Having stayed at a few dfferent Riu hotels in the pasted, I thought it would be nice to take our grand children to the bambu for a week. What a disapointment for all of us, seven in total, three adaults and three teens,(thirteen, fifteen and eigtteen). This resort was a mess, from reception to the rooms to the servers in general. They advertise mini bars in each room, non existent. two beer put in the refrigerator once every two days, but only if the original two were not consumed. The buffet was basically the same day in day out. The food was overcooked, tasteless and the meats tough. The specalty resesturants were mostly self serve as well. and usually cold food. From day one , we had many problems, safe would not operate, refrigerator did not work, and aleast once per day the door card would not open our rooms. To make matters worse, we had to walk to reception to reactivate the door card(s) . Very disappointed with this hotel, not up to Riu or any other Punta Cana resort standards Won't return and sorry we had taken the kid's here. I could go on, ut I think you get yje picture, so beware.

The hotel is normal in appearance, not luxurious and the rooms are not the best. The exterior floor is very dangerous, since it is slippery and we suffered a fall that fortunately was not more serious than a few bruises, but it could be much worse. The hotel staff service is terrible, they act rude, throw food plates on the table, reluctantly answer questions. The children's pool was always dirty, they allow vendors on the beaches (even people selling photos with wild animals). The bar service is not good, the drinks have a lot of sugar. Food is not of good quality. They serve food that doesn't taste good. They have several restaurants but only 2 of them have menus, the rest are a buffet, which are not grounded in the concept of the restaurant. Waiters and staff in general do not use masks well. We had a problem with the transport that we hired since it arrived an hour and a half late and the hotel did not want to call the company, the only option they gave us was to pay a taxi that charged more than 40 dollars to the airport, and in addition to this they do not allow ubers or other transportation to the hotel. It is the first and last time I will stay at a RIU, bad experience.

Let me first start off by saying, I am not a person to complain or write reviews but this hotel is HORRIBLE! So I had to write one. I’ve been to several RIU hotels but this one , by far, is thee worst ! If you are not a native Spanish speaker or from the (USA) the staff will treat you like trash and is very unhelpful. The entire time, me and my friends have gotten ugly looks as if we did not belong ! When we checked in, the rooms were filthy! Stains on sheets, spiders in our bed, rooms smelled like mildew, phones doesn’t work and room is completely outdated ! I am seriously convinced that they are paying people to write good reviews. As a result of our rooms, we asked to upgrade. They showed us the room that we would be upgrading to, told us we could upgrade and that it would be ready at a certain time. When we approached the front desk, they literally said that room was unavailable due to technical issues. As we went back to our old room, we saw new people with their luggage, going into the room they told us that we initially could move in. The resort is very BORING ! Nothing to do outside of swimming and going to the beach, the food is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! And there’s no nearby stores that sells snacks. Upon checking in, we were not made aware of any activities the resort has to offer or even the time of breakfast/lunch/ dinner. Be prepared to do everything on your own after you check in ! I am done with the RIU chain after this! It doesn’t take much to please me but this experience was the worst ever! And i cannot wait to go back home ! Please save your money and go else where.

Arrived for a long overdue vacation. Resort was clean, staff extremely friendly if you tipped. Variety of food options with some above average for your standard buffet. Our family has traveled to many destinations were we didn’t speak our native language and we have always been able to communicate to have our needs meet. This has by far been our worst experience. Very few staff who spoke English and often walked away without trying to find someone to assist when they didn’t understand us. One person in our group has a shellfish allergy and was given multiple response in regards to cross contamination. By the time we were able to speak with someone who was qualified to answer the questions dinner was over. Thankfully they wrapped his food but there was no way to warm it up. Trying to pre-register for our COVID test was a nightmare- non of medical staff spoke English and became very upset with our group. By the time we were able to explained we needed to pre-registered two people in our group had already been test. Which wasn’t within the three day window so they had to be tested again. Thankfully- we were finally able to communicate using a translation app. Cons- no map of resort available, lack of sufficient staff to communicate with non Spanish speaking guests, lack of entertainment beyond 10pm, beach full of seaweed, water down drinks, no elevators, lost key $10.00, two full beds push together=king but they were locked together.

Dear MarylandFriend, Thank you for having chosen our Hotel Riu Bambu. We appreciate your positive point on the cleanliness of our property! We are, however, disappointed to know your recent experience was not a positive one due to the difficulties encountered, and surprised about the situations you describe, as our main priority is to make all our guests feel welcome and well cared for at our resort regardless of their language. We are sorry that you left our resort thinking otherwise. On the other hand, we are surprised by your words; we would like to assure you that we follow strict procedures while handling our products in order to prevent and avoid any kind of alimentary risks or hazards including cross-contamination. Rest assured we will take your comment into consideration, as the mentioned circumstances do not correspond to our quality standards. We hope you allow us the chance to share a more positive experience with you soon. Best wishes, Hotel Riu Bambu Online Reputation Manager
