Wow, our stay at Finca San Juan de la Isla was incredible! I was so impressed with the design and cleanliness of the rooms - very modern and chic. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond, especially with Covid precautions. The food was also delicious. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Ometepe!
I stayed for a couple of nights in one of the cottages. The room was excellent, with great air conditioning and a lovely bathroom area. There were a numerous places to sit and eat/drink/relax, including a personal area outside the room with four rocking chairs and a hammock. There was a wide selection of food available, all good quality. The waiters were attentive and quick. The hotel is on the beach and has a small area to sit in, as well as an option to walk for a long way. There is a lot of wildlife, a group of monkeys was next to my room during the stay.
Stayed here for 4 nights mid January. On arrival I was already so happy with how peaceful and beautiful the grounds were. The rest of our stay there felt the same. From beautiful views of the lake and islands, to views of the volcanoes overlooking the farm. You can’t beat this place. The receptionist at the front desk (Carolina?) is so friendly and knowledgeable about the island. She recommended many things around the island that were all amazing. The waiting staff is friendly, fast, and professional (Juan was the BEST). Not one issue while staying here. This is the place to stay on Ometepe. They will also arrange all transportation for you if need be. Amazing service.
The lake front cabins are amazing with a great view. The food was delicious and affordable. The server Juan was so attentive and nice. He recommended many items on the menu. He explained somethings around the island that we benefited from. Service was great. Everyone even from reception was nice.
First, the resort is just beautiful. Second, the location is directly on an excellent swimming beach. Third, the service and meals were excellent. So go that we did not want to eat anyplace else.Fourth, the price was super reasonable. The owner, Cesar, was on site and made everything even more enjoyable. Our group could not have had a better time. We are so glad we stayed here. I would give this resort 10 stars if I could. 10/10 Recommended.
The hotel itself was great. There was a chef on site that prepared cook to order meals. There was a bar there as well with great wait staff. The beach was very secluded and private. The only downside is that the hotel is removed from any other towns and it will take you about 30-40 min to get to anything. Also, the "road" to the hotel isn't really a road. It is a washed out dirt path through plantain fields and it is a VERY bumpy ride. All and all, great place if you want to get away and relax.
If you're looking for night life, this is not the place for you. The hotel is located on the lake and is quite far from the entrance. In fact, it is quite far from everything. Our cabana on the water was very nice. However, the quantity of pestering insects at night made it almost impossible to enjoy the restaurant, or bar.
Our family had an exceptional time at Finca San Juan, truly the best place we saw on the island. Breakfast is wonderful, the staff exceptional. The grounds contain all sorts of animal sounds, we heard monkeys, saw iguana, parrots, toads, and men fishing. The hotel is off the main road about a mile of dirt road, passable by car, but glad we had a SUV. We traveled from Rivas with our suv on the ferry, make ferry arrangements in advance for this option. San Juan was a great place to relax after exploring the island. Loved the morning sunrise, and exploring the banana plantation. Suggest arranging one of the rooms on stilts or the separate cabins for a better experience. The rooms attached to the reception area are small and very crowded. Wish the restaurant was open later, know that most of the island closes early so a late dinner after sunset is difficult to find.…
We loved this place! After staying overnight at a different ecolodge on Ometepe (which was terrible), we reserved a night here and couldn't be happier. Our casita was facing the water so we had a nice evening breeze. The rooms were clean with a/c, the scenery was beautiful and the food was delicious (we ate dinner and breakfast). The staff was very friendly too. I wish we had more time so we could stay multiple nights. You won't be disappointed.
My husband and I were traveling around Nicaragua for our honeymoon and stayed here for a night. The scenery alone is worth staying at this hotel. They have a beautiful beach where you can see the sunset. The service was fabulous!! My husband and I ordered food to climb the volcano and they had it ready at breakfast the next day. The staff even watched our bags when we climbed the volcano. We will definitely be back!
