The Pennan Inn acheived fame as being featured in the superbe film Local Hero. My partner and I spent two nights at the Inn and had a lovely time. We had a sea facing room which was fairly basic but very comfortable. The staff are excellent and take time to talk to their guests. We had dinner in the restaurant... More

Pennan is off the beaten track but it is well worth visiting and the Inn is a must for gastronomes. If like me you like an aperitif and a bottle with dinner then book ahead. One nights bnb for two runs at £95 per night with an excellent breakfast. The dinner menu is seafood heaven nicely served. Dinner for two... More

My wife and I decided to drop into this tiny Village of Pennan and The Pennen Inn on the recommendation of some B&B owners in Stonehaven. While we weren't able to get a table, it was evident on all the happy faces that this was the local Inn of choice. We were'nt very far away from our final destination so... More

We ate here this evening and the food was wonderful. Whilst the choice is not huge, there is something to suit most palates and the food is excellent quality. We shared a magnificent sticky toffee pudding for dessert and would definitely recommend that you try it! It is probably advisable to book as there are only a few tables.

A local venue enjoyed by myself and friends, a real get-away from the usual pub / grub places on offer in the north east coast. Surroundings are stunning and great atmosphere, and of course the setting of the movie " Local Hero ". Never fail to have fun here ........... escape the " Rat Race ", head to Pennan !

For those that don't already know Pennan was the location for a film a while back - and they are still dining out on it now - go and have a look, see the famous phone box, and read the story on the bar wall! The bar is small, seating on 12 in the afternoon, but what the venue lacks... More

I've been meaning to go to Pennan for a long time (like a lot of people, I love the film Local Hero...) and finally did so today. We'd booked a meal at the Pennan Inn to follow a stroll along the harbour and the customary photo of the phone box and none of it disappointed. The dressed crab was absolutely... More

Great escape for a long weekend away for our anniversary - limited internet, great views, no phone signal - perfect. Staff were welcoming and friendly no matter where you passed them. Scottish Breakfast every morning and the chef accommodated all my fussy eater requests - thank you. Didn't have lunch but the evening meals we did have where outstanding, definitely... More
