As we arrived we commented on the lovely garden and, particularly, the hanging baskets. I always find that behind a well kept garden is a well kept hotel. And I was right - everything came up to expectations (or exceeded them). All rooms face the garden, and ours looked out beyond the river to hills on the English side of...

There were 60 of us in the Probus group and we descended upon the restaurant with a hunger. After a scramble at the bar to be served, after a suitable rest we went into the dining room for what turned out to be a splendid lunch. The first courses were imaginatively created; the mains good and solid, with a selection...

We visited for lunch on a Wednesday, were served our beverages promptly enough, and waited approximately three-quarters of an hour before the meal was finally served. It took both of us at different times checking to see what the serving delay was. We were told it was a busy day, although we saw only one other table occupied in the...

Having reviewed this place on trip advisor I was not sure which review to believe. There are some posts with pictures of peeling paint and not great service etc etc. Well I can say there was no peeling paint so the pictures that were taken must have been before some running repairs took place and the service was impeccable. It's...

Surprising very pleasant, rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Good Internet connection Excellent room service with good everyday food. Helpful staff Lovely Setting right by the Abbey, even though just off the main road, you do not hear the traffic.

We spent a few days walking in the area, Tintern Abbey a very short walk away. Explored Symonds Yat, got hopelessly lost in the Forest of Dean, walked 45km in 3 days. The Royal George was a happy haven to return to with weary feet & legs. Rooms beautiful, everything we needed. Dog was welcomed too, which was helpful. Lovely...

The hotel has a spectacular location in The Wye Valley, Tintern Abbey is just down the road, beautiful at sunset. I was checked in by Ruth, she seemed to be the jack of all trades, running reception and the bar, the room (35) had a fantastic view of the gardens and was a lovely spacious room. I went down for...
