My husband and I were camping for a weekend, and it was a great experience, it was raining the night we arrived but the next day was sunny and warm, this national park has many beautiful views and the campground has every thing you need to be more comfortable. People were very friendly I took may photos because the view... More

This is one of my favorite campgrounds and National Parks. I select this particular walk in site every time as it is the furthest out into the woods, quiet, and private. Except for the parade of wildlife visitors all day. I use and Eno Hammock system to camp in. The Park provides a picnic table, fire ring and a bear... More

Stayed two nights on this campsite whilst driving in a 30' RV along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive. It was very busy on the Saturday night as you would expect, and to be honest the bathroom and shower facilities were inadequate for the number of people staying - found them to be very wet and quite dirty that... We had a great time here. We asked the ranger for advice and he recommended a tent-only walk-in for us (we wanted to be slightly secluded). The site had a bear box, as all sites not directly next to your car do. I was completely paranoid about the bears, but we didn't have a single encounter, and just followed the... More

The campsites were very well maintained, the staff was so very friendly and so are all the campers. The bathrooms were very clean as well. It was super convenient to all the hikes in the park and at a beautiful location. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back.

As a youth I camped in Big Meadows for two weeks every summer with my parents, and this was my first trip back in nearly 30 years. We booked walk-in site number 35, which is the first site off the parking area. Despite being so close, it was secluded and well shaded. This site does not include a bear box... More

This huge campground caters to people of all ages. The fee is only $20 per night ($10 if you have a Golden Age card). Campsites are spacious and you don't feel that you are in a parking lot. No hookups of course but there are plenty of comfort stations and showers are available for a small fee. We camp a... More

Hundreds of sites, shady and large. No hookups though. Close to the lodge and visitors center. Numerous hikes from here including the AT. Clean showers and bathrooms. Wood for sale. Internet available at visitors center. No cell service. Ranger programs available. The main place to camp in the park. Very tame deer will visit you nightly.

The wife and I are tent campers. This is a great campground for tent camping. If you know when you're going to visit, plan ahead and make reservations. There is a very nice tents-only section. Abundant wildlife roams the park and the campgrounds (along with the Park) are dog friendly. Bear Prevention camping required. Bear boxes provided in spots without... More
