We stayed in the 700 block, ground floor. The room was clean and comfortable, great air conditioning (although the light is pretty bright at night and kept me awake). It was a little dated, needed some attention with a broken plug in the sink, a few broken tiles, slime on the outside wall etc. However, they were updating the block...

Ideal accommodation with exceptional service. Our beachfront suite was simply magic, with the view for witnessing the setting sun. The restaurant food was divine and the picturesque pool was accompanied by a cocktail bar. It would be sinful not to snorkel when the amazing beach is right at your steps and the abundant array of tropical fish is on show....

Sanctuary Rarotonga was the second resort we stayed at. It was by far the better of the two. Better value for money and better facilities. This is the sister resort to Rarotonga on the Beach. They are literally side by side the only difference being that this one doesn't allow children. We were given a room right on the beach....

The Sanctuary is attached to The Rarotongan Resort and Spa (we didn't know this at the beginning, but it does help to know, as you can use all of Rarotongan facilities). The Sanctuary is the 16+ version of The Rarotongan, and can only really be best described as The Rarotongan's retirement village. It is tired, lifeless, and a brand of...

We had a ground floor room where you stepped directly onto the sand and only needed a short stroll to the lagoon to snorkel among some beautiful tropical fish. This resort is child free, so it's quiet and peaceful. The room was clean and comfortable and only a short stroll to breakfast. The breakfast is a healthy one and they...

My husband and I spent a week in a 5 star resort on Aitutaki and had to have 1 night stop over in Rarotonga before flying back to Sydney. We knew the Sanctuary was not 5 star but thought it should still be 'up there' since it is rated 4 and a half stars. I would give this place 2...

I had requested a room on the beach but resort did not get my request but were more than happy to accommodate us the next day. We had a newly renovated room and our doors opened onto the beach. Everyone was so friendly from the reception and bar staff to the restaurant and housekeeping. Place is so relaxing and views...

Many aspects of this resort are not 4 star. The rooms are lovely but the housekeeping is done too late in the day and the floors are not always swept free of sand. They are never mopped. Older staff seem bored with tourists and not always obliging. Younger staff were very friendly and helpful. The floor of the dining area...

We arrived around 2am or so and were greeted by the receptionist! There was a little mishap with the room as I had requested a room on the lower ground and we were put into upstairs room! The receptionist stated that she could move us into the room on the ground floor, however it did not have a nice view...

Our room was located right on the beach and had the most magnificent views and, as a bonus, had recently been renovated. Our Wedding Planner (June) is highly recommended if you are intending to marry at The Sanctuary or the Rarotonga Beach Resort. June organised everything from the location on the beach, my hair and make-up (thanks Bianca), our fantastic...
