Enjoyed my solo stay at this resort. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you. I was able to relax on the beach with ease. Resturant- there are a variety of restuarants onsite. They were only open for dinner. One resturant was open all day for preferred guests only. The food was just ok. Each night my meal was served just above room temperature. Would have been nice for the food to come out hot! Service- great. Everyone was very helpful and eager to help. Room- was gorgeous. I was in room 1248. It had a view of the pool and ocean. Even though it was supposed to have a tropical view and not a pool view. Loved my room location. It was located towards the back of property which is by the main pool and beach. This was a perfect location. Only walked to the front of the property for breakfast and dinner. Ate lunch at the grill by the beach. Room was clean and very modern. Bed was comfy as well! Dreams Resort- you do have full access to this property as well. They are connected and you can easily walk between the two. Security- felt very safe while on the property. They do not allow you to be hassled by the vendors walking up and down the beach. It seemed like security was popping up our of know where to tell them to walk away. I must say, the beach vendors did not bother you all day and it wasn't that many of them. Activity- was lacking in this area. Not much going on. Maybe this is due to covid restrictions. Since my main goal was to relax by the beach, the lack of organized activities was just fine. Covid- all employees had on a mask. Guest were only ask to put on a mask in certain areas. I know for sure at the buffet. You can remove the mask when seated. The food was served to you. Staff was forever spraying and wiping in all areas of the property. Covid Testing- offered onsite. Very easy to sign up and obtain your results. No charge for test.

I am still at the Secrets Royal for another 8 days. Here is my review after 6 days here alone. On the positive side: - The staff is incredibly welcoming and super generous. There is so much staff that you will rarely wait long for service and they're all extremely attentive to your needs. I'm pretty sure their training emphasizes the fact that the client is the boss, because the amount of staff that have told me that I'm the boss is astonishing. - As mentioned previously the staff is amazing, but their are also very forthcoming and offer bonuses without them being requested (i.e. fresh fruit platter in my room while I was working, a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, above and beyond mini-fridge refill) - The contemporary look and feel of the hotel is very nice. I didn't want to be in a place overly "kitch" and was very happy by the overall aesthetics of the place. The room is very clean and modern. I felt at home (more on that later) and this felt like a 5 star resort. - The food options are quite enjoyable and the quality of the food is really refreshing. The breakfast buffet has nice options for every taste (I personally go for the fresh fruits and omelette every day), the lunch has 2 options, buffet or beach grill, to be honest the buffet is underwhelming for lunch but the beach grill over delivers. For dinner you have 5 options of restaurants and most of them have really good food (once you realize and accept the fact that you are not in Canada or the US). The staff is amazing and the service is beyond reproach (Sometimes though they are so quick on the wine refill that you are not sure if they really enjoy their job or if they want to see you drunk as a duck...) - Again, the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival, everyone said "welcome home" during my check-in which was very refreshing. No one is pushy (except maybe the entertainment staff, but I believe that is normal and to be expected) Now for the more constructive criticism. I would not necessarily say that these are negative aspects of my experience, but definitely things that could be improved by the management: - I had an amazing room on the first floor with a private pool and king sized bed. I found it strange though that when I wanted ice, I had to go up a floor. To my amazement, the ice machine on that floor was broken every day. So I had to go up to the 4th floor to get my ice. This is not a deal breaker, but definitely annoying when your goal is to relax and enjoy yourself. - The art in the room is made of plastic... again not a deal breaker, but not necessarily impressive either... - In the bathroom of my room, there is a scall, but unfortunately the batteries are dead and I cannot use it. Nice to have in a room, but would be best if it worked. - Specifically in my room, the shower and sink drain were loose... Basically they moved all over the place, again not a major problem, but still inconvenient. - Again, in the shower there is a rain function and a handle function, in my specific shower the handle function does not seem to work which is kind of annoying when you have soap on areas of your body that the rain shower doesn't necessarily reach properly. - This issue is a big one for me. As mentioned previously I had a private pool with a patio door, which is really nice. But once I would get outside, there was no handle to open the patio door to get back in... Which in itself is not a major problem, but I think should definitely be corrected in order for people to enjoy their private pool more. - Again in the room, the amount of outlets is limited but I can still work with it, but near my desk outlets there are 2 USB outlets, which are basically black holes... nothing can be connected to them as there is nothing on the other side. Again not a major problem, but a slight inconvenience. - Now this is not something that the hotel per say can control, but to be honest, the amount of seaweed in the sea is staggering... They even have seaweed nets to prevent them from reaching the shore and still you have to walk through 4-5ft of seaweed just to get into the water... I understand that this is not something the hotel can control, but I must say it is something I wish I knew beforehand. - Regarding my experience. I have booked a 2 week getaway during which they offered a complimentary "out of office package" which included better wifi, laundry service, spa, yoga and fitness access and upgraded room... This being said the wifi is amazing in my room as I was able to work and do meetings without any issue. The laundry service is another ball game as I had to inquire with the reception how to use it and they had no idea what I was talking about (24h later the finally had an answer that the laundry service was free for me), the yoga and fitness center are free for everyone, so not really a benefit to my 14 day trip.... The spa service, I don't really get any added benefit as I still need to pay full price to use it. But the coup de grace was the complimentary room upgrade which never happened, because (from what they told me) I already had the best room of my category, which is a king bed with a private pool. To be fair, I understand that this is the best option for my category, but then either give me the lower of the next category or give me a freebie, anything to be honest would have been better than "well you have the best room so we can't upgrade you... Finally, I must add that the service at the pools and beach really varies depending on which area you are in. If you are in the main pool (loud pool), service is quite fast, if you are at the beach or the quiet pool, then be ready to wait, there is no staff and service can take upwards of an hour. - Also, one last thing, I get that this is a resort and that you should bring everything with you because they will charge you a lot on the spot, but let's be fair, 52$USD for sunscreen is a ripoff... Anyway, to give my honest opinion, this is a great hotel/resort. If you are extremely analytical, as I am, you might not overlook the aforementioned things above. But the service is amazing and I would probably come back again! Edit: after posting my review online, I was contacted by the manager and was extremely well taken care of.

The check-in process was painless and since we were in the preferred club, we were treated to drinks and snacks in the preferred lounge while our bags were processed. The room (3474) was spacious and well-appointed with a big-screen TV, a big comfortable king-sized bed with way too many pillows, and a fully stocked minibar. However, there was a slight musty smell. The closet was ample as were the dresser drawers. The bacony had a jetted tub that overlooked a courtyard filled with lush foliage and palm trees and a partial ocean view. Our building was steps away from the lazy river and as close to the beach as was possible. Of course, being close to the beach means that you were the furthest away from the restaurants and entertainment. That was solved by calling for a pick-up to take you anywhere you wanted to go on the grounds. The entire facility was spotless with not a single blade of grass out of place. There was always an army of people working to maintain the grounds and they did a fabulous job. The entire staff was super friendly, always saying hello or making you laugh. They always asked if there was anything they can do for you. Juan Augustin was my main man and deserves a shout-out for knowing my name and reserving lounge chairs anywhere in his area. The resort did a yeoman's job trying to keep the seaweed from piling up on the beach. They were out there 24 hours a day cleaning the beach and trying to remove it from the water before it made it to the beach. There's not too much that can be done to stop it because mother nature is going to do what she's going to do. It's hit or miss. Security was always nearby so there was never a feeling that we should be afraid walking late at night. With the amount of alcohol that flowed morning till night at any one of a dozen or so bars, there was never any hint of a problem which I found refreshing. I fully expected to see a few people get out of control, but that wasn't the case. Not that I saw anyway. Here are the few things I felt were lacking; the food. Everything was basically the same in all the restaurants. And in all cases, if I asked for my beef tenderloin to be medium rare, it always came well done. I gave up ordering it after the 4th time. If you ordered eggs, you had to specify them to be well done, otherwise you needed a straw to eat (or drink) them. Lastly, the vendors were just non stop. If you were on the beach, they would come up to you at least every minute or two. Some were only allowed near the water, others were allowed up by the palapas. Cigars, t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, jewelry, beach bags. You name it, there was a vendor that was going to hit you up. Was even approached by 3 or 4 vendors to walk down the beach to their private bodega to buy weed and other drugs. I ran into one of them that actually worked in one of the restaurants that remembered me. I know people got to make a buck but the whole vendor experience kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. All in all we had a great time, were treated like royalty and I would go back again.

My stay at Secrets Royale Punta Cana was a surely fulfilling and truly rejuvenating. I enjoyed my stay on the property, which is obviously well maintained and disinfected thoroughly… The entire staff was truly accommodating and completely pleasant as a true reflection to the ambiance that is exhibited. I would like to mention that special personal touch that Chef Manuel exhibited. He truly exhibited the highest level of concern for our wellbeing and patiently made us feel right at home in his manner of answering any questions or concerns in regards to the property in addition to assisting us in restaurant reservations. Overall the service level is superb but special mention to Maria, server in the front lobby, Victor in the breakfast area and appreciated the energy provided by Gasolina and his obvious enjoyment of his job…. PS… It would be such a pleasure to hear the universally loved music genre of reggae. At the least generic Bob Marley music could be played which obviously add to the loving ambiance of Secrets Royale… From Beginning to the end I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Secrets and highly recommend this location, without any reservations!!!

Secrets Royal Beach was a wonderful experience! The staff, especially chef Manuel, Franscisco J & waiter Wilken, were fantastic! They were very friendly & we enjoyed getting to know them. Everyone was friendly & so kind, you can tell they all really love their jobs & making your experience great for you. The wide variety of food and drinks was delicious. Each restaurant had different food & a little something for everyone. There is a nightly entertainment show that was always fun to watch & kept the crowd involved. We upgraded to preferred club & had access to lazy river, a second pool & swim up bar and had our own private pool outside our room— which was amazing & a must do! The beach is easy to access & has a lot of seating & great views. We will be back!
