The bahia offered great food, great facilities and entertainment in the evenings. The beach and pools were spacious and clean and the area is very peaceful. It was clear to us the service here could do with some improvement. The servers and hosts do come across quite rude but the longer we stayed the more we realised it was just a culture thing. When we arrived we got reeled into a sales pitch about timeshares that lasted up to 3 hours, please be aware that if you are told you will get a free spa treatment if you listen to the sales pitch, that infact it will take up half your day and you will be pressured into signing a deal with Bahia Principe. Apart from that, our stay was great and we were also able to have PCR tests done on site for our flight back.

We had an excellent stay at this adults only hotel. Everything was modern and clean, service was excellent, beach and pools well maintained. One area that we felt did not measure up to 5-star rating was the food in buffets. Not sure if this was a covid problem, or the norm. We have been to other Bahai Luxury resorts and had superb food at the buffet. We did not partake of the alacartes. Also the evening entertainment was sub-par and too loud. Saxophone player one evening was quite good. We usually retired to our room and enjoyed the quiet and evening views. Otherwise the resort was superb and we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet adult vacation.

I would definitely recommend. I have stayed in another section of this wide overall resort area but would most definitely only come back to this adults only section. My mother had recently passed away and I needed to get away. We had stayed at the mid level area previously together. I had a swim out pool, butler service, room service, mini bar. The resort was quiet. The nights were amazing with the lights and atmosphere. The food was good in all the restaurants. I was treated well upon entry to the lobby when checking in. I could always find a spot at the beach. I even found a Little Free Library next to the pool so left all the books I brought that were my mom's (with a note inside). Can't wait to go back!

I’ll start with the good parts.. -the beach: absolutely beautiful! Clear water, clean sand, easy to walk along to see other resorts -the pool: lots of space, servers walking around so you don’t have to wait in line for a drink, buffet right beside the pool for lunch Okay and now the bad…where do I start… -pool bar: the most fun activity at the pool is always to sit at the swim up bar. This wasn’t open. I understand that you’re not allowed to sit there because of COVID, but you should’ve still been able to order drinks. -the food overall: I was so disappointed with the food at this resort. Never have I been to a resort where the food AND service was better at the buffet than the a la cartes, but there’s a first for everything. The steakhouse was most definitely not a steakhouse. The food was bland and service was bad. The Italian was a step up, but the pasta was the same that you would order in the buffet. And the real kicker, we could only book those two a la cartes because everything else was booked up as the other resorts got first priority to those restaurants since they were on other resort properties. It was so difficult to get any food after the buffet closes at night. You can only go to the sports bar and it’s a pretty limited selection. We ordered room service one night and it didn’t show up. -the bar: we showed up and saw premium bottles of alcohol (corona, Heineken, bud), so we ordered one. They were $5 each at an all inclusive! Only draft presidente, not even bottles. No gingerale for a rye and ginger?? The drinks glasses are such tiny mugs, definitely bring a bubba or a insulated mug of some kind so you don’t have to keep going up -the entertainment: what a let down. No dance clubs, no pool sports during the day, no live bands (they do have a live singer before the nightly shows). The nightly shows are in the lobby, which is the worst spot. There’s not even seats and there’s so many pillars in the way that you can’t get a clear view. The sports bar had a stage in it, but no band or anything. We walked to another resort on the property and they had water polo and better music playing during the day, wish we had booked there. -overall service: the worst part. It was my dads birthday and I emailed the hotel on October 7th to see if they could help me plan something special. I didn’t hear back until a month later and all they said was they can help once I got there. When we got there, they said there was nothing they could do. I also asked to pay for an upgrade to the swim up rooms and they said they were overbooked. If you’re looking to do an excursion, would definitely recommend the jungle buggies! It was the best part of our trip!! Just make sure you bring snacks and water because they don’t have any of that there for purchase. Honestly, I know it’s COVID so everything isn’t 100% back to normal, but having better service would’ve made up for that. Also, for COVID testing, it was $82 USD to get it done. We waited an hour and a half to get it, which was such a waste. There was only one person checking people in and one person doing the test, while 3 people were just standing there. Eventually, they had another person checking us in and another testing, which was able to speed up the process. We got our results that night which was super quick. If you simply just love the beach and sitting by the pool and don’t care about anything else, then this vacation is for you. But if you’re looking for an amazing all inclusive resort, I would not recommend this place.

We just came back from the Bahia Principe Ambar Punta Cana. The hotel is extremely clean and our room was amazing ! This was our second time at this resort but the first in the Ambar adults only. Many things have been updated since our last stay We splurged for a swim up room and would highly recommend it to anyone. The staff were incredible. We had a few spa services all were amazing! COVID protocols Masks were required in all the common areas and there was hand sanitizer every where. Tables at restaurants were spaced out at safe distances except for Japanese Tapenaki see below for more details The process for our PCR test to return to Canada was easy and efficient. The Food We had fantastic dinners at Limbo and Meat. We had multiple meals at those restaurants because the other restaurants were fully booked. Not sure if that was related to reduced capacity from COVID. The staff at Meat took extra special care on my husband's birthday and even brought a birthday cake for second dessert! It was really appreciated! We had the breakfast a la carte once and found the service quite slow and the food at the buffet breakfast much better. We had a reservation for the Japanese Tapenaki and found it was the one place that they didn't have things at a safe distance. They has plastic shields between guests on the sides and a chair between other guests but in the front of the grill where there were 4 seats there was no extra space or plastic shields available. It was the only place on the resort we felt they could have done better with COVID protocols as a result we didn't want to stay for the experience. The staff did try and accommodate us by giving us a different table but we didn't stay as we went for the Tapenaki experience which was hard to get if you weren't in the room. On the plus side we discovered how amazing room service was! At check in my room bracelet got mixed up with another guest which ment our dinner reservations were combined and our name and room number were shared with that guest as well. Not the best from a privacy perspective. It took many days for it to be resolved We asked at the front desk the first day where we should sit on the beach for the adults only area and were told anywhere on the beach. They should have also said except for the roped off Privilege area. After sitting there for a couple of hours one morning we were asked to move. We noticed this happened to multiple guests over the week. Which is fair as those guests must pay extra. A suggestion to prevent this issue in the future would be if the posts for the huts were painted in the same colour of the arm bands for the different resorts at the beach for example gold posts for the privilege area, black for Ambar and so on. Then they could simply say look for posts with your arm band colour. The beach was clean and the crew clearing seaweed did an amazing job. Only a couple of days while we were there were the winds up and the water was filled seaweed (really thankful for the swim up room on those days) for most of our stay the water was clear. For the first time ever at the beach I recieved many bites. We are thinking from sand fleas. A few other guests we spoke to experienced the same. Overall another amazing stay at the Bahia Principe Ambar. I would recommend and stay there again.
