Stayed for a 2 night weekend with 2 other couples. This is a very comfortable boutique hotel. Very nice decorations, lovely bar, excellent food. Breakfasts were very very good and we attended a Sunday lunch celebration of a friends birthday where the food was fab. Can't fault the place, only 5 mins off the motorway and a 2 mins walk...

Stayed at the 1863 for two nights. We had breakfast and evening meal both days. The room was a good size for a short break. It was clean, well decorated, with pleasant furnishings. There was a modern bathroom suite with excellent shower. The food was nouvelle cuisine well presented and very tasty. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and...

Just popped in for a coffee . Very friendly and warm longer area with real stove fire. Warm and clean. Would like to try food as well. Recommended if in the area. Definitely worth a visit and they have special tasting menus that look interesting.

Very lovely hosts who were very helpful, pleasant clean a newly decorated room allbeit small, with lovely outlook of the enchanting but quiet High Street. Fine ale available at the in-house bar which was fantastic and unusual for such a quaint bistro. We didn't eat there but the food looked amazing and...

The room we stayed in was boutique style, very clean, comfortable and stylishly decorated, the rest of the hotel was of a similar high standard and you can see...

My husband booked this as a "suprise" valentines meal. We had heard lots of good things about 1863 so really wanted to try it ourselves. I'm happy to say we weren't disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with lots lovely little touches. The menu isn't huge but there was 4 choices for each course. We both had 3 courses...

Professional and friendly service, delicious and refined food and pleasant, relaxed surroundings. Look no further for a superb restaurant. We all enjoyed a lamb main course (to avoid food envy!) Which was artistically presented and melt in the mouth. For dessert, we tried the sticky toffee pudding and one of our group ordered the rhubarb with panna cotta. Both were...
