Myself and my sister stayed here for one night when we were cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats. This was my favourite place I stayed by a long way. The breakfast was lovely, and the house and bedrooms were very beautiful. Thanks for being so welcoming.

It was such a good feeling to cycle down to this wonderful B&B after a long days cycle - it was dark. We arrived late but in so many ways Elaine could not have made our stay more relaxing and enjoyable. Too late to eat in Gilsland, Elaine said that we could eat our fish and chips in her dining...

the best accommodation on the entire Hadrains wall route. A charming lady who welcomes you with a pot of tea and homemade cake. A breakfast that is truly stunning, served by the most charming chef. The beds are sumptuous and decor is truly wonderful. This place deserves to be fully booked forever.

What a wonderful place to stay. Truly sits on a hill a short walk from the center of Gilsland. Gracious hosts. Wonderfully warm welcome. Views can't be beat. Breakfast is one of the best. Very comfortable and charming rooms. Take a walk down the hall to read the room names - no room numbers here!

We were met with tea and a wonderful cake in the sitting room, or rather living room, off our room. There is an extensive library of books to borrow and comfortable chairs in which to enjoy them. Breakfast was the usual hot English breakfast, but of the best quality. The innkeeper was kind enough to drop us in the village...

Made welcome from the start with the offer of a cup of tea in the lounge. The rooms have everything you need, including extensive pots of tea, coffee and biscuits. The owners were lovely. The house is very grand.

Elaine made us so welcome from the minute we arrived for our 3 night stay with coffee and cake on the patio. The view was fantastic from our room ( Hadrian's Retreat) with the room and private bathroom equipped with every amenity you could think of. We stayed here one night, B&B. It is a lovely oldie-worldy place with quaint rooms and lovely furniture. We were made welcome with a pot of tea and delicious cake on arrival. Evening meal was taken at a pub in the village, 20 minutes walk away down the country lane. The room was very comfortable and had all we needed,...
