Perfect location being half way on the island.
Very clean apparent and the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.
Kitchen facilities are great.
2 double beds.
Lovely little bathroom.
As we went out of season the weather was sunny yet very windy with rain showers so we didn’t utilise the pool.
It is on the main road of the island and traffic is passing at all hours, though it is bearable .
Very good bus route with a bus stop Outside. Pink stop goes towards Hamilton. Blue away from Hamilton. If you use the buses buy the multi pass from the tourist place in Hamilton.
Locals are so very friendly and helpful. We have never found such a friendly island in all our travels.

Would 20000% recommend Bermuda the sandpiper.

We had an excellent stay at the Sandpiper from July 19 2005 to July 23 2005.

The facility is clean and safe. We stayed in the Robin's Nest (Number 3) away from the road noise.

Kwanda (sp.?) and the staff at Sandpiper are as friendly as can be and they can help you with anything you need.

Our room was about 1000 sq ft, had a seperate bedroom, full kitchen, and two futons in the living area. The facility itself had a swimming pool and laundry facilities.

The Sandpiper is in a great location. The bus stop is only 20 yards away, a mini mart is only 50 yards away, and the entrace to an excellent and secluded public beach is only 80 yards away. THe mini mart has everything from milk to bacon to chips (but no beer!). Elbow Beach in only minutes to the east and Horseshoe Bay is only minutes to the west by bus.

Highly recommended for familes, longer stays, and those looking to stay eat in and avoid the high cost of eating out in Bermuda. Be sure to ask for a room not facing the road and you will have an excellent stay.

We spent the last three days of our vacation at Elbow Beach and we would have been just as happy (and saved money) at The Sandpiper.

I stayed at the Sandpiper for 4 nights in mid-March, 2005. The complex is a cluster of apartments built during the 1970's and is located in Warwick Parish on Bermuda's South Shore Road. The apartments come in various configurations. Mine was a standard unit located on the second floor in the rear. My unit (The Cardinal) was configured with a separate kitchen/eating area, separate bedroom with 2 double beds, cable TV, and sleeper sofa, and a separate bathroom with a tub/shower. The price was great at $89/night (plus taxes), so I won't complain there. My general complaint is that the complex at least 2 miles from the South Shore beaches and about 1.5 miles from the supermarket - though it is situated directly on the #7 bus line which stops about 100 yards from the complex. My reason for renting an apartment with kitchen facilities was to cut down on food costs. For those who have not been before, Bermuda is very expensive in all things - a 16oz bag of Dole iceberg salad costs about $4.75. Eating out every night can quickly increase the size of your national debt, and delivered pizza can cost you $35. Definitely sticker shock for the uninitiated. The Sandpiper's distance from the supermarket proved to be inconvenient as I was relying on the bus for transportation (note - unless you are using a bus pass, a one way trip on the bus to the supermarket costs $4.50). Specific complaints dealt with the condition of the furniture (the laminate was peeling), the kitchen cabinets (worn and tired), and the refrigerator (exterior rust). Road noise was also a problem on occaision. House keeping service was good, however, and I thought I received value for the money - but only at the price I paid. I would not consider the Sandpiper to be good value at the normal high season rate of $140/night. So, bottom line - would use again at the price I got, but would shop for other alternatives before booking. I could also recommend the Sandpiper to those travelers who rent scooters for island transport as that would increase your mobility and mitigate some of the drawbacks about location.

You could not ask for any better accommodations for a family vacation in Bermuda! Everything you would need to make your stay a home away from home is provided. Moria is a warm, friendly and efficient manager of the property who makes your welcome to the island memorable. The pool and grounds are well maintained and maid service is detailed and thorough every other day. If you have a family, apt #2 on the ground level is ideal, directly around the corner from the pool and gas grill which we used a few times. The Rubis gas station across the street has a good hot food buffet and to my surprise, sushi and other vegan options. if your driver is willing, ask to stop at Lundo’s or Marketplace en route from the airport. I would suggest packing paper/plastic plates, cups and utensils as they are expensive items to purchase. There is ample outdoor seating to enjoy your meals around the pool. There are no pool toys so bring inflatable rings and balls for the children. Bus stop is right outside for easy access to town (Hamilton) or Dockyard for a fun filled day.

If I could give the Sandpiper a 10-star rating, I would! The exterior of the property is both beautiful and impeccably clean. We loved the grassy area where we often gathered with friends. The pool is sparkling and refreshing. The rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious, and the kitchen was incredibly useful. The staff is both helpful and friendly. Although our room was located on the roadside, we couldn't hear any noise. The location is also very convenient, centrally situated to both sides of the island. I highly recommend purchasing a bus pass, as the bus stops are very close to the hotel. Many thanks to my friend Janet for discovering this gem of a place to stay!

This property has exceeded our expectations. It was close proximity to Hamilton, Horsehoe Bay, restaurants and convenience store. The staff was very professional, friendly, informative and attentive. Special thanks to Moya at the front desk who helped to make our vacation memorable. Will be definitely staying at the Sandpiper again! 😊We can’t wait to return and are planning our next years summer vacation.

My family and I stayed at the Sandpiper in Bermuda from August 5th through the 10th 2005. This is our sixth trip to Bermuda and have stayed in everything from Elbow Beach to other guest apartments. Out of all the places that we have stayed the Sandpiper is our favorite for a number of different reasons. It is clean, it is roomy, you have your own kitchen, the location (15 minutes by scooter to Hamilton) (5 minutes from the best beaches on the South Shore), and the PRICE. If you are going on a honeymoon or like fancy hotels with all the glitz, stay at Elbow Beach or the Southhamton Princess. If you are like me and enjoy living like the locals do try the Sandpiper. If you are planing on going to Bermuda email me, I have some superb restaurants to recommend or anything else that I can help with.

We stayed at the Sandpiper in late July 04 for several days. It is located in the parish of Warwick, a 15 minute drive from the airport.

The only con was its location in proximity to restaurants and stores. This is particularly a concern in Bermdua, because there are no car rentals, and, unless you are accustomed to driving on the left side of the road, I cannot recommend a scooter for one's safety. Taxis are readily available along the main road, which is two blocks from the hotel, but it will quickly dent the budget. There is one restaurant within walking distance to the Sandpiper and that's it. There is a gas station/convenience store several blocks away. The main supermarket is 5 minutes away by bus. Because of the lack of restaurants, you will be confined to the one mentioned, or delivery pizza ($26-$30 per pie). All of the reasonably priced eateries are in Hamilton, 15 minutes away by bus. There is a deli-style eatery right across from the cruise ship terminal on Front Street which I recommend.

The bus system and its pass (we got the 3 day pass for $28-buy it right at the airport) is ideal and is a must to get around. It also covers the vast ferry network, and the system runs very efficiently. Please note that you cannot use the bus at the airport with luggage-plan in advance for taxi service to your destination. The only con about the buses is that they shut down early on Sundays-some by 5 PM. Plan accordingly to avoid costly taxi fares if you get stranded at one end of the island going back to your lodging. The roads are extremely narrow, and many stretches have no sidewalks at all-careful when getting on and off the buses.

Bermuda is by far one of the most expensive places I've ever been to, but don't let it stop you from going. The island is very nice, the people reserved but hospitable, and is very organized for tourism.

Sandpiper was the least expensive of the accommodations when I booked. It has a nice small pool. The room was basically a 1 bedroom accommodation, was very comfortable, was well maintained on a daily basis, & had a kitchen a living room, & a balcony. Consider buying provisions at the main supermarket and cooking in, as eating out will dent the budget. The area was safe, with no people seen loitering after-hours.

The closest beach was Surf Side, basically several hundred yards from the Sandpiper and was a so-so beach-with some areas very rocky. A better bet is to head 5 minutes west by bus to the Horseshoe Bay Beach, which is lovely, semi-crowded, & has facilities.

The bottom line is that Sandpiper was a great place to stay for the price, and its location gives one solace and tranquility, while still within easy reach of Hamilton by bus. I would clearly stay there again. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Was a guest at the Sandpiper and woke up on after the 3rd night of our stay to find the door ajar and our cash missing. The management did not seem the least bit surprised or concerned. Instead they struggled for ways to shift blame instead of being geniunely concerned for the security of their guests and facility. Neither the owner or manager expressed any sympathy or regret about what happened. The police told us that the property had many problems and one officer said she wanted to recommend they put it under investigation. The Sandpiper is convenient and relatively inexpensive, but it is really not worth risking being ripped off and then blown off. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY (unless of course you want to be robbed and then treated like crap by the so called "caretakers").

Okay so it's a little dated but the staff are excellent, no strict check out time was imposed when we asked which literally gave us an extra day's holiday. The apartments are situated on the bus route between Dockyard and Hamilton via the beaches. They are clean and comfortable with large fridge freezer, cooker, toaster and coffee maker to make self catering a real possibility, a necessity when a basic bar meal for a family costs around $100. We barbecued and enjoyed the pool which was virtually unused most of the time. The washing and drying facility costs $5 and takes a large load, we've paid that at hotels for one item of laundry. It was good to be able to live in the fashion of the local people. If you do like to cook take a serviceable knife or two and perhaps some herbs and spices which will save you money. We'd stay here again next time we go to Bermuda which we intend to do soon.

Bus is very efficient! The sandpiper is on the south shore. There is a Rubis kitty corner that sells everything. There is the modern market not to far from there. It's a grocery store. The sandpiper is not far from the bus stop I believe there is one every 15 to 20 minutes. We rent scooters so we don't use the bus. Cabs are great as well.
