Ambos Mundos is a classic of pre-Revolution Cuba. Throughout the entire hotel there are memories and tributes to Hemingway; literally, a museum. A birdcage elevator awaits to take guests up - complete with bellhop - but coming down is another complication. My husband ended up racing down the stairs in order to tell the bellhop we'd like him to take...

Spent a few nights here at the end of a birding trip to the interior. The lobby area is large. This is good since it is often a madhouse of tour groups arriving, departing etc. It has a very good location in the pedestrian area. Breakfast buffet was abundant but of average , at best, quality. Hemingway's room is on...

Arrived at this hotel on NYE after a long day and a flight. Had only one lift that could carry 4 people and their bags, so took some time to get us to our rooms. Situation not helped by literally swarms of people trying to get to the roof top terrace for a drink, who were mostly non resident. Room...

Conveniently located in Havana central, this was an elegant old hotel. The elevator was a work of 1920’s art, but unfortunately it broke several times. If this happens to you, there is another elevator behind the scenes for staff. They are happy to let you use this if climbing many flights of stairs is a challenge. Our room was in...

We did not stay here but stumbled upon the rooftop terrace. It offers a buzzy vibe with great cocktails and a stunning panorama of Havana. There is also literary history with the Hemingway connection - not to be missed!

We went to the downstairs bar numerous times to do the internet check - each time we would order beers and cortados, quickly delivered by the courteous staff. Sofas are plush and spacious. I remember the same spot was excellent during high summer as they had a couple of powerful fans blasting air through the lobby.

I stayed here for one night on the first day of a group tour with G Adventures. I arrived at around 11.30am for the group rendezvous, but I was informed that Check In wasn't possible until 4pm. They allowed me to keep my bags in a locked and secure place in the hotel until that time, so I utilised those...

The hotel is right in the center of historic Havana. Perfect to start a tour through the old parts of the city. Unfortunately, our room was extremely small, dark and smelly. The sheets had (blood) stains and the bathroom (e.g. glasses, tiles) could be cleaner. The restaurant and bar on the roof top are a great plus. One has a...

This is a review if the restaurant only, didn't stay at the hotel. The rooftop is perfect for a lunch overlooking the interesting views of cupolas, streets, and the walls have great art. Live music, very good food ( had salad, pasta with smoked salmon and pasta pomodoro e basílico, all delicious ), great monitors and daiquiri "especial" served in...

Cuba is a time machine to the 1960's. So are the beds, sheets and amenities but at 400 percent price increase thatnks to the Goevernment jacking the prices up in ALL hotels for Americans. Ambros is normally 80 bucks is now $250 a night. Yes US dollars for a 1 star.
