It is a small place but not too small, but with a good kitchen, swimmingpool, airco in the rooms and very kind people who are willing to help at all times.
It is a safe place, car can be parked inside and there is a guard at all times.
There are different little areas where you can sit relax or drink/ eat.
From here it is not far to the airport and close to the main route.

We stayed there, a mission group of 12. We were working in a medical clinic in Cite Soleil, Haiti. The hotel, landscaping, staff, food and facilities are awesome. Rooms were clean, the hot showers were nice, and everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable and at home. When a couple of team members became ill, the guard and front desk clerk summonsed the manager/owner, and he was there in less than 5 minutes, and this was at 2 AM. They gave us water, ice, rehydration solution, lemon juice and soup to help with the problem. They were very concerned and never left our side. We went to the Hopital Bernard and were taken care of quickly, The ER doctor was from Atlanta, and the nurse from California. It was great to have good emergency facilities within 3 miles of the hotel. The manager/owner knew exactly what to do and where to go, and drove us in his personal truck. He and his son even carried our sick friend down the steps. Because of the love and personal attention we received from the staff, and the super nice hotel, this place is at the top of our list !!!!! The dining room waitresses knew most of us by name, by mid-week. Palm Inn is a special place in a special country :) You should be pleasantly surprised... Thanks to Roberto and Rudy for taking us under their wing and taking such good care of us !!!!! The only improvement needed is the roads outside the hotel are huge potholes...

I fell in love with this little gem of a place the first time I stayed here. Just returned from my second stay, and it was still every bit as comfortable, cozy and safe as my first stay. The hotel staff are competent, eager to help. The hotel manager was wonderful to work with, accomodating our group of 20 people. Can't wait to come back for another stay.

I was here for one week for work and found the Palm to be an oasis after busy days. The staff was wonderful, thoughtful and courteous (yes, a bit slower than what may be expected in the U.S., but we just factored that into our planning and all was fine). The rooms are clean, the food good (especially the omlets) and the hotel is safe. Very close to the airport. A good value for visitors to PaP.

I want to like this hotel I really do. But there are many issues from making this hotel more competitive.

For $82 US it is one of the better deals in town but what does this mean in Haiti? Most hotels are overpriced and lacking in services and quality.

Haiti is a tough place to do business in but there are hotels which have their act together e.g. Visa Lodge, Villa Creole, (new) Montana.

One plus about Palm Inn is that it has really nice staff persons e.g. front desk, and security. The grounds are lovely and the pool also looks inviting.

A few issues that need attention:

1. Be ready when you come to expect that things will not work: internet is lousy, so if you are on business, this is not the place for you. The owner needs to pay up and get a good internet services, its just NOT acceptable that there is no internet. Nickel and diming on this will hurt business. Internet should be working in the rooms!
2. AC and hot water needs to be accessible all the time. It is not right that guests have to leave the room and try to track down staff to turn on buttons. This is plain silly.
3. Get phones connected to the reception! Ridiculous that guest have to wonder around for help.
4. Being stingy or soap and toilet paper is not good. Taking short cuts on these simple things can be very annoying.
5. More sat TV channels because there are only 4, and often not working. Owners need to pay up.
6. Food is overpriced for what one gets. And, it is not consistent. Breakfast is cheap and not fresh.

Owners really need to take stock of their cute gem and pay for things that are quality and stop looking for cheap short cuts.

The Palm Inn has become my favorite hotel in Port au Prince. Wonderful atmosphere, relaxing, intimate, not too crowded. The food is very good, the service is great. The rooms are nice, nothing special. Just a nice quiet soft place to land and relax. Wonderful clean pool. Price is right. Conveniently by the airport. I highly recommend this hotel for your overnight in Port au Prince.

We got a bit lost trying to find the hotel and as we drove around the neighborhood I'll admit that I was a bit turned off. It didn't look like much and seemed way overpriced for the location (I later found out that hotels in Port-au-Prince are pricey in general). But after entering the property (there's a security guard posted at the locked gate which did make us feel safe) we were greeted immediately by the hotel owners who offered us a cup of coffee before we had even checked in. They were unbelievably friendly & hospitable-- chatting with us and allowing us to take a tour of the hotel and see the rooms before showing us to the reception desk. The grounds were very nicely decorated, lots of antiques and beautiful patio furniture. There's a small pool in the center which was cleaned regularly. Everything was so tranquil and inviting, you forgot that the hustle and bustle of PAP was right outside the door. But it was dinner at the hotel restaurant that sealed the deal for me. Hands down the best food I had during my entire stay in Haiti! Everything was absolutely delicious. Buffet breakfast (included in the price) was steller too. Though there isn't much to do in that neighborhood, the 5 minute drive to the airport makes it super convenient and the staff really were some of the best I've seen at a hotel ANYWHERE. They also offer free use of the pool if you eat in their restaurant so it would be fun as a day-trip too. I'll definitely be staying here next time I'm in PAP.

When will prices come down to accommodate people like me doing missionary work with the students at UNDH/
Answer from Dick V

You may try to negotiate the price. Some ngo succeed to stay for US$ 100 per night. These hotels make a profit only through the ngo travelers... there is too much capacity now in Haiti/PaP. They invested seriously, while prices for construction were high, because of the general shortage after the earthquake. In fact the prices are quite reasonable, compared to other countries, similar hotel services. Students could also stay in B&B houses, they do not need airco and swimming pool...!?
