Popped in here on the off chance with the kids and was pleasantly surprised! Initially felt it might be a bit old fashioned and not what we were after but I was totally wrong. Lovely bar food and super service. Would recommend for families.

We have been to lunch here with a walking group on many occasions and have never been disappointed with the service and the food. I had the Beef, mushroom and red wine pie this time and it was brilliant. A very good place to visit and enjoy good food.

We enjoyed a six night stay at this hotel which is located within easy access of a lot of interesting and scenic places to visit. You can walk along the River Wye right from the hotel. Barry and Sue are excellent hosts and their staff are also cheerful and helpful. We felt the standard of food and service was above...

Took my wife here for her birthday so she could wander around the grounds of Tintern Abbey and satisfy her fascination with historic buildings and then eat in the evening. The hotel is situated on the main road (as are most of the places in this village) but the double glazing reduces most noise to a minimum. The bar area...

We stayed here last week. The hotel itself is nicely old fashioned with plenty of character. The bedroom we stayed in was of a good size with three windows, the bed very comfortable and homely. The bar meals were excellent in their quality and variety with local beers and with locals eating and drinking there as well as residents. The breakfasts are...

Ideally located, and attentive and friendly hosts. Room was clean and well presented. Improvements? The shower is a fashionable "rainfall" type, but I could hardly feel the water, it needs more pressure. TV could not be viewed from the bed as the bedstead obscured it. Filter coffee provided but no way of making it. Lack of surfaces in bathroom. We...

We have just returned from the Wye Valley Hotel, where we spent a very enjoyable weekend. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful with local knowledge of walks. They were always willing to open the bar when we wanted a drink even if the bar was closed. Breakfast was very good as was the food in the evening. Good...

We've driven past this Hotel many times but never stopped. This time we were driving home after our visit to relatives over Christmas and as it was lunchtime we called in for a bite to eat What a great decision! I ordered the Cheese Ploughmans and it was the best I've ever eaten. You could choose 2 varieties of cheese...

This time an August visit to the Wye Valley Hotel, a great weekend of great food and kind hospitality. Long walks with the doggies for this great location in Tintern. Lovely clean rooms, with tea/coffee and freshly baked biscuits everyday. Doggies enjoyed their doggy room and are so well come in the bar. Restaurant dog free for those who prefer....
