Yep it's rustic so why the 5 stars? Because the lodging offered at Montecito Sequoia is as good as it gets in Sequoia National Park/Kings Canyon. So within the park, on a 1-5 star basis for winter lodging, this is as good as it gets. Now for the specifics: First off in keeping with my 5 star rating, Montecito has...

The bad, the food sometimes seemed like it was prepared by the late Helga Van Der Voort (my 7th grade lunch lady) but other times it seemed like they at least put a little effort into it. I wouldn't call the food hit or miss but maybe bunt or miss. Secondly, while the rooms seemed clean enough the bedding and...

This is an all inclusive resort in the middle of Sequoia National Park. It appeared to be a family destination for winter time activities. It brought back memories of the old style resorts in the 50's, complete with the community dining room. I would never have believed these kind of family cabin resorts still operated. Rooms are rustic with no...

Oh and great access to the Sequoia tree groves. Its great the way there is no TV distractions. All about the views, activities and the great food. Rustic it is. But the friendly staff become part of the family. Look for a young man called Wit.

We spent 2 nights here with our family- 2 adults and kids 6&8. We stayed in Lakeview lodge our first night in a suite which was lovely and then moved Saturday night to sugarpine lodge to stay in a family room with a king and 2 bunk beds because the prices went up due to holiday weekend. The staff was...

We go every year for a long weekend of snow play; this year there was no snow but still had a great time. Thank you to Bryson who made a game of paintball between two teenagers and an "old" woman really fun! All of the staff here are great, as is the food. Rooms are "no frills" but super comfy,...

The location and staff were all perfect; plus all meals were included in the room price. I love their food. It's super delicious and it's buffet! This place was a bit noisy since there were so many kids around. The room's wall that I stayed is quite thin too so I could hear the sound from outside--mostly from small kids....

I am sorry we couldn't spend more time at the lodge. This place is perfect for the family! Very friendly atmosphere, very helpful staff (the reception gave us good advice on places to visit) and very good food. We arrived quite late in the evening (almost past dinner time), but we were still served. Some other people called and the...

Now this is a place that fits into the category of Family, Fun, Community & Great Activities! So if you are one of these people that only like 4 or 5 Star accommodation with superior service, stop reading now! Montecito is not about the glitz or running after people! We arrived about 2 hours early but there was no problem...

We've stayed four times in the last six years. We love it. We've seen probably three different managers/owners. We come here every year for cross country skiing. The resort is definineatley on the upswing. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with the updates. The lighting was brighter throughout the lodge, including the hallway and rooms. The lodge dining area has...
