Truly sweet people who run this place. I cannot overstate how warm they were. There are things that transcend any language barrier, and the kindness of these people is one of those things. Additionally, the price can not be beat. If you want a loud party hostel, this is not for you. If you want a restful place situated on an island - in a 4500 sq mi lake, with two volcanoes on it... My only regret was leaving.
After long trip I was just dreaming about swimming in the pool, but when I arrived the pool was under construction. I think this information should be updated on booking. I was upset about it. The host rudely said that he doesn’t know when it will be fixed. I asked about WiFi to get another hostel, he said that only his son knows the password and he is not here. And then he said it is better for me not to stay on his hostel anyway. But after the treatment I got I was not even planning to.
Really great place to stay. Hosts are so welcoming and kind, nothing is too much trouble. We only booked one night but ended up staying for 3. Traditional Nicaraguan food cooked excellently by Lea. Rooms are comfortable with fans and own bathroom. Lea and Maykell took us with them to the local Rodeo in Moyogalpa....really great, fun night out at a traditional Nicaraguan event. Organised Scooters and gave us plenty of helpful advice. I have never had better hosts than Lea and Maykell, I can't praise them enough :-) Thank you both
My fiance and I stayed here for 4 nights and the family are so nice, they went out of their way the moment we arrived to help us and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. By the end of the 4 days we felt like we were part of the family! We are dinner here for two nights and the food was delicious and great portions too. The mama is a great cook! The property also has three dogs all of which as super friendly and just made our stay even more enjoyable. Nicaragua has really been hit hard because of what happened in Managua in April but honestly we felt so safe here and as a matter of fact we have felt really safe all over Nicaragua wherever we have travelled. La casona is a real little gem in ometepe and if you make it here you should definitely stay here 👍
We spend 2 nights over here when we arrived on Ometepe, the 2 owners were so friendly and helpful. We arranged a motorbike through them for 25$ which is a real fair price. Also ate a couple times, it’s all local and the food is so good. Definitely a recommendation if you want to visit a peaceful place
Omatepe is amazing and this little hotel is no frills, cheap and has amazing friendly owners and great food. We were on our bikes and they were so helpful. If you’re going to go here - call them to book, and skip using Booking.com. Not fancy but clean, safe and welcoming.
