At SeaGarden Beach Resort, guests have called out the plethora of amenities and the hotel's prime location near the airport and shopping, which offers convenience and a private beach retreat. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with lively entertainment, is a highlight for many travelers, though some have concerns over loud music and dated rooms.
Opinions on service vary, with some praising the caring staff and others experiencing slow responses. The value proposition of the resort receives criticism for being overpriced, and while cleanliness generally receives accolades, there are occasional lapses in housekeeping.

Ok. We arrived at this hotel expecting the worst after so many poor ratings on Trip Advisor. However, we were pleasantly surprised and had worried unnecessarily.
The hotel itself is a little tired, but we thought this made it quirky and it added to the whole Jamaican experience. It’s locally run and uses local staff, who were all very friendly and accommodating. It is exceptionally clean and all staff were very hard working.
Our room was huge and air conditioned and it overlooked the gardens. Make sure, if walking is an issue you ask for a ground floor as there isn’t a lift.
There is a pool. We didn’t use it as it’s quite cold water and we prefer the beach. There are also pool snacks that are open during the day and then again at 10pm and a small onsite shop.
The beach is across a quiet road, but a man likes to stop the traffic for you so that you can cross safely. It’s a private, beautiful beach. There are plenty of sunbeds and some parasols so you can choose to sit in the hot sun, or in the shade. A beach bar that sells good bar side snacks and great iced cocktails. Service there is good. The music starts at 11am and the dj plays fun games throughout the day. There is also the addition of cute little ghost crabs to watch as you sunbathe. There are guys outside the walls who try to sell you things, including marijuana, but they don’t bother you once inside.
The gardens are lovely and there’s an African grey parrot that wolf whistles, tonnes of carp to watch and also a little terrapin.
The nightly entertainment programme is good fun and lasts from 8-10, then you can go across to the disco with Country if you wish. The fire show is good and there’s a range of singers to dance to.
The hotel is quite central and so close to the airport so handy for trips out. We popped into Montego Bay and learned about the history and we also did the Martha Brae which was beautiful and very tranquil.
My only negatives were the food. I love trying new things and there was plenty of that there, but I dislike boned meat and that really was the only option. No matter whether you have jerk chicken, curried dishes or stews, they were all packed with bones! We did go to the Italian though and that was good! The other thing was the check out- they don’t provide a room to shower in so the only option is use the cold beach shower and then use a public toilet to prepare for the plane journey. Not great when you have an evening flight!
Anyway, we probably won’t be returning, purely because we like to try new places. But give this hotel a chance. We enjoyed it! .

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we had to move up our date of departure to avoid a huge winter storm that closed our airport the day we were schedule to go to Jamaica. So we booked 3 nights as the cost was reasonable, reviews looked good and it is only about a mile from the airport. This hotel was beautifully maintained inside and out. I believe it was built in the 70's and has a little of that vibe. Beautiful gardens, fountains, shuffleboard also made for great photo op's. Our room was supersized to our surprise and actually the size of 2 rooms at no extra cost but that's probably cause we were out of season and there may not have been full occupancy. In any event we had a ground level room with a beautiful patio to walk out to. The open air dining room was very pleasant. Typical Jamaican food choices. Omelet station at breakfast. Usually chicken, fish and meat available at dinner with sides. Very pretty private beach area and bar, fun entertainment including steel drum group that played continuously for at least an hour with no stopping and a fire breathing dance group near the pool at night. The pool was large, clean and beautiful. Was definitely a place I'd return to. Not the level of a Beaches or Sandals resort but far from the price too.

Booked this resort for a week kinda of a last minute thing and for the good price. We spent a little extra to get ocean view deluxe and was worth it because it turned out to be a rehabbed room over looking ocean with great AC. We also found out it is the only building with an elevator only down side is street below is a cruise strip for the locals and loud car music back and forth at night. Also every time you go out on your balcony someone wants to sell you pot.The original rooms in the courtyard do NOT have elevators and have 8 floors so keep that in mind ! When you check in ask the bellhop Delroy to give you a short tour of property. It is very historic and one of the very few left that is solely owned by Jamaican’s. In the Early 70’s and 80’s it was a club med. the architecture is great and be sure to explore, a lot of original paintings and other stuff exist from long ago. If you’re looking for that loud party pool stuff with the bubbles and all you won’t find it here. Pool is small but quiet. Beach is a little path across the street we are beach people so that’s where we hang out. Plenty of beach chairs to be had and great snorkeling and swimming. If your an Airplane buff the approach path is right in front of you for landings. Beach bar is great they have lunch from 1100 to 530. Burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese and jerk chicken ! Didn’t like the loud music at the beach and trivia contests etc. usually that is pool stuff and beach is quiet time. But DJ was amusing and funny. Getting on to the food the main buffet was ok they do repeat a lot of items for the main meats. Always chicken pork and fish though. Plenty of fresh veggies and rice. Made to order omelet cook in the mornings breakfast always good. Only thing we did not like was late dinner start time. 7:00 for everything. We didn’t do the 2 sit down reservation places because by the time you ate it would be 8:00. So we stuck with Buffett every night, you can be first one in line and get a good seat ( beware it fills up FAST like running 🏃 of the bulls lol) I would definitely come back here again if the price was right. Nice quiet place with old Jamaica charm! Make sure you say hello to Mr Grey the parrot 🦜 back in the court yard he will do a trick for you then whistle at you when you walk away 😀

DO NOT STAY at this resort! This resort needs a total tear down and not to re-open. The building is old, dirty and falling apart. The lobby carpet is old, dirty and full of stains. We did not get the room we reserved and when we brought it to the receptionists attention she blew it off and stated they were booked. We did not have comforters or pillows on our bed upon checking into our room either. We booked 5 nights and only had 1 set of towel each in the bathroom. When calling down to request housekeeping, it took 3 days (Saturday, we checked in on Wednesday) for someone to finally bring towels after calling numerous time. The bathroom showerhead was disgusting. The food is not much better smh. There is no bacon at breakfast and very limited drink options. The alcohol is bottom shelf only, no options for any brand you may recognize. Some of the staff is friendly, others not so much. The location is close to the airport, so you will hear arrivals but also a quick taxi drive to night life off the resort. The beach is small and you must cross the street to access it. I did not utilize the pool as it was rather small. Arnese or Arneice (not sure the spelling) at the front desk was the worst and not helpful at all. I asked for a email and or phone # for complaints and stated she did not have any. Had to waits days to speak to a manager only for them to offer no compensation what so ever. You could not pay me to stay here again.

Where do I start…me and my girlfriend stayed here for a week, arriving home this morning.
Having checked in, and seen our room, we were pleasantly surprised as it was a lot nicer than what the photos online displayed, however a major issue was that our safe was broken. We informed a member of the cleaning team, who told us they would forward the message, which never happened. A few days later, we checked our wallet and 20 pounds of our money had been taken by the cleaner. Great.
We booked a city tour through the hotel, which was over priced as hell, however it was a good hour out. The driver who took us round, named Willy, mentioned he would take us on an excursion with activities for $300. The next day, he takes us, and guess what, his price didn’t include activities. We hadn’t budgeted for this, so we had to drive 3 hours back home. I refused to pay the full $300 for obvious reasons, miss selling his service, and that his day had been cut by 6 hours. We said we’d give him $200, still too much tbh but rather be safe, and he replied “I’m not going to have to fight you then”. This wasn’t pleasant, considering we are 2 young white people in the middle of Jamaica.
Finally, when crossing the road to reach the beach, you will constantly be hassled by people selling. I get they need to make money, however I’ve paid to go on a relaxing holiday, not be nagged at whenever I cross the road. One person threatened to kidnap my girlfriend. I didn’t grab his name unfortunately.
Apart from these items listed above, it was a very nice holiday. The food is good, the beach is nice, all the lifeguards were great, some staff tend to be rude, however I do get that as they work awfully long hours.

Right from check in they had us booked for 1 night instead of 7 nights, waited almost half an hour for them to get it straightened out. Then up four floors with our luggage because there is no elevator to a room that had the curtains zip tied not to open to access the balcony. Once on the balcony it was a view of the restaurant roof top and air condition units!! Guess that's why they didn't want anyone out there, next room was half the size but had a pool view. Bed was rock hard and smaller than a Queen, had to ask for a bed spread as there was only one sheet on the bed. The pillows were like airline pillows...small, need extra pillows. Now let's start on the bathroom. They rarely brought wash cloths, and we had to run around in the shower to get wet, no pressure at all (good thing I'm bald) and the shower leaked so bad that the bath towel was soaked after each shower. The food at this place was the same for breakfast, lunch and supper, very little change to the menu, and the menu sucked!!!! Unless you are Jamaican, and I'm not. The first couple of meals it's OK to eat local meals but every meal was the same. Another person wrote that it was sloop in a pan, I couldn't agree more. I'm pastie white and when I talked to other people they all agreed that the food sucks. The hot tub was in repairs all week (couldn't use), pool was very clean and could always get clean towels. The staff were very friendly and did everything they could to help. The beach area was always clean and organized, food at the beach was the best at the resort, burgers/fries, grilled cheese. Bar staff and entertainment staff were all excellent which made the stay barrable. Unless you enjoy Jamaican food a lot, like every meal. Do not go there! We won't ever again go to a resort that is not a main stream resort. Once bitten twice shy.

Remember this is a 3-star resort with a private beach located near the airport, very unique. We loved the ambience, sunset views, spaciousness of the gardens/grounds, recently painted rooms (in our wing), and remodeled jacuzzi. The staff was friendly, service oriented, and kept the hotel property clean. Breakfast didn't start til 7am, so we liked being "forced" to sleep in a bit from our normal work schedule! We enjoyed the variety of Jamaican food options on the dinner buffet, then we got creative and ordered jerk chicken or cheeseburgers from the beach grill (open til 5:30pm). Our garden view room was on the 3rd floor with great AC and mostly good water pressure (except when others on our hall were showering). We had a mini frig and housekeeping brought us 2 bottles of water each day. Our building had stairs only, so we took a little tour of the tower building (5 floors, near the pool) and discovered it does have an elevator. Good to know, as many reviews don't mention that feature.

This all inclusive hotel in Montego Bay is a traditional Jamaican hotel offering a wide range of amenities. The hotel is spotlessly clean in all areas and the staff are friendly and happy to help. We stayed in a superior Queen room with ocean view which was very comfortable. The cleaner visited every day replenishing water, towels and toiletries. There is a wide range of food and beverages on offer throughout the day at various locations and a beach bar serving delicious jerk chicken/pork and burgers together with a wide range of cocktails. There is a lovely pool and a fantastic private beach with a number of different areas where you can either relax, swim or participate in complimentary/and paid for water sport activities and entertainment. There are some terrible reviews on here but please don’t be put off.. having toured the whole island and stayed in a number of different accommodations we were very impressed and had an amazing few days to end our journey through Jamaica.

The easiest way to know if this place is for you is to know what it is not: a luxury resort with a party scene or kids club like Sandals or Beaches with a Disney-fied experience of staff falling all over to help. It's an authentic, locally owned place, which means actual Jamaican food in the buffet (goat curry, baked chicken, cassava, saltfish) and hardworking staff that will treat you with respect IF you treat them with respect. Service and amenities are inconsistent, so if small details bother you, look elsewhere. On the plus side, Sea Garden is a tremendous value for the money, nice private beach with a fun view of incoming airplanes, and a wonderful location, easy to get anywhere and shopping within safe walking distance.

Just left our 1 week stay there. Worst place I have ever stayed at!! Stay away!! The hotel is outdated and broken- even in the newer wing. The food is boring and minimal and not great- except the omelettes; They were really good. They only have 1 a la carte restaurant. It is an "Italian restaurant" When we booked the lady at the desk didn't recommend it. She said people complain because it is like "Jamaican/Italian" I didn't mind it. It was a nice change from the same old food at the buffet. There are trip hazards everywhere! We witnessed 2 falls which required hospital visits. If you are hoping for a balcony, make sure you book an upgraded room. The social media marketing for this place is fantastic, but you don't get what you see. Very deceiving! They do not have courtesy rooms for late departures. If you want a shower you have to go to the beach and use the shower there which is cold water and in the sand. Bring your own soap/shampoo. The smoke alarm in our room was +10 years old and did not have any batteries. The shower will scald you or freeze you at any given time and the water pressure is awful. Customer service training is needed- some good people there, but many were clearly hating their jobs. Overall I would not recommend. Save your money and go elsewhere!
