Shutting down for what? I can see parts of a resort being closed for refurbishment/renovation but that sort of work is typically carried out during the low season. It is quite unusual (although not unheard of) for a resort to shut down completely during renovations; the loss of revenue is usually just too great.
As far as closing down for good or rebranding, I suppose anything is possible but when I hear such things about any resort, I always look at the source of such information to see if it's credible or not. If you're seeing some official announcement made by AM Resorts, then I would treat that as 100% credible. If the information is coming from anywhere else, then I'd look into it a bit further.
Totally depends on how much you use your butler. If you have them reserving your daily lounger at the beach or pool, arranging reserved dining and helping with excursions, then you might consider $10 to $20 per day.
