We had a fabulous meal here. The food was fantastic and the service couldn't be better. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They were not over attentive. We look forward to going back.

We stayed for 1 night on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal and were very impressed by the service, food, and bedroom itself. A warm, friendly welcome and great service throughout our stay. A comfortable, characterful and nicely decorated bedroom. And a delicious dinner and breakfast. Mistley itself is a great setting and we had a lovely view of the...

What a gem of hotel, this hotel was fantastic and couldn't be faulted, everything was of the highest quality, from the linen, towels, robes and the bed was huge and sooo comfortable, a great nights sleep was had by both my husband and I, we stayed here for a couple of nights and I wished it could have been longer,...

My Partner's son unexpected arrived on a Saturday, a vegan so where could we go for a nice lunch ? A quick phone call to the Mistley Thorn confirmed that they could rustle up a vegan dish for him. We arrived and he was presented with a proper menu of vegan dishes, two starters, two mains and I think three...

Stayed here over the Christmas break as this is very near to the family. Had a very pleasant three nights, Christmas Eve to the day after Boxing Day. Placed was closed up on Christmas day but stuff was left for breakfast. A comfortable, well appointed and clean room with views over the estuary to watch the flocks of birds wheel...

House guests suggested somewhere pleasant to repay festival hospitality. A countryside drive to the riverside village of Mistley through Manningtree was called for. An old friend the Mistley Thorn found us a table and we enjoyed a very pleasant luncheon with an emphasis on fish and crustacean dishes - a fitting finale to a very hectic week of Christmas and...

Unexpected in this location, (a long way from anywhere!) I wished we had longer to explore the area. Formerly a pub, it has been renovated with at least 6 bedrooms on two floors, over a great gastro bar, serving fashionable gins, cocktails and a great choice of wines, plus an open fire! Our bedroom was warm and fresh with en-suite...

We popped in for a coffee and the staff were very willing to help. The hotel was busy but they found us a table. Its good to find a dog friendly hotel. Even our pooch Kato was treated to a water bowl and treat.

We went to the Thorn at Mistley for a famity meal. Friendly welcome, helpful staff. I had an excellent skirt steak. My wife had grilled fish which she enjoyed. The restaurant was busy and is obviously popular. They specialise in fish dishes. Mistley railway station is only a short step away so you needn't worry about driving there and back....

Combines the historic with up to date modernity and one of the best hotels we've stayed in. Located by the river Stour and near to Dedham Vale the Mistley Thorn is both easily accessible from London as well as being a hidden gem of Essex. Had room in the annexe which was lovely and spacious, very comfortable and very clean....
