Wonderful location with views to Hadrian's Wall. Beautiful house and excellent breakfast. If you are in the area and walking the wall, stay here and be thoroughly indulged by Elaine and Ian. The beds are SO comfortable and everything is thought about to make your stay memorable.

The house was built in the fifteen hundreds but don't let it put you off. The accommodation is spacious with excellent toiletries and a very efficient shower. We loved the white cotton sheets and the very comfortable bed. We even had a cafetière with fresh coffee if we wanted along with the usual teas etc. Breakfast was excellent with fresh...

It took us a little while to get to our accommodation as the walking company's directions were useless but what a wonderful welcome we received from Elaine with home-made cake and a large pot of tea and a warming fire. The effort was well worth it as the location is stunning with wonderful views across the valley. Our room was...

Brilliant. It is akin to a country manor house. Very spacious and comfortable rooms with a large gracious drawing room for guests use. Our bedroom was large, comfortable and had everything we would wish for and more! Elaine served us tea on the terrace. So welcoming and had a nice chat. We were able to sit in the sunshine recovering...

Thus must be at least my fourth trip here. I adore the wonderful location. I awoke this morning to gentle birdsong, and a lovely garden view over to Hadrians Wall. The room and en suite were superb. A good selection of room beverages were available along with chocolates and mineral water. Breakfast was 10 out of 10 quality - and...

Sadly I cannot comment on the bedroom or the breakfast as being told very curtly that we could not check in until 4.30 by a landlady with her hands on her hips and a scowl on her face, meant we turned around and left! Never have I received such a cool reception at a hotel or B@B anywhere in the...

Response from Elaine, owner of Hill on the Wall. Dear Mrs Farish When you first made your booking in November 2016 you stated that you would be arriving at 4.00 p.m. I emailed you with the advice that check in time was from 4.30 p.m. onwards, which you accepted. The timing of 4.30 p.m. to receive guests is not an...

A beautiful house stocked with everything you could need. Elaine was very welcoming providing us with tea and delicious cake on arrival. The bedroom was a really good size with supplies of different varieties of teas and coffee and a dressing gown each for the hop across the corridor to the bathroom - the bathroom was equally well stocked and...
