Pros: Since the hotel is part of a group of hotels we were able to visit other restaurants, pools, buffets. The staff is friendly and helpful. In general the grounds were clean and well kept. They had trolleys to transport guest around since it was far to walk between the other hotels and Cofresi. Cons: We found coackroaches in our room. We had another guest harassing us and the security staff did nothing about it. The buffet at the Cofresi hotel had the same food all the time and it was not delicious only ok. Sometimes we waited more than 20 minutes for a trolley to pick us up.

I am a good amateur tennis player (4.0). I had the chance to take tennis lessons with the tennis instructors Lilo and Adam. They are both great to hit with and will improve your game. Lilo quickly identified problems with my serve which was corrected during my trip. After two weeks not only was my game better but I was in better shape...and I had a lot of fun. If you are good tennis player and are looking to take your game up a level, book lessons from Lilo and make sure to hit with Adam as well. Best two weeks of tennis I have had in years.

Hi there! I am writing to you to tell you about our terrible experience we had at Cofresi Palm Beach in Peurto Plata Dominican. We first got there on January 23rd at 1130 am with a group of 15 people for a wedding and when we got to the hotel they said our rooms weren’t ready until 3pm, which is fine, so we waited until 3 and they said they still weren’t ready so we continued waiting until around 6pm when we finally got our room. My husband and I walked into the room ( which they placed us nowhere near the rest of the group) and I fell on the floor immediately when walking into the bathroom and hit my leg on the toilet. I am 7 months pregnant and there was water streaming out of the light fixture in the bathroom and the ceiling was falling in. The room was filthy and there was mold all in the bathroom. We asked to be moved rooms and told them I had fallen, and they sent the maintence to wipe the ceiling and floor with a towel and refused to move us rooms. We fought to be moved and finally after hours of being at the front desk we were moved to another room ( again nowhere near anyone else in our group). In this room we had no hot water at all & no air conditioning, the room was 28 degrees and I was struggling to sleep, breath in the room due to the humidity. We again asked to be changed rooms and each time this was a huge fight between the front desk, managers and my husband and I. We then, along with our entire group we were with, asked to be upgraded after 2 days now of continuously asking to upgrade and them telling us they have no rooms available to upgrade. We got the air Transat guy involved which he was amazing, and he was able to get us moved but we had to pay $400 Canadian to upgrade. We paid the money and were given junior suite rooms. We were only in the room for almost 2 days when we woke up at 6am to loud gurgling and the smell of feces. We get up and noticed that our entire shower was filled with septic water and it was overflowing into our floor, covering everything on the floor ( clothes etc) in human feces. We left the room at 6am with our luggage and were not leaving the resort until 7pm that night. We carried our luggage up to the front and sat in the lobby where we complained our rooms were covered in septic. They did not apologize but instead gave everyone sheets to sign saying we are not to write a bad review about them or talk badly about the resort or anything that had happened to us on the trip at all. I clearly did not sign this as people need to know about this resort. They put us in a new room ( only because we were taking up all the seating in the lobby) and they placed us BACK into the room with the water pouring out of the ceiling light and told us that it had been “ fixed” when it clearly had not been. The staff were not friendly at all and beach, there was no beach. We were not able to swim in the ocean our entire trip, or get an a la cart the entire trip because you can only go Sunday mornings and we arrived Tuesday. None of the staff were helpful or caring at all, I told them I was going to be writing a bad review and they said that’s fine and ignored my concerns. Not one person asked me if I was ok that worked there since I had fallen on the floor. Two days after I returned from the Dominican I ended up in emergency having extremely ill like symptoms and overall unwell. I am devastated as we took time off work and paid for $2400 for this vacation that was a nightmare. The resort had so many flights of stairs and smelt like septic the whole time. Please if you’re going to travel don’t go here my trip was AWFUL!!!

We spent 4 weeks at this place and we would not recommend the "Resort" to anyone who likes a clean inviting beach. We tried to enter the waters only once and luckily did not get sick because there were several streams of dirty smelly water flowing into the Sea. If you like a quiet environment and clean air this place will not be your best choice. Many rooms have a passage door to the next room which is so thin that you might hear/smell everything on the other side; however, should you get rowdy neighbors the security staff react very quickly. We would only consider visiting the place again for the mostly friendly staff.

To Start, we did not go VIP. The Good: The Buffet, Bar, Housekeeping and Groundskeeping staff are wonderful. Always pleasant, cheerful and smiling! 7 a la carte restaurants + 2 buffets 8 bars (+2 on show nights & 1 at Presidential Suites) 12 Swimming Pools Lots of activities available for both on and off the water Large Resort with a shuttle to get around Nightly entertainment at the lobby bar (differs by day, but repeats weekly) Entertainment at the theatre is available as well. The Bad: The front desk staff treat you like you are inconvenience Rooms are dated and in need of upgrades. Fibreglass tub had a huge crack in it. Beds are very hard. Some rooms reported cockroaches, others had difficulties with closing and locking balconies, Louvred windows in the bathroom were often broken or missing (wouldn't close properly to allow for privacy) Water in the rooms was inconsistent. Some people stated they had hot water, but no pressure, others stated no hot water, but lots of pressure. Often had to wait 20 - 30 minutes with the water running just to get hot water for a shower. Greeted with a welcome gift of pop, beer and snacks. If you did not consume these within your first 2 - 3 days, they were taken away by housekeeping. Only got 2 bottles of water a day unless you asked (and tipped) for more. Frequent power outages, particularly when it rained. When the power came back on, the AC had froze up and didn't work properly, coffee maker turned on in the middle of the night, then was off (with cold coffee) by morning. Beach area is very small and the number of Palapas and beach chairs are limited. If you do not reserve early (whether at the beach or the pool) you could not get one. Some of these would be empty for most of the day as they were "reserved" but no one came (except for maybe an hour or so in the mid-afternoon). Pools are cleaned daily in the morning, but by mid-afternoon they are filled with bird droppings, dead bugs, leaves, etc. No swim up bars. Seating is in place for this, but they will not serve you. You must get out of the pool for service. Resort is Noisy. The 2 beach side pools often have activities going that you can hear from the beach. People will also play their music on their balconies throughout the day, even if people with small children, the elderly or the sick want to rest. Called the front desk, security came, but as the perpetrators spoke the language, nothing happened. Also, the sounds of delivery vehicles, resort shuttles, motorcycles and golf carts on the roadways/ paths can be heard at all hours. Then there's the gas/exhaust fumes. VIP guests assume they are better than others and have no respect for people walking, people waiting for service or occupying tables/ seats. They seem to think they are entitled to everything the resort has over everyone else. The resort was built on a hillside so it has A LOT of stairs. This is not conducive for people with mobility issues or small children. Shopping at the resort is a ripoff. Stores are overpriced. While they will barter, even the bartered price is often more expensive than what you can buy it for at Jumbo or Sirena in Puerto Plata. Better off taking a taxi into town and making your purchases. Entertainment at the lobby bar was was often very loud, hard to hold a conversation in the evening. Theatre filled up fast. If you did not arrive early for the shows, you had no where to sit. Upon our arrival, after requesting at the time of booking, emailing the resort directly (with booking number through travel agency) and confirming at the front desk, we were not provided with the room that we had requested (lower floor, King bed). The front desk assured us at check in that this was what our room was, but it was not. They were able to fix it the following day, but this still set much of the tone for the stay.

I went this past week and it was a wonderful time. The food was good and there were options to where you could eat. The nights were filled with entertainment and the pools were great during the day. It rained the first few days I was there but I wasn’t bored in my room I found I was still able to enjoy myself. The bathrooms for sure need updated but I had hot water the whole week so can’t complain really. The frost bar was close to my room and is where my group hung out the most. Wilfredo was the best bartender our group met on the resort ! His vibes were unmatched, he always made sure our drinks were full without us even realizing they were getting low. He has a great attitude and is a very hard worker. He made my stay 100% better. Keep up the amazing work to all the employees. The food was great, the room services were great also, if we needed water bottles late at night or a blanket we were taken care of right away. I hope we can return again it was such a wonderful experience 🏝️🌊✈️🐚
