Had the pleasure of dining at the Eskdale several times over last couple of weeks. Excellent food, presented well and really tasty. I would thoroughly recommend it, accompanied by some cracking ale. Well done

Close to Castleton railway station this is a bit out of town and what I'd describe as a basic pub with a small enclosed back yard / garden with some benches. It's doggy friendly, but not a pub that I would go to for 'pleasure'....More

Dogs are more than welcome ours were positively pampered. We willcertainly return as the landlady was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They even have a space next to the beer garden where you can let your dogs... More

If you're asking re walking castleton to Whitby, my Hudl says 5 hours or so! The Esk valley train takes 45 minutes & its a superb run, not to be missed & this pub is a 2 minute walk from the station!
