The lodge is a wee bit down on its heels but overall provided a very pleasant stay. I highly recommend the second-floor balcony for coffee and bird-watching from the comfort of the lodge. (Construction sounds, starting at 7, were a bit of a drawback but understandable as the build/restore other properties.) Walking access to some of the park's features, including...

As some previous reviewers have pointed out, the lodge is still working on a new restaurant. I'm not sure when it will be finished, but as of now, dining options are very limited, so consider bringing your own food. We stayed in the main lodge. We were on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. I realize that in...

Finally made it to see the Redwoods and upgraded when we got there to the Lodge instead of the cabin that was the only thing available when we booked. Comfortable stay with a nice restaurant that is being used while the other restaurant is being renovated. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Have never stayed in a national park before so...

Sequoia Nat'l park is an amazing site. So impressive, and since we wanted to spend a couple of days there we thought we'd stay in the park and the John Muir Lodge. The location and setting among the trees was great, but it was not as good of a facility as we'd hoped for. More akin to a Best Western...

I have stayed at several grand lodges in National Parks. This is not one. We knew that dining was in the lobby(building new dinning building). We read to be opened in May. Not even close to completion May 13-14 our visit. We notice a sign at the construction site stating end of May completion.. NO WAY. Hall carpets were filthy,...

We stayed on our trip to Kings Canyon and Sequoias National Parks. It has the perfect location if you are going to both. We stayed in the cabins, purchased the bed and breakfast package, and used the shared restrooms. The cabin was neat and afforded us privacy from the crowd. I could have used a little more light, a few...

We stayed 2 nights. Our registration was ok, but Glen seemed to be overwhelmed. Since there is no elevator, we had to carry our bags into the lodge and up a lot of stairs to our room. The room was fairly large and clean, but we had to get maintenance to fix our screen, so we could keep our windows...

We decided to stay in the John Muir Lodge for our Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park vacation. We expected the John Muir Lodge to be a bit nostalgic, but nice. We were sorely disappointed. We were aware that the dining room was closed due to being remodeled, but expected some kind of reasonable dining service. First, the rooms were...

The renovation in 2000 tried to give this lodge an old time feel. Rooms are basic and comfortable and clean. Registration was chaotic and there was a wait for rooms, even for our 5:00 arrival! Keurig in-room coffee was good but breakfast was buffet only at $12 and dinner meals were only fair, if that - but you can bring...

They used a lot of wood in building the lodge. Staff is always friendly and helpful, entire lodge is very clean. Steel hall doors and water conserving toilets are some of the up to date features. Reservations are required at the dining room to prevent overwhelming the staff. Supper ($6 to $16) prices are reasonable. Breakfast is $13 buffet. No...
