Last week was our first time in Jamaica and we had a blast overall. We were there during Jamaica's 60th Independence Day. They had plenty of events (fashion shows, concerts, catered events, etc..) planned to celebrate their independence. The Breathless Hotel Spa was the BEST!!! The locals on our excursions were very nice. I would definently visit Jamaica again!! On to the flip side, I wasn't to pleased with Secrets Wild Orchid. My issues below: • Upon arrival we were bombarded with registering for a "time/vacation share" meeting. They didn't even give us time to go to our rooms and relax after a long flight before asking us to sign up for something. • We had no drinking glasses in our room like others. • The day we checked in others had fruit/cheese tray, and champagne in their rooms, NOT US! • We were told they had no Hennesy. Then mysteriously it appeared. When we decided to get a shot we realized it was Whiskey poured into a Hennesy bottle! Hennessey drinkers know the difference!! • Seaside resturant advertised the incorrect menu. Wven the host statedshe been telling them to change it for months • We were told room service was 24 hours. NOT the case!! Room services stops at 10:30pm. One time they didn't even send the cheese with my nachos. • One night for dinner we decided to visit the Bordeaux for dinner. Once we were seated the waiter took our drink and food orders. About 10 minutes later a host inform us they had to move us to an outside table because we had on shorts. No one ever told us about a dress code PLUS they had already seated and served us!! We went ahead and moved to a table outside however, we had to replace our orders all over again. Then this stray cat kept coming to our table pretty much begging for food. By this point I was so frustrated I just left. The money we spent on this trip we expected top notch service and that wasn't the case. Personally I wouldn't reccomend this resort.…
The resort is ok, but a spa visit toward the end of my stay tipped this from an ok vacation to one of the worst ever. The massage therapist injured my wrist through aggressive manipulation which resulted in a trip to the emergency room in Montego Bay and follow up with my doctor back home. To top that experience off, one of the resort cats urinated down on me from atop a ledge while I was waiting to see the resort nurse! I HAVE NEVER! It's over a month later and the resort has yet to address my injury, my urine stained clothes or my inconvenience. The resort itself is decent. The beach was small but nice with very little seaweed (especially compared to Cancun) and not overly crowded. Our room was on the first floor and smelled like a sewer - we couldn't get the smell out! The furnishings were a bit dated and we had to track down clean towels every day. Room service was a 2+ hour wait, which was disappointing when the restaurants were also crowded. The food was ok. Check-in was also a nightmare for some of our party. This was not an inexpensive vacation, especially when airfare is through the roof. What should have been a welcome escape from the craziness that was the last two years only led to more suffering for me. Think twice and consider another location before booking here.…
I've had this trip planned for a few months for our 10 year anniversary. The resort has everything that you need. No need to worry about food choices, drink preferences (they have a wide variety of options). Also there are three resorts connected to each other (Breathless and Secrets St. James) and they all have access to every bar and beach. Room: We had a garden/ocean view room with a balcony, king size bed and a jacuzzi. There's a mini-bar filled with beverages. Some rooms may seem a little outdated but we didn't care, we were only in our room to sleep. Also, room service is available by ordering through the tablet in your room just make sure you see what the average wait time is, especially after 12am when people leave the club drunk and hungry. Resort: I think there are like 7-10 restaurants in total across the resort, and the buffet breakfast is amazing (soo many options). Plenty of activities to do each day. If you want to drink all day at the pool, I won't blame you. There are some excursions on the resort as well (sailing, glass bottom boat ride in the ocean, towed tubing) these activities were $40 a person. They even have a jerk chicken and coconut cart that goes around all day until about 1am. There is a nightclub on the resort too, 1030pm to 2am nice little vibe but if you go every night expect the majority of the same songs. If you want to party off post Pier 1, 2727 and Margaritaville are all located in Montego bay. Excursions: A little expensive, but worth it. There is an outpost that has horseback riding, ziplining, atv, dune buggy, bamboo river rafting, a bar and a pool. *We did horseback riding and bamboo river rafting. I did hear Rick's cafe (2 hrs away) was amazing (jump off a 10 and/or 30 ft cliff) Recommendations: Search around to get the best price and see if your credit card company offers bonus points by booking through their site (for me Chase Travel Rewards had better deals and prices) Timeshare: Unlimited Vacations Club will try to entice you to sit down and hear their presentation. It is supposed to be 90 mins but we all know that's not the case. We took advantage of it because we received $300 in credits for the spa. My mind was already made up before the presentation but played along and prices look better than other timeshares presentations. Highly recommend you stick to you gut and plan and tell them no consistently (say it does align with your personal plans, don't tell them why, it just makes it last longer). They'll bring in the manager and the other manager to try to get you to buy. They do all the number tricks to get a price that looks like a good deal (conduct UVC reviews online before, if you plan on taking advantage of receiving some credits towards something) In the end I talked them down to a 5 year contract that wasn't presented to me in the beginning just to see how far I could go. *Bring cash with you, just for tipping and if you go off the resort. Enjoy your time and get away from reality for a few days or a week. I could go on but this should be enough for you to make a decision. Yah Mon!…
This resort is…..well they have the best pool bar in MoBay! Wide variety of dining options, and if you don’t want to be in the pool, the tops side of the sugar reef bar is awesome. My favorite was Andrae! My 2nd pick - in the pool bar would be Junior. Best trip ever, And for a good Filet Mignon I would recommend Bourdeaux- the omelet station in the World cafe is very good, fresh fruit, happy people, world famous coffee😊 what’s not to love! Will return sooner than later.
Just came back and can't wait to go back The vibe is so much different then other places I have visited. There's so much to do whether on the resort or excursions not enough time. So here's my review of the resort. The lobby area is quite small and there is a bit of a process checking in. However the staff get through it and provide Excellent service. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the pool and ocean. Absolute gorgeous view especially at sunset. Yes it was a bit noisy being by the main pool but we didn't mind. The room itself was good however it did need some maintenance. Our bar fridge was never restocked we did however get room service to bring up whatever we needed. The ordering through the app and tablet are great but I did find that it would take about 2 hours to get our food. Calling in to room service was much faster. The pools were great the staff at the main pool bar were amazing. Alvin, captain, Andre, Tyrone, akeem, Daniel were all great. We had such a good time and will miss them all. Food was great at most places. The buffet was good, jerk chicken cart was excellent, Bearfoot grill was great as well, blue mountain restaurant was amazing ask for Sanya she went above and beyond, Bordeaux was also really good. Portofino and himitsu were not that good. I would have rather gone back to blue mountain again. The entertainment team lead by Jeanie kept the party bumping. Went to the foam party at breathless and that was fun. DJ Slimjay kills it with his sets and dance moves. Whether at the club or at the pool if he is playing you will have a good time. Overall a great experience with great people who shared their stories. Making genuine human connections goes a long way.…
My husband and I booked a vacation at Secrets Wild Orchid to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal. The wedding planning staff and spa staff are phenomenal. Nekeisha and Shanlle in the wedding office sent me several email messages during the planning phases of the renewal. They provided me with prompt responses to all of my questions; and they provided me with ample information to plan an unforgettable vow renewal. When we arrived at the resort, we had a welcome letter from Shanelle and an appointment to meet with her, the photographer, and the minister. The day of our renewal, Shanelle called to check in with me before the renewal, and then she came to our room and personally escorted me to the wedding gazebo for the renewal. When it rained during the renewal, she went to get umbrellas for us and our guests. Benieve, the Spa Director, was also very responsive to my email messages during the planning process. She answered all of my questions prior to my arrival, and booked my makeup appointment for our vow renewal. Terreca was my makeup artist in the spa. She asked for a picture of the look I wanted, and let me check the makeup after each step to ensure I got the look I wanted. I loved my makeup so much that I kept it on all day; the picture below at night shows the makeup still in tact. I am not a regular makeup wearer; I do not like the feel of it, and I always take it off as soon as an event is over. I felt absolutely gorgeous all day! My husband and I went to the spa for a couples massage. It was a luxurious experience! We started with hydrotherapy and then had our amazing massages. The ambiance in the spa is extremely relaxing. I highly recommend the wedding and spa services at Secrets Wild Orchid!!…
It's been a month since we were there but I can't forget our great butlers Betty and Andre. We had a group of 8 and they were able to coordinate everything we needed for our larger group. They and the other butlers would set up towels on the beach and coolers of drinks every morning and took care of our dinner reservations every night coordinating the whole time with the other butlers from our group. Perhaps the best thing they did was recommending the Breathless Rooftop bar where Chevonne was so great, we went back for lunch a second day in a row. Even taking care of us through the afternoon rainstorms, he would tell us about the island, make us real Jamaican drinks, and made sure we had a great time.
Had a great time ...Brandon at checkin was awesome, made my trip great ..room was ready ,he was on it whenever I had a question or concern ..Orane and the breathless pool bar was great enjoy talking with him ...just a overall great time .I can't recall all the great people I interacted with be I definitely remember Brandon he was great
