I visited RBR with my wife and kids and we had a blast. Stacy and Mike were very attentive hosts any time I needed anything or had any concerns. We stayed in the little hill Casita which had a small fridge and an outdoor kitchen. It was great to have that flexibility because you know kids are with meals. The meals that were prepared by the the resort were top notch dining. Far better than anything that's available locally. Within walking distance there's some pulperĆas and little food stands which is very convenient. The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing. There was a party in the village one of the nights, but the music wasn't even that loud because the resort is on the edge of the village.

We had a wonderful time as a family of 4 plus another family of five joined us for a few days during our nine day visit. The food was fresh and very good- tuna steak was phenomenal, and the staff was flexible on times we needed to eat which was appreciated. Daily room service was appreciated, staff were all very attentive, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Our time in the ocean was all wonderful, as were the long walks on the beach, kite flying, and naps in hammocks. Mike and Stacy are excellent hosts and did so many extra things for us to ensure we had a good time at their place (pickle ball, asking for meal thoughts and offering us a wealth of information. The horse ride at a local farm was really worth your time! The beach at Redwood is so incredible- no rocks and just miles of beach is each direction in a gorgeous secluded area. This is my 10th visit to Nicaragua in the past 6 years, my first overnight stay at Redwood (although I have eaten here two times in the last three years). If you are considering a visit to Nicaragua, please don't hesitate! The country is so beautiful and the people are just so special. Mike and Stacy will make sure your stay is extra special as they really care about the people who stay at their home/resort. My only negative comment was the bugs really ate up my 16 year old daughter and our 20 year old friend, but they didn't always use bug spray and they must have tasted better than the rest of us!

We arrived at Stacy and Mikeā€™s amazingly beautiful resort mid afternoon Sunday. 8 of us had spent 1 1/2 days attending the local health needs of Nicaraguan villagers. The resort is set on the magnificent pacific coast in the far north west of Nicaragua. We were greeted and made to feel at home and given ACed cabanas and cold beer. The rooms were mucho comfortable, the common space very appealing. The beach is beyond words, miles and miles of flat sand, nice rollers for swimming and beginner surfers. Dinner was delicious, and the crab hunt after dinner with two of the staff an absolute hoot. The bonus was that the next day chef made amazing crab bisque for lunch. Mike and Stacy could not do enough for us including driving us and our supplies back and forth to our Monday clinic and Stacy acting as one of our translators. The only thing wrong or should I say missing, was people, no other guests and very few since last June. Nicaragua is now a peaceful country and needs to rejuvenate its tourism. Well if you like seclusion and fun, there is no better place to start than right here, make the effort, you will not regret.

This lovely little resort is located in a very peaceful and fairly remote stretch of Nicaragua, this means that when you visit you will be away from tourists and have the miles of empty beaches to yourself! Mike and Stacy are very friendly hosts who attend to your every holiday need, and who are proud of the area they now call home. The food is excellent and the rustic cabanas are cute, super clean and cosy. Recommend this spot if you want a quiet getaway!

This was my second week long stay at Redwood. The owners are attentive, delightful and knowledgeable of the surroundings and so willing to do whatever is needed to make your stay amazing. All of the staff are wonderful as well. Perfect scenery, off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Once you are there, you never want to leave.

My first thought when my partner booked this was that it was too far of a drive from the international airport in managua.
After arriving at the redwood after only 3.5 hours of a lovely drive I realized that on other vacations I had spent 10x more time on a plane, 5x more time on a bus or other horrible transportation. And this was worth the ride.
No waiting in line for buffet food, no searching for the last beach chair only to find out it costs a ton of money. Nothing really! This beach is paradise. The cabanas are charming and comfortable, they are right on the beach so you always have a beautiful view from your hammock in front of the cabana. The restaurant posts itā€™s menu every morning based on whatever is the freshest in the area, but itā€™s always prepared with loving hands in healthy fresh interesting ways, so you donā€™t feel like youā€™re eating the same things over and over again. Iā€™ve been here 4 times! Each time Iā€™ve found different types of people. Families with small children, couples, solo travellers, and people spending the night just to do some adventure activities around the hotel. Itā€™s hard to explain how quickly you feel comfortable and at home here!! Canā€™t wait to go back!!

We had a wonderful stay at Redwood everywhere you turn is beautiful. The cabins are comfortable with lots of space to set bags and luggage and nice bathrooms. Outside there are endless places to swing in a hammock, relax in a rocking chair and hang out as a group or on your own. The food is yummy and as fresh as it gets. The beach is amazing and so close the sound of the waves will put you to sleep every night. This is a great place to relax and have quite or fun time with family or friends.

Amazing is not enough to describe the spectacular location and hospitality of the owners and staff here. We had a great staycation here ā€”- the unending views , service and hospitality was incredible. The well appointed cabins , the incredible 17 miles of private beach , the delicious dinners and awe inspiring sunsets relaxing on the hammocks are only a few highlights. Thanks so much Stacy and Michael for a memorable vacation šŸ‘

We had a great time as a family of 6 plus my parents. Surfing was fun for us and the kids were able to surf as well as boogie board and play in the waves. Exploring the beach to the north was fun and empty! Also had fun playing pickle-ball.

Food was incredible and fresh from the ocean. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Definitely coming back!

We LOVED our stay at RBR. From a pristine beach that makes you feel like youā€™re on a private island, to great food, and a friendly staff, this place is where itā€™s at. We will certainly be back. 10/10

Our second day there Mike took us on a great tour that included Punta Nata (the cliff face shown), the mouth of Padre Ramos Estuary where we had our own bay with very relaxed water for swimming, and a stop at a very small mom and pop restaurant for some of the freshest seafood Iā€™ve ever had.

We especially like how they want you to pour into the community and not just the hotel!

Hi, weā€™re about 3 1/2 hours north of the Sandino Airport in Managua (MGA). A taxi costs about $130-$150 dollars each way. We can help arrange it or give you the company details.
Answer from RedwoodBeach
New York City, New York43 contributions14 helpful votes
Hi - Most guests rent a car (usually a 4x4 vehicle) to drive on our long, deserted beach and do a little sightseeing in this tourist-free area, but if you don't want to rent there are a few options...from Managua we can help arrange a private taxi for the 4 hour drive here (you can make stops along the way) or you take an express Microbus from the Managua Lewites station direct to Chinandega and then rent a cab for the 1 hour 15 mi ute drive up to RBR. We like to rent the entire 12-seat micro bus so that we can stretch out and keep our luggage with us. It costs about $75 -$100 for the Microbus and then $40-$50 for the cab. And with a 2 hour advance check-in you can leave here by 7 and be at the Managua Sandino Airport by 11, easily. If you're interested in the best rates and availability, there's a "Reserve Now" link on our web site. Stacy
