This place is not only colorful in terms of decor but also of it's people- open-minded for everyone. Good vibes, cocktails and music are guaranteed. The staff is helpful, friendly and speak frensh, english and spanish. Even though I only spend one day on the island, they gave me a personal tour suggestion- and it was just perfect. To the busstation and port it is only a 10min walk. There is a fitness center on the opposite of the street, still it is quiet. A dormatory bed costs 6 $ a night, Bicycles are available for 5 $ a day (fair price) and safes for valuables for free. I can only recommend this place- it's a paradise for all backpackers!
Across The Lake to Ometepe: yet another of Nica's under-the-radar charms. This hostel in Moyo, run by the ever-helpful Quebecoise Joana, is a great value & characterful HQ from which to foray. The bar/restaurant is colourful (if a wee bit kindergarteny) and the bowery terrace behind fine for chilling out. Comfy enough bed & clean washing facilities. About ten mins hike up from the boat landing, so hardly Volcan Concepcion on the lungs.
Great stay at Hospedaje Central. Juana, the French owner, is super kind and knows all of the best people to help you with all kind of activities. I rented a scooter and went horse back riding through this hotel and I am very thankful I did. The food at the restaurant is also great. The rooms meet very clean standards. Lots of locals come here to hang out at the restaurant in the evening as it is often the most lively place in town (the rooms are in the back so it wont disturb you if you want to rest early). Also great choice of music throughout the day ;)
The hostel is in a great location, only about 5 mins from the port. The staff at the hostel were really helpful & gave us lots of tips, not only for Ometepe but also for our onward travel. Nice layout with space to relax in the garden. Breakfast was included - can’t beat pancakes! Also worth having dinner there - fish & tacos were amazing!
The rooms are basic but have everything you need. We only paid 15 dollars for a private twin room. The owner can cook great food as well, for very good prices. He uses fresh ingredients and you can taste that it is made with great care. They offer motorbike rentals and vulcano tours. We made use of both services and had a great time. Furthermore, I would say it is completely safe to go here in Nicaragua!
This is a great spot within a short walk from the ferry. Only $4.50 per night for the dorms you cant go wrong. The owners are really nice, dorms are clean and food is great. Cant go wrong! Would definitely stay there again next time Im on the island.
I would give this hostel 6 stars if I could. My friend and I stayed there as we were traveling through Latin America for 6 months and this was my favorite hostel from the trip. Very atmospheric, really good food, really good location (right up from the dock), nice staff and a great price. It was $4 each for a bunk in dorm when we stayed. Compared to other hostels in the region, it’s very cheap for much better accommodations. Would definitely go back.
Staff were incompetent and awkward. We rented a scooter but the guy working in the hostel tried to rip us off and charge us for the full day although we were only renting for half so be careful of this. When I confronted him he laughed with his friend. There was a strange vibe about the place and the owner was so strange - I personally didn't feel safe even though with somebody.
The double room was very good value for money. The place is clean and central in Moyogalpa, very comfortable to reach the pier in the morning, with local eateries and a supermarket nearby. They quickly arranged for us a motorbike to explore the surroundings for a day. Staff was very nice and kind. I recommend this place!
We love this place! Stayed here for about 5 days, then moved to a house we've rented, but we keep coming back here for the good vibe. It's run by great people, it's clean, food is great and reasonably priced. We definitely recommend Hospedaje Central, also known as Indio Viejo.
