Just getting to Cocoa Cottages was an adventure, as it was our first day of driving the crazy Dominica roads, and the road we were pretty sure we needed to take to get there, was blocked off with a wooden barricade. It turns out, there had been a mudslide the day before and a good portion of the road was...

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hotel which although on the road felt like being in the middle of the rainforest. Breakfast and dinner are taken at the large round tables in the outdoor kitchen/dining room and we were joined by the owner Iris on our first night and Barani ( hope that's correct spelling) who cooked our meal on...

This small group of rooms located around a communal eating area is surrounded by fabulous vegetation and very noisy frogs! The windows are all open ( no glass or mosquito nets) so you certainly feel as if you are living in the middle of the rain forest. The welcome is warm and friendly and the food is good. The home...

we didn't stay at the cottages but were there for a short visit after a canyoning trip with Xtreme Dominica. It was a unique experience to sample the fresh cocoa as hot chocolate and visit after an exhilarating experience in the Canyon. We hope to return and stay at the cottages. The hospitality was warm and welcoming and the conversation...

Wide, comfortable beds in wood floored rooms set within lush, tropical forest. We sat on our little balcony surrounded by a cacophony of tree frogs, rain hammering on the roof and scent of fruits and spice trees.

My husband and I recently traveled to Cocoa Cottages and absolutely fell in love with the place. It is cozy and unique and the location in the rainforest makes for a wonderful soundtrack to your vacation. Unfortunately, there are many stray dogs in the area that barked incessantly for hours a few of the nights we were there and kept...

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our holiday in stunning Dominica. We had breakfast each day and dinner on 2 nights out of the 4. The food was tasty, especially the coconut and ginger preserve at breakfast. Others have mentioned the cost of the meals here, but all food is expensive in Dominica. Iris was lovely and...

We traveled to Dominica in Dec-Jan with friends. The six of us stayed in the Treehouse at Cocoa Cottages for three nights. I have to say that this was the best place I've ever stayed, for multiple reasons. The cottages are all tucked away within one of Dominica's many mountainsides. From our treehouse, we could not see or hear a...

My friend and I stayed in Cocoa Cottages during the World Creole Festival in late October. We overestimated the availability of accommodations - I had checked out Cocoa earlier but got around to booking too late that there is no availability for our last night. We booked it anyway because of how unique the guest house looked. When we arrived,...

We stayed at Cocoa Cottages as part of a trip to Dominica and we really loved every moment. Our accommodation was a beautifully quirky tree house with a secluded veranda surrounded by the rainforest; it's was a truly unique & unforgetable place to spend three days of our honeymoon. Iris is a wonderfully warm host, helpful and caring in every...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Cocoa Cottage--Dominica Mind Body Adventure. Cocoa Cottage is an artistic guest house located in the heart of the Roseau Valley, only a few miles from town but worlds apart. This valley is home to many waterfalls, sulfur pools, rivers, and various trails, all within minutes' drive of the cottage. Cocoa Cottage is imaginative, earthy, rustic and whimsical, a fine gentle touch with rough edges. It is a perfect union of all that nature offers. Our kitchen provides food for the soul, using the plentiful offerings of our island. At any time you'll find yourself deep in lively conversation with someone you just met, connecting, sharing, inspiring and being inspired. We adopt eco- friendly daily practices as a way of connecting with ourselves, with one another, and with the world around us. ... more   less
