I had a really good stay at Coco Reef. Its an affordable hotel, and unlike many others, it sits right on a beautiful beach where you can watch the sun rise each day.

Note that I visited in May 2021, and due to the pandemic and staff shortages, all the restaurants were closed in the hotel, so it was not possible to get any food or drink. However, they hotel staff supplied we with an app from which I could order (Sargasso Sea) until my covid test came back negative and I was able to venture out onto the island.

The rooms are basic, but clean. There is a fridge to store any food you bring with you, and they come round and clean the room each day.

Beachfront rooms are not much more expensive than regular ones, and it was magical to wake up to the sunrise on the horizon, and go to bed with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach below.

The walks along the beach are wonderful, and the water is a great temperature (refreshing but not cold) and the most beautiful crystal clear blue.

If you are keen to have both a pool and a beautiful beach on site at a good price point, I would recommend this hotel.

The staff are wonderful, and the location is great (approximately in the middle of the island) so both the west and east side of the island are accessible.

There is a nice little restaurant 7 mins walk called Paraquet that does both pick up and delivery, and you can walk to Hamilton in under an hour.

We loved our stay at Coco Reef Resort, although it is more of a hotel than a resort. The ocean view was fantastic and instantly relaxing. We walked on the beach every day. Located in central Bermuda, it was a 5 minute trip to Hamilton and 20-25 minutes to either end of the island (by scooter). There is a restaurant, a supermarket, and a bus stop within a 5-10 minute walk so you are not dependent on taxis, or rentals to explore the island.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms comfortable. Restaurant meals were first rate and were as good or better than any other restaurant that we visited. There were very few guests during our stay so it was quiet and we had no issues with the WIFI.

The downside is that the hotel could stand an update. There was also a US$43 per day resort fee that wasn't mentioned anywhere on their website. Oops!

Overall, Coco Reef is an excellent place to stay while visiting Bermuda and is a great place to relax and forget your troubles.

We loved our week at Coco Reef! If you love the beach this is the resort for you. We had a renovated “oceanfront” room and we had an amazing view of the ocean from our patio. The king bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The maid came every single day and we never saw her she was so stealthy! You can walk to a market at the bottom of the hill for snacks and drinks to keep in the room since there is a mini fridge. We also walked to coffee at Lattes one day-25 mins each way but the “croffles” were yummy!

The beach is clean and there were always plenty of umbrellas available. The pool was undergoing maintenance our first 2 days but we only sat at the beach anyway. The sand is SO soft and the water is perfect. You can walk for about a half a mile West along the beach until the rocks/cliff cut you off.

We ate at the restaurant 5 out of 6 mornings and while it’s not cheap the food is good and the view is unbeatable. The service was always top notch. (The Lido Cafe next door is excellent for dinner but a bit pricey. Book a table on Open table yo be safe.)

A waiter will bring you drinks on the beach and they’re good too. He was always circulating from about 10-5. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The public beaches are crowded and no more beautiful for swimming and lounging. This is a great resort for beach lovers. It might be less than ideal for younger kids and mobility challenged folks as it’s a steep walk down to the lower buildings and beach.

The front desk folks were always very helpful with taxis and suggestions. Hamilton is a 10 minute cab ride and St. George’s is 30 mins. Beware on Wednesday nights it can be hard to get a cab because of Harbour Nights. We are at Tom Moore’s Tavern which was very good too.

We had booked here for the holiday as have stayed before and was close to where we were going to be going over that period. Received a phone call at about 12:45 enquiring when we were thinking of checking in and told them and was asked if could make it before then as he had to leave at 4pm. Nothing registered at this time as being too strange. Arrive before the allotted time and on arrival I notice there is a sign on the door that the restaurant and bar is closed. I ask about this and the guy behind the desk was very nice but could not advise me where I was going to get any breakfast etc the following day being a holiday and most places were closed. Carried on checking in and had what could have been a nice room down overlooking the beach but it was freezing so tried turning the heating on but it just got colder.Phone in the room was missing half of its buttons so you couldn't contact the Front Desk. When my husband arrived back to the room with some of out luggage he knew I was not happy so we made alternative arrangements. When he got to the Front Desk the young was very good and immediately offered us a full refund and by the time I got up there to return my key the place was locked up tight. I think someone should have advised us that the facilities were totally shut down. We had called there about another matter and still waiting for the GM to return call. Basically all you were getting was a very cold room and nowhere else to go.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Coco Reef & Resort at the end of August. Before arriving, I had read some mixed reviews. Now I understand why some guests were disappointed. For us, the overall experience was a good one. I’d go back, but I would hesitate to recommend it highly.

The beach is beautiful. Coco Reef benefits from the much larger hotel next door (the old Elbow Beach Hotel) being closed. You have a large stretch of beach to relax, swim, and walk along.

The staff was wonderful—hard-working, kind, and helpful. Our room was one of the nicely redecorated ones with a beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable. The AC was very loud but worked in my favor, as it drowned out my husband’s snoring.

Some negative aspects we experienced include a huge leak from the overhead AC upon entering. The front desk sent someone to repair it right away and eventually comped us dinner for the inconvenience. However, messages were not relayed to the main manager, and the dinner was reflected on our bill at checkout. This was cleared up within a few minutes but was an example of communication errors.

Since the beach is the best aspect of the hotel, they could improve the guest experience there. Every single day, they ran out of towels, and it was inconvenient to have to go all the way to the lobby to fetch them. They lock the towels in a back office, and you have to wait until the front desk is available to help you. An easy fix would be to order more towels and place them in guest rooms or near the entryway to the beach or pool. As a beachfront hotel, this is a basic standard you must meet, or you will frustrate guests. Additionally, there was no staff presence on the beach—no one offering water, cleaning up bird droppings on lounge chairs, or replacing knocked-over umbrellas.

The hotel is not for someone looking for nightlife. We were told by the bartender that the bar closes at 10 p.m. On our last night, we wanted a nightcap after returning from dinner. It was 9:45 p.m., and the same bartender told us it was shut down, which was annoying as we really wanted to sit on the terrace and enjoy one last drink on our vacation.

The hotel could also upgrade its dining/food services. The atmosphere lacks liveliness. Guests would benefit from an area that sells sodas and snacks for the beach. I’d suggest packing lots of snacks or going to the supermarket, which is about ten minutes away. They provide two small water bottles for free on first day only. There is a mini fridge which was useful.

A minor note: our bathroom provided shampoo but no conditioner, and the plastic containers were unlabeled and cumbersome.

Coco Reef has many positive features and I hope they improve some issues to make it an outstanding spot to stay in Bermuda.

We stayed here 35 years ago for our honeymoon when it was the Stonington and returned to celebrate our anniversary. A nostalgic visit to be sure. Yes, the property is a bit dated, but the staff worked to make our stay a lovely one. Shaunty at the front desk was particularly helpful, and Bruce made great cocktails. Dinner at Cafe Coco was delicious and they remembered our anniversary with a surprise dessert. The beach is one of the best in Bermuda. And the restaurant next door at Elbow Beach kept us well fed and entertained with live music. The location is great for exploring the rest of the island via scooter.

I had an absolutely wonderful time at Coco Reed right after Hurricane Ernesto hit the island last week. Honestly, you wouldn’t have even known that hurricane had just hit the island directly. The staff was lovely and the highlight of staying here is that the beach felt like there was nobody else on it the whole time. This may be due to the fact that elbow Beach next-door is currently closed so there are fewer people than normal that would be on Elbow Beach.

When I had questions about using the bus, the receptionist helped me immensely and my recommendation is for you to buy a three day bus pass. It is the best and most affordable way to see the island but if you’re coming back from dinner late, make sure that you carry cash to pay your cab driver.

There is a supermarket that is a 15 minute walk from the resort and I went and stocked up on a few goodies while I was there. A forewarning, be prepared for sticker shock. I bought a bag of chips, 2L of soda, two apples and a bottle of rum and it was $58.

The beach was absolutely spotless and my room was comfortable, lovely and spacious. I couldn’t of asked for a better five days in paradise! One of the advantages to staying at Coco reef is that it is a small resort so you feel that the resort is empty even when it is completely full.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking to be on a beautiful beach have relatively easy access into Hamilton and be close to many options and sites that are on the island.

We booked our stay at the Coco Reef for July 24th to July 30th. Let me start with the positives. The View. That's it. The rooms are extremely outdated. It appeared that the furniture in our room was original from 1980 when the resort was built. Dresser draws were permanently stuck and could not be open. Trash from the night before was still littered around the pool each morning. The food menu was limited and extremely pricey. Mildew was in our shower not to mention on the outside of our room. Most of the staff was friendly, except for one woman who worked the front desk. The stairs leading to the beach were rotted through and were eventually closed for pedestrian foot traffic during our stay. It appears the owner of this resort has decided to stop maintaining the property and doesn't care. We checked out early and completed our vacation at The Loren at Pink Beach. The Coco Reef is certainly not worth the price they charge.

This hotel was just amazing. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They were always willing to assist with arranging taxis and gave me some great tips on where to go! Yeah the rooms are a little outdated, but who sits in their room all day when they're in beautiful Bermuda! This hotel is right on the beach which I loved. There were always lounge chairs available and it was so peaceful. I loved seeing the cat everyday! My only complaint is that I wish there were more towels available. It was kind of hard to get them. I can't wait to return once the pandemic is over.

Terrible 5 item mediocre breakfast - sometimes some items from the day before are missing, you are better off going to the supermarket that’s a 10 minute walk away. Horrible shower, no pressure whatsoever. There was a leak the first night of our stay, that caused the paint to droop. We were told to suffice to the morning, we were moved to a room with a far worse view. We moved all our suitcases by ourselves and prior to being given the keys we had to repeatedly ask for whether we’d be moved from the leaky paint droopy room. The renovations will not save this hotel.

The only good thing about coco reef are the clean sheets - that you have to ask for - and the friendly breakfast staff.

Many nights we went to the bar and no bartender was there. The simplest requests could not be met.

There are no easily accessible towels, the front desk does not pick up.

There are no amenities. Much nicer places exist. Do not come here.

No, but you can go to the Lido at Elbow Beach. There is a public park on Elbow Beach. You can walk along Elbow Beach, but not use the other hotel's facilities (other than the Lido Restaurants at Elbow Beach). I should add there is a small on Elbow Beach which is part of this hotel where you can sit.
