My wife and I recently spent 16 days at Now Onyx and from the moment we arrived we felt we were treated like royalty.

We had booked a Preferred Club ocean view room and had requested one on a top floor but realised this wasn’t guaranteed. After checking-in we were shown to our room by our butler, Nelson Sosa who was so courteous and helpful. My wife was a little disappointed with the room, so Nelson said he would try to arrange a room change to the top floor. The next day he contacted us to say he’d arranged it and we moved to a top floor room which had a marvellous view.
Unfortunately shortly after, the air conditioning stopped working so we arranged for maintenance to come and fix the problem, which they did, only for the AC to stop working again, so we informed Nelson and it was soon fixed permanently.

The room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed and a huge shower which didn’t vary in temperature if someone else was running water. We also received a ‘turn down’ service most evenings which included the mini bar being restocked.

The hotel resort is a large complex and therefore has a huge compliment of staff, who are all so friendly and helpful. They enjoy their work and engage with the guests to ensure satisfaction. A few of the staff who stood out were Marlene (maid), Antonio V (Carnival), Miguel & Nelis (PC pool), Reymond, Batista & Juan (PC Restaurant), Flor, Miriam & Janser (Prelude Bar), David (Tamarindo), Alfonso (PC beach bar).

There are plenty of restaurants, with the buffet restaurant (Carnival) having such a wide variety of choice of hot and cold dishes. The only issues we noticed were at breakfast, which does get very busy, where some dishes were allowed to go cold e.g. scrambled eggs and the bacon often ran out which took a while to replenish. We used the Preferred Club restaurant for breakfast quite a few times and found cooked breakfast was always hot. We visited all the à la carte restaurants too, with the French and Spice being our favourites. The Prelude Bar was a great place to relax with a drink after a meal - the service was good too!

The Hotel was kept very clean along with the beach - there was no sign of any significant amount of Sargassum seaweed. There were plenty of sunbeds and shades available on the beach and at the Preferred Club pool.

We had such a great holiday here, so much choice and the staff are truly amazing.
Thank you Now Onyx.

Stayed at Now Onyx with another couple and it has been the best experience I have ever had at an all-inclusive resort. The customer service was phenomenal and the preferred rooms were definitely worth the money for the extra service and restaurant. The entire resort was clean the whole time, from rooms, restaurants, public bathrooms to beaches, all of them were always clean. You never had to worry about getting towels like other resorts as clean towels were available by the pool every day. Food was great, lots of selection although we liked the Grill restaurant the best and ate there 3 times. Can’t wait to come back and stay again. Special shoutout to Albert, Miguel, and Jeyson by the pool. We also had exceptional service in all the restaurants but it was great each morning being remembered by Stephanie and Juan. Even the extra fee for a better bottle of wine was worth the experience as we had a fantastic sommelier present it, I know his name was not Usher but he looks just like him!

We just came back from Punta Cana and stayed for about a week at the New Onyx Punta Cana. Here is my feedback below:

1. We had 4 Adults and 4 Boys (Ages 8-5) in two rooms.
2. We did NOT book the preferred access as there were plenty of options to drink from and the service is still fabulous at the beach or pools.
3. Make sure to make reservations EVERY DAY as early as you can at any of the restaurants especially SPICE
4. For excursions, DO NOT pay full price ever. We paid $200 for the 2nd level for the Saona Island excusion for 4 people. Try to beat that!
5. See the sunrise at least once and get to the beach at least 30 minutes before the actual sunrise.
6. If you have kids, leave them in the Explorers Club and take a break. They take great care of the kids. We went over to the casino in Breathless while the kids enjoyed in the Explorers Club. They even give you a pager if you need they need to reach you in emergency.
7. Rooms are great even at the basic level (Junior Garden Terrace)
8. Put your towels on the beach chair by 7:30 am or you won't get the prime spots. However, there are lots of chairs on the beach.
9. Be careful on the language of coupons you are allowed to use on the resort. Most say you can only use ONE and NOT COMBINE.
10. Punta Cana is just incredible from a location perspective, take at least one tour of the countryside (e.g. Buggy Tour).

Enjoyed two weeks at Now Onyx. We loved our swim up room! It was in an ideal location, just far enough away from the main pool so it wasn't excessively noisy. We made good use of our patio to relax in the late afternoons. The beach was beautiful. It is walkable or runnable. Waves were fun, the water was warm with very minimal seaweed. We took kayaks out one day, which is included for no extra charge. there were others who made use of the catamarans and stand up paddle boards while we were there. There were always loungers to be found on the beach and minimal chair saving.
All staff throughout the resort were welcoming. The entertainment team had lots of energy and we participated in some of their activities which go on at the pool and beach areas all day.
We would consider returning here next year.

My husband and I just left this resort. We have been to many all inclusive resorts and this one really stands out.
The staff is very kind and helpful. We upgraded to the preferred club rooms. You get more first class amenities along with a butler. Our butlers name is Billy. He went above and beyond to make our Valentine’s Day extra special. You can request him before your stay. Your butler can arrange a golf cart ride over to Breathless for dining. Any room category can dine over there but needs to be 18 and older.

Juan in the preferred club restaurant is very kind and makes you feel very special.
Jason Did a great job bringing drinks on the beach.
The food is top notch!

The pools are spread out so you don’t feel smothered. We spent all our time at the beach as it’s so beautiful. We never needed to get up early to save chairs.
The beach is very long and wide. Beautiful powder sand.
The lazy river and water slides is fun for everyone. Must be 9 yr and older to use.

For adults only you can dine and swim at the neighboring resort, Breathless. This resort is more of a vibrant, jazzy feel with a casino and night club.
We definitely will be back.

Just spent 16 days at Now Onyx and enjoyed it immensely. Our butler Nelson couldn’t have been nicer or more efficient. I had requested a top floor room (not guaranteed I realise) and when we arrived we were on the second floor. As soon as I showed my disappointment Nelson said he would see if he could get us moved. True to his word we moved the next day to a top floor room with a fabulous view. Shortly after this the air conditioning stopped cooling and after a few failed attempts calling maintenance ourselves, Nelson got involved and it was soon sorted. The accommodation was very spacious and the shower was huge. The bed was so comfortable.

On to the resort itself, we found nearly all staff very friendly and polite. We did see a few tips handed over but the thing I like about AI is not having to carry any money around. So we didn’t give tips (until the end) and didn’t experience any worse service because of it.
The choice of food in the buffet restaurant was mind blowing, quality varies with what you choose but was generally good. Salads were fantastic - for choice and quality. Only one major gripe is that some hot dishes were allowed to go cold, particularly scrambled eggs at breakfast. Again at breakfast, bacon often ran out and took ages to be replenished. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but the mini desserts were like little works of art! We tried all the a la carte restaurants and enjoyed all, Spice was our favourite. Service in the Prelude bar was good, strength of drinks slightly inconsistent, one you couldn’t taste and then the next one would blow your socks off. Only criticism here is flat mixers, they need to replace the gas canister in the gun more often.

The hotel wasn’t full but there appeared to be plenty of sun beds and shades around the pools and on the beach. We saw beach sellers every day but none were intrusive, a ‘no thank you’ was accepted with no problem. Everywhere on the resort was kept clean and in good order. We saw gardeners most days trimming and tidying.
We booked a preferred club room and felt it was worth it, the adult-only pool was lovely and in the pc breakfast restaurant the eggs were fresh and HOT! We didn’t always use this but it was nice to have the choice.
The Spa was quite pricey but with all the treatments you get use of the steam room, sauna, therapy pool, hot tub etc. My aromatherapy massage was lovely.

In summary, a great holiday with lots of choice and lovely staff many of whom seemed to be having as much fun as us.

We just returned from five wonderful nights at this resort with four kids, ages 20, 18, 17, and 13. We ate the breakfast buffet every morning, which was delicious and had just about anything you could think of. We all ate at the beach grill for lunch every day, so I can't comment on the lunch buffet. As far as the individual restaurants go, we ate at Spice twice, Bluewater Grill twice, and Capers once. We enjoyed Spice and Bluewater so much the first time that we retuned to both of those. The skirt steak at Bluewater Grill was to die for. With six different people, we had zero complaints about the food.
We read about taking damprid, and we did, but never saw any moisture at all. We always left the ceiling fan on, which probably helped.
The waterpark was awesome, and the 13 year old loved it and never wanted to leave. They could use more tubes for the lazy river, but that wasn't that big of a deal. Be warned though, the water is cool!
The staff was all amazing, especially Jomiset, David, and Jendry at the waterpark; Jenzi and Jhony Bravo on the E-Team, and Abrahan at the pool.
The ice cream shop and coffee shop were both great, and were used quite a bit by all of us during the stay. Try the double fudge mocha frappe!
Having access to Breathless is a bonus, and we took in the nightlife there a few nights. The party at Now Onyx stops at 11:30 each night, but you can easily walk over or take a golf cart to Breathless where the club stays open to 3am.
The beach is beautiful, no seaweed at all, and the kids enjoyed playing in the waves.
The wifi is spotty, but you are on vacation, right?!?
We did tip, but were never made to feel like someone was expecting a tip at all.

My only warning is about the parrot and monkey guys on the beach. They approach you with these animals, put them on your shoulder or in your hand, even take pictures for you with your phone, and don't say a word other than to encourage you to hold their animals. When all is said and done, they then try to fleece you by demanding up to $40 per person for the photos that THEY took on YOUR phone. If you don't pay right away, they have another guy stand by and stare at you to try to intimidate you in to paying.

We stayed at Now Onyx with a group of 9 people ranging in age from 5 years old to 70’s over the New Years week. We had some hiccups (mentioned below), but overall we had a pleasant time. The grounds and pools are beautiful and well kept, and the beach is lovely. Very little seaweed on the beach or in the ocean during our stay, and the waves were super fun for jumping. The food was mediocre, but that was expected. We avoided the buffet for dinners and went to the restaurants, which helped provide somewhat better food and variety. A couple of our group had stomach issues, despite sticking to the bottled water. The room was nice; we were in the older section of the hotel. Issues were as follows:
- multiple days our room was not cleaned, despite having the sign on the door asking for it to be cleaned. We called housekeeping and they came up.
- when we arrived we had to request multiple times for a rollaway to be delivered to two of our rooms and the couch bed to be made up. That finally happened after 9 pm, which was tough given we had some younger kids with us who were exhausted from travel.
- it is LOUD at night if you are in the older, main section of the hotel, as most of the entertainment occurs in the plaza area off the lobby. We had to use white noise on our devices to try and drown out the sound of the bass, which some nights went past midnight.

But all in all we had a good time and experience at Now Onyx. Will we return? Doubtful, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the resort, especially with kids and a multigenerational group trip.

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at Now Onyx and could not have picked a better place to do it. We had a wonderful time! Our room was comfortable, quiet, and overlooked a beautiful beach and a pristine pool both of which were immaculately kept and offered many amenities such as fresh towels, an open bar, and beach side food and drink service. There were many dining options with a variety of restaurants to choose from, so finding something different every night was never a problem. The French restaurant was my favorite, it had wonderful food in an elegant but comfortable environment. One final thing that set this resort apart from others we have visited was the hospitality. A young man by the name of Nelson was our personal butler and saw to it that we had everything we needed or could possibly want. He even surprised us with a delightful anniversary celebration which included an escort to and a reserved table at the restaurant of our choice. Afterwords we returned to our room to find a cake,a bottle of Champagne and decorations made from red roses all of which made for a delightful evening. I plan on returning to The Now Onyx and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Caribbean vacation!

We stayed at this resort Dec 26 2019-Jan 2 2020. We are a family of 4 (including 2 boys aged 17 and 14). We booked the premium tropical view connecting rooms and were located in the new family section near the water park. The rooms were spacious, clean (new) and well maintained. Our view wasn't the greatest but we didn't spend much time in the rooms anyway so no big deal.

The food was good. Our favorite was Bluewater Grill (phenomenal steaks) and least favorite was Capers (Italian) as we felt the food was a little bland. We did not eat at the French restaurant but everything else (including room service) was good.

The ocean is beautiful, beach well maintained (no seagrass) with fun activities for all (beach volleyball, color foam party, soccer, etc). The pools were also fantastic. The new water park has a variety of slides and a cool lazy river. Our favorite hang out spot was the main pool. Abraham was our pool waiter who provided us drinks throughout the week. He was friendly, quick and came to know our favorites - getting us refills before we needed them! He was definitely our favorite staff member all week!!

There was always music or fun activities to participate in or watch. The entertainment team worked hard and did a great job. We appreciated Jensy's eagerness to engage the boys in the activities making it easier for them to meet some new friends.

Overall it was a great vacation and wonderful way to ring in 2020.

Being close to the waterpark is a great location. The waterpark has a bar which is easy to access. It also is where the taco truck is parked and right across from all of the restaurants and buffet. Great location! Chairs are set up all around the waterpark, with the lazy river surrounding the bar and slides. The people who use the chairs are mainly inside the lazy river and pool/bar area so it wasn't noisy due to people screaming or anything like that. There will be music playing, but I never felt like it was ever too loud and really could only hear it once I was in the middle which was the pool area. The lazy river kind of gives a relaxing buffer to the outside area.
