the time I had booked but the staff member on shift was very helpful arranging a local taxi.
My check-in experience was pleasant as the staff at the front desk were welcoming on arrival.
At first glance my room appeared satisfactorily cleaned. However, when I entered the bathroom the cleanliness was questionable as the toilet appeared to have been used and not flushed; as there was soiled tissue in the toilet bowl and the white bath tub/ shower tray looked like it had not been properly cleaned in weeks as the sides were discoloured. Initially I thought this was general wear and tear as it was evident the fixtures and furniture in the room was dated hence the renovations going on in the hotel. However, to my surprise it was actually filth. I should of taken a before and after photograph as I cleaned the bath tub with my personal cleaning supplies. The difference made with a simple wipe of a cloth and some disinfectant confirmed the bath tub had not been satisfactory cleaned for some time.
On my second day from the early hours of the morning I had no water in my sink and bath/shower. In addition, the hotel phone lines went down and there was no WiFi connectivity for the majority of the morning
Nevertheless, despite these significant issues I would stay at Deja again because the customer service of staff was very good. Front Desk staff at reception were polite and tried to deal with issues I brought to their attention promptly. The spa staff do a great job with massages, the staff at the excursions desk were helpful as they tried to accommodate my needs. Furthermore, The staff serving in the restaurant such as Krystal and Ms Ruth made my solo dining experience very pleasant.
Although the choice of food was limited it was good and is a reflection of authentic Caribbean cuisine made with adjustments for the foreign palate. It’s evident overall the hotel staff do their best. Hopefully with the new renovations new management are implementing this will bring the facilities back up to the standard advertised in photographs used on the company website.

My husband n I were in Montego Monday night, walking up n down the hip strip trying to find a suitable hotel with a reasonably price range, and without a reservation it seems impossible. Deja was fully booked when we got there therefore we left . We got tired of walking, so we returned to Deja hotel for their business card, for the future as the rate sounded really good.
I approached the front desk clerk, her name is Imaunie, I explained how far we were coming frm, she went for the manager, Ms Dahlia Walker, who came with a smile on her face. She asked how we were, I told her that seeing that smile I felt better already. I asked if we could stay in the lobby and book for next day. She said that it's not the norm , but seeing that it's night, she will advise the guard, of the situation.
She took us to dining room where we could get something to eat. After we ate and went into the lobby, she came to check on us, gave us soursop on a plate frm a tree at her home, I was told later. The couch was very comfortable, where we slept.
Early in the morning we were given our armbands , so we could eat while the room was cleaned. Staff in the dining room was very courteous, the food was good, also as its buffet style, we choose what we wanted. The room was very clean an pleasing to the eyes , we slept well. In the morning We were then advised that we could get towels an passes frm the front desk, for the beach across the road ,a security guard escorts us across the road, We went and further enjoyed ourselves there, we returned to Deja, rest awhile then prepared to book out . We had another meal b4 we left.
We are back home but still basking in the favor God bestowed on us, through a well thinking, compassionate person who not only is serious about her work, but have a love for people. Thank Ms Dahlia Walker and the entire staff, you will b seeing us soon, God bless you .

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. Deja should not be classified as a hotel, motel, least known a resort. It's more like a brothel if you ask me (If you can call it that). This hostel is unkept and poorly managed. The hotel seriously needs to evaluate options for improving general cleanliness and repairs. It is beyond outdated and needs substantial work (See pictures).
Upon checking in, you are given times that meals are served; well, let's just say if you aren't one of the first ones in line to eat, don't even think about it. For example, breakfast is served from 7 am to 10 am; by 8 am, they are running out of food and aren't cooking more (the food was disgusting. We spent so much money simply eating out at different restaurants and of course catching cabs). The same thing happened for lunch and dinner; they took Ricky Bobby's statement to heart: "If you're not first, your last!" They had a burger hut, which was supposed to open at a particular time. We went to get a burger, and of course, it was still closed. Once the cook finally arrived, he told us we'd have to return because he needed to go and get his supplies. Excuse me!
Our air conditioner was out for two days of our stay; the toilet overflowed, and the onsite pool was disgusting (I wouldn't let a fish swim in that pool, let alone a human swim in it). You can go across the street to the beach. However, you must wait for the security staff to walk you across the street to the beach, where you'll spend even more money renting chairs and buying food and drinks. I’d say that Deja is geared more towards local’s.
As they say in my home church: "I ask that you govern yourselves accordingly." Please proceed with caution if you choose to support such an establishment!

Stayed here 16/12-21/12 in junior suite. Room perfectly acceptable 228. Premises, pool etc shabby but ok. Food edible no more. Drinks watered down. What made Deja memorable was the staff. Lovely, accommodation reception staff. The wonderfully professional Dixon on security and the ever helpful André. Marie and Ruth in restaurant were exceptional. Decided to check in again for last few days in Jamaica. Were given junior suite 233 which was a real disappointment. Not only was it shabby the bathroom was filthy and I have pictures to prove it. We had checked in and paid, expecting a similar room to that we had on previous visit. After seeing this room we asked to speak to reception manager on day, 24/12, and asked for a better and definitely cleaner room or alternatively to be refunded and leave resort. She was rude, unprofessional and thoroughly unpleasant and stated all rooms were similar and that we would forfeit cost of one night if we decided to leave, furthermore she stated that we should consider ourselves lucky not to be charged for 3 nights booked. Was referred to Ms. Walker, Operations Manager who released us from obligation to stay. Reading other negative reviews on various sites and comments from Ms. Walker I would say instead of making excuses have rooms which have not yet been renovated cleaned thoroughly and painted and deal with unpleasant front desk manager.

My stay Deja was a short but lovely stay. I was pleased with guest service taking my bags to and from my room. I was absolutely impressed by dinning attendant Crystal. She made sure I was very comfortable by keeping my table clean of unused plates and provided my request drinks. She asked me was I pleased with my meal. YES! Crystal is a great asset and ambassador to Deja Resort. Please let her know that I loved her hospitality.

Deja Resort is an excellent choice for your next vacation. The resort's staff is unparalleled in their friendliness and helpfulness. From the well-maintained rooms to the delicious food at the buffet and grill, every aspect of your stay will exceed your expectations. The drink menu is particularly impressive, especially considering the resort's smaller size. The front doorman's helpfulness is unmatched, as he ensures guests cross Hip Street safely with a stop sign, keeping in mind the local drivers' unpredictable nature. Any issues that arise during your stay are addressed promptly and efficiently by the attentive staff. Choose Deja Resort for an unforgettable vacation experience.

The Resort and rooms were clean and well-maintained, although a bit outdated, but the nice aesthetics and ambiance made up for it. Love that the resort was right across the street from the Starbucks and beach was an added bonus. The food was amazing. The staff was accommodating, especially CRYSTAL, a hostess at the restaurant, who was nothing but short of amazing. My husband wanted fresh mint tea and not the bag tea that was being served. The next morning she had fresh mint tea for him. Wow, we were so impressed. Deja is a great budget friend resort.

What is right: - vicinity to the famous beach on the other side of the road and its free access to it - the nature-linked, almost in the waterfalls restaurant - the bizarrely beautiful sunset balconies on every floor in the stairways (so accessible for all) overlooking the ocean - rooms are decent enough too. - quiet pool - the hotel, though clearly renovated since to cater to mass tourism, breathes old times grandeur still through its architecture.
What is off? - outside guards do absolutely no effort to keep hustlers away from the property. Yes, you are on the famed Montego Bay strip (keep this in mind - you are downtown, so seaview comes with noise, the back has more quiet rooms looking at a lush garden / mountain mostly, some a parking lot), but that should not mean the guards need to tolerate everything. Every moment they "drop their guard", a hustler (and, yes, worse) trying to sell you something peeps through the fence and disturbs you. Even with guards present, if having a drink / food on the road/beachside restaurant, the verbal attention grabbing will go on continuously. And apparently it is all fine for Deja hotel. - You do not perse feel you are in an all inclusive, but you almost forget you do pay for it. Whether it is (instant, not real) coke or a draft beer, the bar below is constantly out of it. Coffee - only available when the restaurant is open and requires continuous walks through the restaurant.
In both cases, it leaves the feel the guest is not a guest perse, but a nuisance in the process of making a buck. Exception is an outright excellent reception staff.
Making this place excellent as a whole just requires three tiny interventions: - position the guards at the fence, not at the door so guests are left in peace - get a coffee device available - and stock stuff you claim to offer.

I have been staying at this hotel since 1 994 when it was Named the Gloucestershire. I last stayed there in 2015 when it was bed and breakfast. Stayed 21st September - 5th October. The hotel is now all inclusive and under new management. Although my stay was pleasant, in my opinion the hotel has deteriorated. The room was basic although it was suppose to be a superior room. The tiling on the floor of the shower room looked like it had never been cleaned so I showered in my flip flop slippers. The bathroom was in need of redecorating.( Please see photo of the bathroom ceiling)
Disposable cups were in the room for making hot drinks. I raised this with the manager and was informed that this was due to Covid. However cups and saucers were given in the dining room.
A light fitting in the room dropped down and broke, I reported the matter when it happened and again in the afternoon, the housekeeper also said she reported the matter. Nothing was done that day, the next day I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that the manager would not be available until 10.am, I informed the receptionist of the problem, the matter was looked at immediately, however the maintenance person said a replacement fitting would need to be ordered which I accepted as the light still worked.
No improvement to the Jacuzzi it remains the same water although hot it is still (no bubbles) The restaurant is small which means that sometimes when you go to eat you are asked to wait until a table becomes available.
The pool chair were in need of a good clean as some of them were almost black because they were not cleaned.
2 members of staff are still there which was good to see. On the whole the staff were friendly, a good selection of food was available to choose from, however I found some of the food very salty which is not good for people with High Blood Pressure.
I did meet with the manager to voice my opinion, she did agree that improvements need to happen and also agreed that she would look into the matter of the light fitting that dropped down as to why it took so long for the maintenance person to have a look.
Some redecorating was been done while guest were at the hotel, which in my opinion was not acceptable.
On a positive note the location of the hotel is good only a short taxi ride into town. There are 2 small bars, a small cafe and a small grill.
I am very disappointed and therefore would not be staying there again. There are other all inclusive hotels which are superb and less expensive that Deja
