It became operational in December 2014 and is intended to be one of the best accommodation throughout Havana. The house is beautifully decorated with antique furniture from the colonial era. Splendid environment not only reserved for common areas. It has comfortable and spacious rooms with private bathroom, with excellent taste in decor.

Doralis and her team are very welcoming, helpful and professional. I was there for a long weekend and my stay there was great: the property is conveniently located right on Malecón, within walking distance of Old Havana/Central Havana/Morro and main areas of the city. Easily accessible to get to. Perks: amazing ocean views (waking up to the ocean breeze is priceless), very generous breakfast and wifi connection. It is an old building but the property is well kept for Havana standards, room is clean and tidy. Staff is very flexible and helpful (no matter what time of the day you come in, they are there for you). They go beyond their way to make you feel at home. It def. made my Havana experience better!

The Casa Malecon is a gem. In a beautiful art deco building that I would guess was built in the 20's, the spacious aprtment, which o cupies an entire floor, is a model of old world elegance. The view of the sea, and the city shoreline is spectacular, as are the sunsets. The apartment boasts several balconies, two of them as welcome additions to the "deluxe" rooms.

As for the Proprietress, Doralys, with her calm professionalism, and the courteous and accomodating staff, they make one's stay warm, comfrotable and easy. I have no doubt that I will stay there again on my next visit to Havana for its International Jazz Festival in January/February.

Nice location on the water. Nice view of the habor and fort. Could hear the cannon go off each night at 9 am. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Would stay here again. Rooms were good size and a/c worked.

I spent a week here and while the staff were very friendly and helpful, the noise from the Malecon made it very difficult to sleep. I even use earplugs and they didn't block out the trucks passing by. I had hot water but several of my colleagues did not. Breakfast is the same thing every day (fruit, bread, ham, eggs) and is ok. My colleagues got stuck in the elevator for 10 minutes one day. The wifi costs 5 CUC per day. The wifi cards we purchased did not work here. Not all rooms have a tv or refrigerator. The location is great.

Response from cubacanc, Propietario at Casa Malecon Colonial
Responded 18 May 2020
The malecon is a bit noisy but the view it gives is to forgive everything. Cuba is an embargoed country where unfortunately there are no spare parts and no food that you are lucky enough to have. It is difficult for us to live without even finding toilet paper. Despite this we always try to give maximum hospitality to all those who come to visit our beautiful country and we always say that you must see our kindness. Thanks for visiting us )

Looks are deceiving and as you enter the main door you may feel nervous about what you are getting yourself into. It seems that there are a few casas in this building- floor three and six are lovely- friendly hosts with a bit of English - very clean rooms with a breakfast room balcony over the Malecon which is a great spot. Around a 20 min walk to old town. There are also casas in the same building but around the front - it's a maze but we enjoyed our stay and I would go back there.

We stayed on the sixth floor during our visit. Like the previous reviewer suggested, don't get scared away by the condition of the general area and building. Once you are inside the casa it's like a completely different world! The decor is in nice colonial style (just like in the picture) with cute paintings hanging on the walls. They have lots of nice tea cups and saucers so we made some tea after returning from a long day walking around Havana. It was wonderfully relaxing to have it on the balcony while watching the cars and people go by underneath along the Malecon. The breakfast was served on the big dinning table, again with nice matching china and cutleries. Rooms are clean and big. They helpfully tidy up your room everyday and change fresh towel too. The bathrooms are the biggest and best we saw during our trip in Cuba (we only stayed in private casa so cannot compare to five star resorts). And did I mention you get wifi access here (which is very rare in Cuba)? Overall, highly recommended.

I stayed at Casa Malecon Colonial in June 2019.

Situated at the Havana waterfront Malecon, the casa is located on the 6th floor in an old and beautiful apartment building.
When I entered the apartment I was swept away by the authentic interior and beautiful classic furniture.

The rooms are comfortable with nice bathrooms, air condition and even a walk-in closet! Furthermore the rooms all have a stunning view of both the ocean and old Havana. From the balcony you can clearly see the Castillo in the distance.
The hostess was super friendly, smiling and accommodating. She was kind enough to prepare me a delicious breakfast, even though I missed breakfast time, all with fried eggs, bread, coffee and fresh fruit included. Gorgeous!

The hotel is conveniently located about 15 mins walk from Parque Central, the main square of old Havana. Furthermore, Havana is very safe, even at night time, locals just sit and relax out on the streets and I never saw any trouble or felt unsafe at any time, seems like this is the Cuban mentality.
If you want a truly authentic experience when staying in Havana, with the friendliest service in town, it won’t get much better than this.

I would definitely stay here again when I return to Cuba. Recommended.

We booked 3 nights here through cubabookingroom.com at a price of 40 CUC per night. Our room was overlooking the Centro Habana area (it's 5 CUC extra for a sea view) and we stayed on the 6th floor.

Like some of the reviews have mentioned the entrance is unassuming and crumbling in a Havana-like way. Don't let this & the rickety elevator put you off! The casa is secure and has a number of rooms and social areas situated off a cool corridor which runs from the street to the sea view/malecon side of the building.

The staff were friendly, breakfast was tasty & can be eaten in the front room looking out to sea and the malecon. The room was also very good - spotlessly clean, modern, quiet air-con & decent shower with hot water. We also loved the view from our balcony over the city, equally as impressive as the view of the malecon from the front! We found it took 15-20mins to walk into the old town, we enjoyed the walk & it was a great way to explore Centro Habana which most people don't see!

All in all we had a fantastic stay here and returned at the end of our trip to Cuba as well, both times the casa helped organise a taxi to/from the airport.

My room was large, clean and had a view of the Malecon from the side windows. I asked for a quiet room and despite the nearness to the Malecon, it was quiet except for Saturday night. My bathroom was large and my hot water was constant unlike some traveling companions at other casas particulares. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to keep supplied with cold bottled water (for which I paid for at the end of my stay) without the inconvenience of constantly hunting it down on the street. The breakfasts were ample with excellent Cuban cafe con leche or hot water for tea, huge platters of fresh fruit, bread, eggs and fresh juice. The area in central Havana does appear run down as the exteriors of the buildings, as in much of Old Havana, have not been kept up, but the interior of the 3rd and 6th floors are remodeled, clean and modern. The views rival those of the Hotel Habana Riviera at a fraction of the cost.
