We decided to extend our stay and we needed somewhere else to stay as our current hotel did not have rooms available. The staff was very polite and the rooms where ok considering the low price and we did not spend much time in them. Great location.

It would seem that no work has been done for a while on sprucing up this property. However the staff are extremely accommodating and attentive to ones needs. Special mention can be made of Philbert who pilots the boat on the whale watching trips. He can also repair many other things at the hotel. Susan the room attendant is also...

This is a family run business and they truly make you feel right at home. We had an "awful" experience reserved at the Hummingbird Inn hotel in Roseau. The hotel was undergoing renovations and never bothered to inform us. Upon arrival, it was not acceptable to my liking. It was suggested to us to stay at the Anchorage Hotel &...

There are no big chain hotels on Dominica. Everything is relaxed. Stayed at the Anchorage 3/13. I'd describe it as rustic but adequate. Excellent friendly staff. Plain rooms, just a bar of soap in the spacious bathroom, but very reasonably priced. Got a room for three days and a free two tank scuba dive for $242 total. Ask for room...

I booked to take a whale watching trip. When I arrived the trip had been cancelled. I wasted time and taxi fare getting to/from the hotel. There was no explanation why the trip had been cancelled. No apology. They had not bothered to contact me to notify me of the cancellation, despite having both my email and mobile contacts.

This hotel on first appearances blends in with the other tired properties along this stretch of road at Castle Comfort a mile and half south of Roseau town where we had arrived from Martinique on the Express des Iles ferry. We quickly picked up a taxi and in 10 minutes where at the hotel. Once past the entrance it opened...

We did not stay at the Anchorage, so this review is based only on our whale watching experience. Captain Philbert gave us a review of the species of whales that we might encounter, including dolphins. He explained their anatomy, physiology, diet, migration habits, etc. He explained that there is an 80-90 % chance of sighting but that the morning excursion...

This was a diving and hiking vacation. The hotel amenities aren't special, but Dominica isn't known for its plush hotels. The bed was very comfortable, with good sheets and pillows, and a well-functioning A/C. Nice balcony, with the right kind of surf to hide any traffic noise. Location isn't awesome (a little too far to walk into town), but if...

What I learned from this experience is to double check everything when in Dominica. :-) We attempted to book our whale watching through the Calibishie Lodges but were told we needed to book a few days ahead in order to get a reservation... we were too late for the trip we wanted. However, I emailed the Anchorage myself and was...
