Helen and her mother go to extraordinary lengths to make you welcome. We arrived tired and exhausted after a dreadful journey on the M6. A tray of tea and cake sorted that out! Breakfast was to die for...... It may so in years to come ( joke)

This was a very old farm house filled with antiques. I felt like I stepped back in time but with TV and internet connection. The lady of the farm had an afternoon tea waiting for us and we met the family and had tea and conversation. We learnt all about the area. Couldn't have been more friendly. She recommended a... I arrived at Howard House early, in the pouring rain, after 3 days walking Hadrians Wall. There was a fabulous welcome, a log fire, tea and homemade cake - all just for me. Where else in the world do you get this care and attention. After my fellow walker arrived much later, Helen drove us to the village to a... More

We stayed here to do some walking along Hadrian's Wall. We finally arrive after a rubbish rainy drive from london at 10pm. Helen welcomed us in to the guest lounge. There was an open fire and we were offered tea and kendle mint cake. The room was lovely. Really cosy and comfortable. The house is lovely. And full to brimming... More

Helen is part of seven generations who have lived in and managed the B & B in this house! Great room with lots of antique furniture. A bit of a way to the pub, but beautiful area! She made us a wonderful breakfast and drove us to where we started that day's hike!

Great welcome for weary walkers, drying rack provided for our wet clothes and boots put by radiator to dry. Log fire, pot of tea and toasted tea cake there for us when we arrived. Large comfortable room with nice shared bathroom. Masses of hot water for a welcoming bath. We were run down to the local pub for dinner and... More

Stayed here two nights on our wall walk. This working farm was a great place to slow down the pace of our cross country treck with some of the best parts of the wall nearby. Room was a good size and comfortable, breakfast was also very good. Elizabeth, the landlady, was great, she gave us tea and home made cakes... More

I stayed during my Hadrian's wall walk, and this was easily one of the best places I was booked into by my touring/baggage company. A friendly welcoming cup of tea, large comfortable room, well furnished, with a great view of the countryside. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were delicious and generously sized - breakfast included a wide variety of... More

As many of the other reviewers have said, Howard House Farm is a delightful experience from the warmest of welcomes to the antique furniture. Breakfasts were exceptional and you may need a second rucksack to accommodate the packed lunches. We couldn't recommend it more.

We had the good fortune to stay here for two nights on our epic Hadrian's Wall walk, with complicated lifts to drop and collect us along the path and then to-and-from Brampton to eat. Our hostess was a delight and happily ferried us about. But that was just the start. The house is a wonderful experience; stuffed with Victorian and... More
