Great place to stay. Classy, very well appointed. Old school style with plank wood floors and overhead ceiling fans (plus air conditioning) in rooms. Lush tropical vegetation. Very close to downtown Hamilton but on a quiet street.
Breakfast was very good. It was just what I was looking for.

Kingston House is a quiet and peaceful B&B, less than a 10-minute walk from downtown Hamilton. Marlie is a gracious host and super helpful at giving tips for seeing the island. Breakfast time is flexible and made to order--and always delicious! The common areas are easily opened to outdoors with lots of fresh air. She provides basics like shampoo, bath gel, and conditioner so no need to bring your own. Coffee fixings are available always for those early risers like me. Stayed in the Captain's Quarters room, which is very large and has a couple of nice sitting areas. Wifi is available and speedy. If I were to return to Bermuda, I would definitely stay here again!

My partner and I had a great stay at Kingston House B&B! We stayed in the Birds of Paradise room on the second floor and had a lovely balcony. The host, Marlie, is very friendly, helpful and an amazing chef. The breakfast options are awesome and were something to look forward to every day. The accommodations are very comfortable and well kept. Fresh towels (for bath, beach and pool) are available and our bed was made daily.
I do want to caution that while the location is gorgeous and close to Front Street in Hamilton, it is still about a 15-20 minute walk to most restaurants and businesses. We did not plan to rent a car or scooter and some days when we were very active during the day and tired by the end of it, it was a struggle to get back out for dinner lol.
The buses on the island are great but the Hamilton bus terminal is about a 20 minute walk and that's the cheapest way to get to the beach from here. All of this is moot if you plan to rent your transport, but just something to keep in mind. We did use the hitch app for taxis a few times but expenses really add up in Bermuda.
All that being said, the value here is great compared to the cost of accommodation ok the island, especially with amenities like the breakfast and pool, and a nice home with a great host.

Thank you for your very kind review! Walking and driving in Bermuda can be challenging, mostly because of the lack of sidewalks, with roads being edged by ancient stone walls, us driving on the left, mixed traffic with a variety of gas and electric vehicle types, dog-walkers, joggers, bicycles, etc. Not much we can do about it. One day, government will complete the sidewalk but for now only about half of the 5 minute walk to the Princess Hotel has a proper sidewalk. Locals are used to it but we understand why visitors might not be. If it helps, cabs line up at the Hamilton Princess and it takes about a minute to get to the middle of town by taxi or by rental vehicle. I really appreciate you highlighting the positive aspects as well as your concerns about getting around so prospective guests are made aware. All good. Many thanks, Marlie

Tucked into a quiet lane is this cozy B&B within walking distance to town where you can eat, dine, shop or catch a bus to anywhere on the island. Plated breakfasts of your choice prepared by culinary-trained owner are best I’ve had at a B&B. Owner Marlee helps to make your experience pleasant and relaxing. As a solo female traveler felt very safe there. Would definitely return.

I tend to think that pleasant, relaxing and safe and important to travellers, especially on a visit to an unfamiliar island destination. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a good location. Bermuda has so much natural beauty with first world amenities where the people are genuinely welcoming and friendly. Thank you for your very kind review. It was lovely to meet you and we'll look forward to seeing you next time! Cheers, Marlie

We have visited Bermuda from Canada 6 times since 2005. Apart from the first time we have always stayed at Kingston House. Perfect location down a narrow lane, safe, quiet and peaceful, but also a short walk into town close to restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, ferries and buses. Love the buses which make it easy getting to attractions and the beautiful pink beaches. Riding them is an adventure!
The house is traditional, warm and welcoming with comfortable bedrooms, areas to sit and relax, and a kitchen to make snacks and store food. Tea and coffee are always available. Outside a patio with an endless pool surrounded by a lush garden and sitting area not forgetting the sweet and gentle addition of Una the rescue dog.
Marlie is a caring host with a lovely personality. She makes very satisfying and delicious cooked breakfasts, eaten at the large table while chatting with the other guests. Great coffee and a great start to the day.
Marlie is very knowledgeable about the island and can recommend many interesting things to see and do.
Bermuda is a beautiful island and Kingston House the perfect base to begin its exploration.
Hope to visit again soon!

This B&B had a homely and tropical vibe, the Birds of Paradise room was at par with its name. Marlie was a gracious, friendly host who gave great insight on the hidden gems to find on the island, along with a hearty breakfast each morning. Will be returning!

My wife and I visited Bermuda with our small family in June to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We rented the entire Kingston House for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were perfect for us and Marlie was a wonderful, gracious hostess. There are three large rooms upstairs and two more on the ground floor adjacent to a guest kitchen that comes in handy for preparing snacks and for enjoying Marlie’s breakfasts each morning. It also has a comfortable living room for relaxing, or just hanging out. If you haven’t visited Bermuda, we highly recommend it, and you should definitely consider the Kingston House as your home away from home.

Marlie, as our host for 7 nights, was an outstanding resource for things to do and info about the island. Very warm hospitality, spotlessly clean rooms and lots of amenities made available - beach towels & mats, sunscreen, bus / ferry passes left by former guests, maps, 24/7 tea & coffee, lovely indoor and outdoor common areas, Una the dog, games, books, ... Breakfasts were excellent and readily accommodated gf needs. Short walk to Front Street, restaurants, shopping, ferries, etc. Many repeat guests.

We stayed at Kingston House, while we were in the process of finding something more permanent. We were intending to stay for 2 weeks, and ended up staying much longer because it was so ideal.
We couldn’t of wished for a more perfect place to stay!
The room was large and spacious, and was immaculate. The host, Marley provided a laundry service, and clean once a week which was great.
The Bnb has a large communal kitchen and multiple outdoor areas to relax.
Marley and her family are ever so friendly and provided us with local knowledge which helped us settle in to Bermuda.
All in all a great place to be!

Nestled in a tropically neighborhood, Kingston House is the quintessential B&B. Reflecting its British Colonial roots, the home welcomes visitors with comfy couches, family photos, a rambling house built by a grandfather of yore, and master chef, Marlie, our proprietress, aways armed with a delicious, hardy breakfast, local lore, a fascinating personal history, and directions to good places. Hats off Marlie, your hospitality was the perfect landing spot for two besties' 40th college reunion trip. Travelers, I highly recommend the Kingston if you're looking for something that feels island authentic.

We really enjoyed your visit and your lively review! Thank you so much for this. I'd like to think that all of the above is mostly true but for all the life stories I've heard, I'm not sure my mine is so fascinating... Anyway, a good time was had by all and it was great having you besties here. Hope to see you again, maybe for another reunion?! Cheers, Marlie

Washington DC, District of Columbia3 contributions1 helpful voteHi, I'm very interested in staying at your B&B, just wondering how far away the closest beach is. If you could please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Hello,
The nearest beach is Clarence Cove. Having said that, the island is only 20 square miles with 34 wonderful beaches and we're central. So depending on wind direction and tide, etc. our guests decide each day which beach they fancy. Hope this helps!
Harry & Marlie
10 mins walk to to town. I can't comment on busses but mopads are a great way to get around. Bermuda is small and distances are short. They will accommodate gluten free. They are vegetarians do don't expect bacon and eggs.
Bicycles are not available at Kingston House but may perhaps be rented in town. Mopeds can be rented in Hamilton. While a refrigeration/freezer is available to the guests, there are no cooking facilities. I doubt if any B&B would be permitted to allow guests to prepare their own meals on the premises for insurance purposes alone.
Complete the online form on Kingston House's website and pay in advance online.
Most beaches have a bus stop very near them. There are buses running the length of the South Shore Rd. so you can access John Smith's Bay, Elbow Beach, Warwick Long Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Church Bay and other smaller beaches. The North Shore buses will take you to Gibbons Bay, Shelley Bay, etc. There are a number of lovely beaches in the east end and, although the main bus routes terminate in St. Georges, there is a jitney that will take you to Tobacco Bay, Clearwater Beach and other places of interest as well. Some beaches have showers and change facilities as well as snack vendors but most have few or no amenities. You're best to pack a picnic lunch (we supply things you might need like a cooler) or visit one of the area pubs or cafe's in the area...Swizzle Inn is popular on the South Shore for example. Nearly all of the grocery stores to excellent take-aways. We have beach towels, umbrellas and mats, etc. For a per day fee a number of hotels will let guests other than their own use their facilities including change rooms, showers, lounge chairs and even tennis courts, etc. (Southampton Princess, Elbow Beach Hotel, Coco Reef Hotel, etc.) You'll probably find that it's easiest to wear swim things with a 'cover-up'. It's probably easier if we help you with some of this, and show you on the map when you get here. With regard to cruise ship visitors, we post the schedule of ships calling and can advise you on when and where to go to the main attractions as well as how to find plenty of amazing places off the beaten path. Hope this helps!
See you soon,
Harry & Marlie
It depends on what you mean by 'walkable'. Clarence Cove is the nearest beach (Admiralty Park) but if you're looking for those big wide pink sand South Shore beaches, you'd best take the bus. Elbow Beach is about a 10 min. ride from town, then there's a string of beaches including Warwick Long Bay, Jobson's Cove, Stone Hole Bay, Chaplin Bay, Peel Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Church Bay, West Whale Bay...the farthest beach to the west would be Snorkel Park at the Dockyard--that would be 55 minutes on the bus or 20 minutes by ferry from Hamilton. Did I mention that you can also go along the South Shore Rd. to the east and find some lovely beaches...all the way to St. Georges and St. David's Island (some of our favourites are in the east end).
