Visited the week before Easter. This CG is technically outside the park, but it is awesome. Large rock formations provide excellent, private campsites. Of note, these can be reserved in advance, a good thing given the first come campgrounds are usually jammed. The other reservation only campground, Cottonwood is nowhere near as nice. Our site was #42. Smaller, but the...

Indian Cove boasts private, spacious and campsites set amidst the kind of towering and twisted granite monoliths that Joshua Tree National Park is famous for. The scenery here is both spectacular and surreal. especially in the late afternoon and early evening, when the light and shadow begin to play on the surface of the rocks. Generally uncrowded on the weekdays...

The star gazing was spectacular. The rocks surrounding the camp look like a Martian landscape. Lots of clean latrines around. The water spigot and ranger station is a mile or so away. Nice fire pit and picnic table at each site. The sites are flat and although they are close together they each have privacy. We did a backcountry trip...

We drove 2.5 hours from LA going through some beautiful scenery. When we pulled up to the Indian Cove Camping ground everyone in the car just went silent except to say wow. We could not believe how beautiful this place was. The camp sites are right against the boulders which provides a bit of privacy from other campers. If you...

This camp ground is really nice. I've stayed here twice and have really enjoyed camping here. The campground is surrounded by cool rock formations that you can scramble on or rock climb. Overall it's pretty quiet and easy to get to. There is no running water in the camp and the bathrooms are basically pit toilets. I would suggest booking...

There's a reason why musicians around the world go here for inspiration. A haunting, strange landscape. Only stayed a night here but it was great. Simple campgrounds with drop toilets. Bring water and supplies and meditate on the vibe of this place. Awesome.

This is a very nice campsite close to Twentynine Palms city. I was worried that I will be able to see city lights from campsite, but that is not the case. Ranger's help to answer question about campsite is always great. Ranger station has water that one can fill for drinking or other use. But far from campsite though. My...

I have been camping in Joshua Tree for over 20 years and this is one of my favorite spots to stay with my kids. The group sites fill up fast, especially the ones in the back, and are great for multiple families, but reservations need to be made a year in advance to get a spot. The nearest water is...

This was our first camping trip to Joshua Tree. We booked a group camping site at Indian Cove. It was perfect for a large group. There is a rustic bathroom and no running water. The rocks and scenery are AMAZING. Seriously- you must go!!! You can rock climb right at the camp- and there are many routes up the different...

I have camped at Joshua Tree many times, but this was my first one staying at Indian Cove, where you can actually reserve a campsite. Fortunately, some friends of mine had made reservations. My expectations were not high and I was really surprised at how nice it was in most every respect. The campsites were nice and not crowded (campsite...

“Walk-in sites 99-101 are well worth the short "stuff carry" from your vehicle. Secluded, semi-private, and great wind shelter.”

“If traveling with kids resole there sneakers with climbing rubber (dot tread C-4 by Five10)... this is as much a luxury as a safety thing... your kids will b climbing all over the rocks (part of the fun) and the resole will make them MUCH MUCH safer... I have the Rubber Room do my kids kicks... money well spent as you can not buy actual sticky approach shoes in kids sizes.”
