After checking out nearly a dozen different casa particulares, we came across this one. We needed a room to sleep 3, and we were given a great little apartment that we shared with another group of 3. The apartment had a common room, kitchen, and balcony. It was very clean and welcoming. Breakfast in the morning was included.

Despite my many e-mails requesting to be in the Hostal peregrino consulado, when we arrived upstairs (with all our luggage and our baby daughter asleep in my arms) we were told that our accommodation was in one of the apartments nearby. I got really upset and when I spoke to the owner over the phone, I was told this was... More

Since it was necessary to book accommodation before arriving to Cuba in order to get a visa but the majority of casas are difficult to access through the internet, booking a room here was a great help. We were redirected to a casa and had breakfast at Peregrino. We stayed at two different casas at the beginning and end of... More

My partner and I just got back from traveling around Cuba and our first 3 nights were in Havana - 2 at the hostal peregrino which we had prebooked and then when we asked to stay an extra night they helpfully moved us to an associate casa as they were full. They also helped us book a casa and transport... More

The room we had was too small for two people with luggage travelling - we were not backpacking, we were on our honeymoon having got married in Cuba. Little natural daylight in our room with loud air conditioning unit and poor lighting. I can't remember who owned the property but we never met them in person. Their staff seemed to... More

Very cosy casa at a perfect location, you feel immediately at home. Room was nice with a small balcony. Bathroom was good too, even with a hair dryer! Large breakfast was included. There is only 1 point of critique: they do not help you with the best price for taxis. We paid 30 cuc to get from the airport (normally... More

My parents and I spent 2 nights at Hostal Peregrino El Encinar (the one in Old Havana) in a triple room in September and absolutely loved it. The driver who picked us up from the airport (arranged by Julio and Elsa) was lovely and delivered us straight to the door where Jose the caretaker met us. While Julio and Elsa... More

Thank you to Elsa and Julio for looking after us during our short stay in Cuba. Our only regret was not allowing more time to explore Cuba. Julio was very helpful and thankfully his English was much better than my Spanish! Julio arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport and then arranged for an enjoyable tour... More

We spent 4 nights at their sister establishment in Old Havana, excellent air conditioned room -- with a terrace a few floors up -- and v full breakfasts. The night before leaving Cuba we spent at the main Hostal in Centro, where hostess Elsa had kindly kept large suitcases while we travelled round Cuba.Again a fine room with fridge, en... More

We think the guide book writers were totally deceived on this place. We arrived to a tenement with the smell of butane and mold. We should have heeded the warning when our guides looked at us in shock and said "why are you staying in that area???" Maybe this place is fine for poor college kids who will endure anything... Dear Jim K: Thanks for your comment. We are very sorry knowing that the help you offered didn´t satisfice your expectative. The short notice and height make the request harder. As any help, you were free to take it or not. Surprisingly, you remained in the house during all your staying. Actually, one day longer that the original plan, saying... More
