I'm a repeat guest--4 times over! As an experienced traveler who enjoys all levels of ammenities, I come back for the personal attention (cell phones are often available), location, variety of room layouts, safety, price and the cool guests who end up here! If you're looking for a 5-Star experience, make another choice. Flexible, self-sufficient, no drama, easy-going people who like clean, warm, "at home"-type amenities, Bermuda style, will surely join me as a repeat guest!

The accommodation could use a lot of improvement - we did not like our room at all because it was sweltering and felt "icky." Many things did not work properly, for example, the tv and ac. The room itself felt cluttered with all these old and mismatched furnitures. Bathroom was fine but the bedsheets just did not feel clean at all. So unless they update it, will not stay here again.

Positives: The location was great with swizzle inn, gas station, and a bus stop within walking distance. The price was also reasonable given we booked it very late. The lady who owned the property was available and involved. The bathroom was well-maintained and clean.

I wasn't looking for a big hotel and hotel prices as I don't spend much time in my room while traveling. Blue Horizon Guest House was the best solution I could find (later learned that most of the "Guest Houses" are located, like Blue Horizon in Warwick Parish). Place looks very appealing and owner is very nice. Blue Horizon is conveniently located near a gas station that has a good selection of food, snacks and other items -- also very convenient for buses.

On an aside, bus system in Bermuda definitely needs improvement. I was told that Bermuda bought 40 buses from Germany some time ago and now they are breaking down and have no one who can repair them. The island is expecting 4 new buses to arrive in the next couple of weeks. That won't solve the problem of over-crowded buses, buses frequently running late and overworked bus drivers who are tired and not very pleasant to deal with (the majority are very nice). The ferries are great.

My room at Blue Horizon was on the side, allowing limited wifi -- often had to go sit out front to get adequate wifi signal. Bermuda itself is in desperate need of more free wifi hotspots throughout the island, as the lack of it is a negative. The room had a window a/c which I only used at night for sleeping. The windows in the small kitchen and very small bathroom (it was difficult to use the tub/shower as the bottom structure was rather high and there were two steps leading up to the top and then you had to step down into the floor of the shower -- as I've two knee replacements, this was quite awkward for me and no picture of the bathroom was shown in pictures of the Guest House. Additionally, the kitchen windows had screens, but not windows you could close, so there was a kind of door that you pulled across the entrance. The bathroom had a hard door you could shut, but both the kitchen and bathroom solutions were not the best. There was little room to move around the bed. This set-up works for one person, but would be miserable for two or more. This room is definitely not for handicapped people or those with disabilities. The owner (Brenda, whose father built the house and the one behind it) does a great job of making things look nice, but it's all still somewhat of a work in process.

Brenda is very helpful with questions on the island and arranged for my shuttle to come to the back of the Guest House so I didn't have to drag my luggage down the front stairs.

What I liked best? easy access to the owner and her flexibility in meeting my needs (i.e. no hair dryer in room, so I borrowed one she had); also convenience to bus stops.

What i liked least? -- the lack of consistent wifi and the arrangement of the room -- I cannot envision more than one person staying in the room

the blue horizons guest house, is a place to stay away from, no facilities, no breakfast served, shared toilets & bathroom, not a pleasant place to stay, pay a bit more for your accomadation, or else you will end up like me - thoughly dissapointed, luckily only had to stay there 1night.

Roaches were all over the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen..they were all over. When we spoke to brenda she said just keep the screen shut...for what to keep then inside. I was there 3 days and housekeeping only came once. They was a dead hugh bermudian roach on the floor when i arrived and housekeeping never sweep it up. The pool was closed, the room had no phone and the inn keeper could not be found when i arrivee to check in even though I had a reservation. if you don't mind the roach the poor customer serive and want somplace cheap maybe this is for you...but I won't be going back! Way too many roaches for me

It was a terrible experience. The brochure boasts a pool and diner, yet the pool was empty and the diner was closed. The Blue Horizons has the potential to be nice but I would say it needs at least 6 months of vigerous renovations. The shower gave a maximum of 3 minutes of hot water, (I timed it) and the owner was not receptive to my issue. Please do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money for a respectable stay. Feel free to email me for more information.

This is a lovely quaint place. Totally perfect for budget travellers, families, and friends traveling in a large group. I visited with 4 other friends and we were about to rent the entire spacious three bedroom apartment with large kitchen. The rooms were cozy, clean, and each had their own bathroom. The front porch has ample seating for sunbathing and drinking. The newest Swizzle Inn is a two minute walk, and it is a must-see in Bermuda.
This is the best choice for a central location with generous hospitality on a budget. It was clean, quiet, and walking distance to the bus, gas station, private immaculate beach, and Swizzle restaurant/bar. Also it is a twenty minute walk to the beautiful Elbow Beach. Cab ride to Hamilton is around $15 or airport about $35
The diner and pool are both closed for renovation. Apparently there are many large hotel chains coming in across the street so it will be more of a "hot spot" in a couple of years. You do need to be prepared to possibly used the Raid provided.. but you are in a tropical island, so that is to be expected.
Just like the previous reviewer said, it feels like your staying at your grandmothers loving home. We had no problem getting ample hot water. We would all recommend this. Brenda is a simply wonderful host.

Don't believe the bad reviews. This is an older place but the rooms are charming and clean and Brenda the owner lives onsite and takes pride in the property. She went above and beyond to take such good care of me and my father that I won't stay anywhere else in Bermuda. There are bars and restaurants within 5 minute walking distance and the beach is right across the street. There's a bus stop right in front too. Great price, great location and great service! Thank you Brenda. You're a gem!!

This is a decent place if your looking to save money. It was clean, quiet, and walking distance to the bus, gas station, and Swizzle rest. Also it is a very short walk to a beautiful, quiet, peaceful beach. Not a party beach!
The diner and pool are both closed as they "fix" them and It feels like your staying at your grandmothers house. This is not a hotel type place at all. The beds in the two front rooms seem much better then the beds in the room in the back with the kitchen and Hot water is in short supply.

Cab ride to Hamilton is around $15 for 4 people. Cab ride to Horseshoe beach is about $12 for 4 people. Bus is the best way to go if you don't want to rent scooters. Buy the pass at the airport if your staying a few days. Scooter rental can be tricky and seem to range from $16 a day to $50 a day - we did not rent scooters...looked to dangerous for us. If you go to Horeshoe spend the $1 that takes you to the top of the hill (when you leave the beach) best $1 I have ever spent.

The clubs don't hop until well after 11pm and bring dress clothes, because the clubs have dresscodes. If your going to go out, pick a night that a cruiseship is in port - when they leave Hamilton seemed to get pretty quiet.

Bucci rest at the Fairmont South Hampton is excellent food and at a great price.

Happy hour at the Fairmont Princess (different then the Fairmont Southhampton) is the place to be on Friday evening before the clubs get hopping.

My sister stayed at the Fairmont Southhampton and LOVED it - if you can spend the $500 a night - stay there.

For our last trip to the Blue Horizon Guest house, Brenda went above and beyond to make our 10 days the best they could be.
Always busy, she had time to spend with us, I feel like she's a sister at this point. The apartment was always kept clean, rooms, beds, linens always spotless. Brenda is a hard working and most caring individual I have had the pleasure of visiting frequently. Already planning for the next one..... Miss you Brenda, hope all is well ❤️
