The Wild Orchid is a beautiful resort with several restaurants and bars on property. We visited the end of August, and the resort was not very crowed. We were able to walk up to each restaurant and be seated; no reservations are needed except for Teppanyaki Hibachi tables. The food was just ok, but you can have your fill as this is an all-inclusive resort. There is sister resort on property – St James, however, it appeared that all the restaurants and entertainment was on the Wild Orchid side. Busy season is mid-November until after the Christmas holidays we were told. Check-in and out process was Ok. There are two desks but be aware there may be only 1 person working so the lobby area can be chaotic. There is a transportation / transfer company that also has a desk in the lobby area, but they are very pricey!! The pool and beach locations were very nice, and we were able to find lounge chairs without much hassle. The mood was upbeat with music being played and activities poolside. We reserved a Junior Suite Ocean View King and the view from our balcony was beautiful. The room was enjoyable and spacious; the pictures on the website are pretty accurate. In the sleeping area, there was a cloth sofa, a coffee table, a desk area, and a large dresser with marble top. Bed and pillows were comfy. The bathroom section has two sinks, a large "jacuzzi-type" tub, spacious walk -in shower with ceiling waterfall head and separate head for those that don't want they overhead stream of water. On the other side of the glass wall is a enclosed separtate toilet area. I will say this space is small, and we experienced water would leak over into this spot if either of us was taking a shower. This resort does not provide an iron or iron board, but it does have a clothes steamer in each room. I believe some enhancements should be considered as no resort is perfect, however, overall, I would recommend this resort.

The highlight of this facility is the choice and quality of food available through several themes restaurants. We had amazing food throughout our stay.
We stayed in a preferred room at the St James part of the hotel. The room was kept really clean and minibar well maintained with soft drinks and beer. It was also supposed to have rum but after the first quarter bottle in stock on arrival this was never replenished.
Facilities at the poolside are poorly managed. There is a shortage of sunbeds and these were reserved with towels by the early birds. All the loungers would be reserved like this even though loads lay empty for most of the day. The hotel could improve this by removing towels after 2 hours to let others use the facilities. We booked a cabana for 3 days of our stay which at least gave us a guaranteed place albeit for €110 a day. Service at these was terrible for 2 of the 3 days with only one drink served across the course of a morning.
The spa and hydrotherapy pool is excellent and well worth a visit.
The staff in the restaurants were very attentive. Not so much the bar tenders. We were told our all inclusive price included tips but clearly small bill tips are expected at the bars if you want to have any decent service. The bars often ran out of ingredients for cocktails and on our last night the piano bar even ran out of glasses - we left after waiting 20 mins at the bar.
The hospitality staff at the St James lobby and lounge area were ok but no smiles and looked like they were fed up and not really bothered about serving guests which was a shame as the staff overall were excellent.
Checkout was utter chaos - we ended up lugging our own luggage to our private transfer.

Selected the hotel as we had previous experience of the hotel chain in Mexico. There was several differences, some good, some bad. Booked a preferred club room which came with swim up room and butler, the two butlers were great, helping to solve issues, make reservations at restaurants, reserving sun beds on beach or by pool and ensuring ice coolers were filled with beer and water. The rooms were large and clean with plenty storage available, bed was large and very comfortable but the provision of toiletries was hit & miss, we had to ask several times for these but it’s a provision that should be provided without issue. The mini bar and snacks were topped up 4 times in 10 days even though no “privacy” notes were on doors, once again the butlers had to deal with this. After a 15hr journey to get to the hotel and an efficient check in we were grabbed by staff to ask us to join their membership club when all we wanted was a shower and something to eat. Breakfast and lunch was a buffet style, grills were available at beach and main pool, whereas dinner was “a la carte” style, reservations could be made at any of the 6 restaurants. Oceana restaurants was our favourite, serving sea food. The resort was well presented and the weather was great. Entertainment was “cruise” style at the outside stage area. Drinks at the bars were great, bar staff were efficient and friendly.

Very honest review… the food was great, drinks were strong and tasted great! Definitely short staffed as room service wait was over an hour almost every time. Room service food was hit or miss but the restaurants and buffets were very impressive. No reservations for dinner either so getting there as soon as they open is a must to get a seat and not have to wait over an hour. Coffee machine was broken most days at their coffee place which was sad. Was incredibly hard to find spots by the pool or beach so we ended up having to pay 100 a day for a cabana as it was the only spot open. House keeping did skip our room for two days and when we went to ask for towels at the front desk (twice) they were apologetic but still didn’t get any clean towels until the following day in the afternoon. When our buttons to flush the toilet broke they did get that fixed ASAP which was appreciated. A ton of activities at the resort which is perfect for families or couples who like to stay busy. Beach and pool volleyball, bags, darts, ping pong, water activities, basketball, tennis, shows by the pool, piano bar, and evening shows were all so fun! We still love to relax and chill on vacation as well which was easy to do more so on the beach or certain pool that was quieter(again hard to find spots anywhere though). Overall decent vacation.

Of course I read a lot of reviews before choosing Wild Orchid and a few mentioned the lack of seating around the pool and on the beach. I inquired to the hotel directly before booking about this and was told that there is plenty of seating. I'd estimate that there 120 seats for 300 people. It is written that there is no saving seats early but each day there were towels on almost every seat (pool & beach) by 7am. I went out early, 6:30 am, one day and after breakfast at 8am our seats were taken by others! It was obnoxiously crowded on the beach and the seating around the pool. We chose this place because we thought it would be the quiet, adult only, romantic. wrong wrong wrong....on the second day there the employees went on strike...no bartenders.....can you imagine????, only 1 restaurant open (out of 9), no housekeeping (not a big deal for us on the housekeeping), waited 3 days to get a robe delivered to the room. When we returned home I contacted Secrets/Hyatt to get somewhat compensated for what we just paid a lot of money for. I was offered the equivalent of a 1 nights stay in points and to sign a waiver stating that I wouldn't post my experience online. Just today I received the final reply from Secrets/Hyatt that was all they could offer me. I really expected a top tier vacation here and it was the first vacation that I couldn't wait to go home!

I recently visited Secrets Montego Bay in Jamaica expecting it to be on a par with the Sandals resorts. I was very disappointed. Staff were very pleasant and bedrooms were clean and comfortable with lovely views. One reason I paid a large excess for preferred guest accommodation was for the private beach but I still needed to be up at 6.45 to get a sunbed with a shade in that section as by 7 the area was being bombarded by guests staying in the other parts of the hotel. Whether this was because the hotel was at capacity with the overwhelming influx of Becks Seeds guests from the USA and insufficient sunbeds on the main beach I am unsure. I even heard one saying isn’t this beach reserved for Becks??!! Because of the number of guests it meant sometimes waiting over an hour to get a table for dinner and the bars were insufficiently staffed to cope with the numbers meaning it could take a while to get a drink. I was most upset one evening when a major American football event was staged on huge screens in the main entertainment area (most eating reserved for Becks!) and one of the other open bars which meant access to the bar was virtually impossible. The normal entertainment programme that evening was moved to the beach - a complete insult to Silver Birds and the dance group - as there was no seating or bar service in the location and you had to stand on the beach to watch. I have never before been to a hotel where management were seen regularly walking around but not once did I see them either smile or engage with any guest - probably they realised that putting their huge profits above the comfort of the normal guests was not being accepted very well. I had pre-booked to return next year but have now cancelled as I felt let down by the quality of service. Even at check in I was left sitting as the one receptionist was dealing with another couple after which she left and a new receptionist didn’t even know I was waiting to check in. Then she was so intent in playing with her hair she didn’t give me as much information as the other girl seemed to give the other clients. On a minor note I thought it was surprising that on arrival there were no wet towels and welcome drink offered - a small detail but one which even lesser hotels seem to courteously provide. One last note I had been intending to visit the Spa whilst on holiday but the prices were extortionate so they seemed very short of business. I heard other guests remarking about the cost. Sorry Secrets but you did not reach my expectations for the money paid and I will probably not use the company again

We have had several all inclusive experiences with resorts in cancun, punta cana, and Rivereria Maya. This was our first stay in a secrets location and first stay in jamaica for our 10 year wedding anniversary. I will say the beach was pretty and small but the pictures give you that expectation. It was a bit rocky in spots but overall a nice compact beach area. You may have trouble finding a spot, especially with shade but we have had that experience elsewhere also. Upon arrival, we passed all these honeymoon/anniversary/birthday banners on doors and unfortunately, when we arrived at our room there was no setup. I was disappointed because I knew it was requested in our room and nothing was present. We also had to wait for dinner 3 out of our 4 nights we were there. One night was a 3-hour wait, another 1.5 hours, and another a 30-minute delay in opening. I understand things happen, but I think there should be an accessible buffet or other dining if you don't want to wait for dinner. I shouldn't have to order room service to make sure I get food before 9 o'clock. The only reason the other dinner was on time was because we had to wait in line for 30 minutes before opening to get food at 6. For us being on vacation hopefully means I am not on a schedule. If you don't rush down to wait the restaurants will be full and you will wait till they empty back out. I did call the first morning we were there to schedule the hibachi grill so we could hopefully enjoy that. Unfortunately, they didn't even have any openings till Friday which was 4 more nights away which wasn't even within our stay. They did offer me to come to the 9 o clock dinner the next night and purchase the lobster which I think was $150 a person. That is a bit ridiculous and disappointing as well. I don't know if there are too many people or not enough restaurants but this was a very frustrating part of our trip. The overall service for us was nothing exceptional. Some staff went above expectations but most did not. This is different from our other all-inclusive experiences. Overall, Jamaica was a beautiful place, unfortunately, this will not make us book another trip to a Secrets location nor go back to Jamaica.
Ps. Don't do the 90-minute sales pitch. Save your time and spend the extra money on your excursions or spa treatment.

I don't usually waste my time writing reviews, but in this case I think I'll help a lot of people. I won't say 100%, but 90% of the employees weren't friendly. That's fine, but they didn't care at all about solving anything! We upgraded to the preferential club to have exclusive treatment, as we always do at other resorts. Every morning when we arrived at the beach in the preferential area to get a chair at 8am, they were already occupied by occupants of the other buildings, most of whom were not preferential. When I complained, they said that if I paid $150 per room per day they would make the reservation for me. It seems like a joke after I only paid $1050 for the upgrade to be in the preferential area! It doesn't make any sense! There are only two restaurants that you need to make a reservation to eat at. We stayed at the hotel for 8 days, and on the first day they said that there were no more reservations available. Seriously? We paid over $10k for 1 week and you guys can't find a way to accommodate 3 people for the whole week? We only need 1 day to try the Hibashy And there was no point in talking to anyone, supervisor, manager, general manager, you'll just get angrier, one more ignorant than the other! They want to sell you everything, to get a table you have to buy wine, otherwise they don't guarantee anything! The Share team, my God. They don't say it's a time share, they offer you everything to go, and say you can leave at any time, hahaha, 3 hours of despair lol, everyone treats you very well, one smile more beautiful than the other you'll even think you're at another resort. They start asking for $120,000 for the package and keep changing managers and lowering it until it reaches $5300, then when you say NO, omg everyone gets ugly, no one smiles anymore, embarrassing! New Year's Eve, if you want to make sure you won't spend New Year's Eve eating standing up, they offer packages for $200 per person, lol! So we decided to make sure we wouldn't eat standing up on New Year's Eve, and we reserved 4 tables to spend with friends, we bought 4 bottles of wine, they only charged us 7! Hahaha I know it sounds like a joke, but it's not, and to get out those 3 additional bottles, another 3 hours trying. Tip: don't wait until it's time to leave to check out your hotel expenses, and that's where the trick is, you get off thinking it's going to be a smooth check out your taxi arrives to take you to the airport, and then you're faced with additional charges, and note that the person who is closing your account can't delete anything, so they'll make a phone call, then that person will call the manager, the manager the general manager, the director, the vice president, and then they have to wait for the president's email to see if they authorize the removal! My friend, you've already lost taxis, planes, wives, etc. I know some people will say, "Wow, I've been to that resort and I loved it, blah blah blah blah!"nele ice me go to other chain , highter chance to be happy !

Our 15th visit to Jamaica we chose to stay at Secrets. We had a garden room on the ground floor great accessibility to the pool and beach. The room was lovely hit and miss with coffee and tea facilities room service was excellent so was the food. Housekeeping I felt they were short staffed as some days the room wasn’t done til 4.30 we only had a full set of towels and face cloths probably twice in 3 weeks. Floor wasn’t swept and we had ripped pillowcases. Toilet roll was scarce and one day I had to go hunting down housekeeping. We’ve never had a mosquito problem in Jamaica but we were eaten alive even in the room we couldn’t really sit outside the room because of this. The beach was lovely and the pool but the constant tacky music that was piped around the resort drove us nuts I even knew what song what was coming next! We tried to smother the speakers with towels and asked staff to turn it off it conflicts with the music from the pool. Oshin Levi were fantastic with the entertainment and worked very hard. The restaurants were fabulous especially French and Italian cheveraldo kenroy Devon were fantastic The barman in the Piano bar was rude and blatantly served people around us and ignored us on our first night so we never visited again. The music and singers at night were fantastic. The pool service was ok but lacked staff not up to standard the ran out of brandy and ice on a few occasions this is a 5 star hotel! The pool area wasn’t cleaned and I picked up straws glass and rubbish most days. I felt the hotel was understaffed.
It was a lovely holiday but the small stuff didn’t make a five star review. We are returning to beautiful Jamaica in January but not here

The sheets had marks on them such as blood or dirt marks from the sheets being dragged. The rugs on the floor near the bed were ripped in places. The shower head was leaking and spraying out water from the top and I had to request for it to be fixed. There was a shortage of washcloths every single day that we were there and requests were made at least 3 times per day for them which is unheard of! The response that I received was we are short staffed. If you are short staffed you should not accept more reservations than the current staff can handle on a daily basis. Buffet staff was very unfriendly and looked over worked. Front Desk never answers the phone. I literally had to walk downstairs from the 4th floor in order to speak to someone about multiple attempts to get washcloths. Washcloths are a part of housekeeping cleaning the room every day (an amenity that I paid for)!

We went for the Christmas holidays, it was full but there was nearly no wait for restaurants. The beach lounge chairs got full because people who have privilege rooms go to the regular side because the beach is nicer. But if you reserve your chairs around 7am you’ll have no problem. So it depends if you are an early riser or not!
There are more places to choose from in the Montego Bay area.
