No cell service !!! Whoop! The lodge has different options - Housekeeping Cabins (nestled in the woods) and Lakeview (along the shore of Lake Superior facing south). Depends on you preference - woods is more solitude and quiet with sparse views of Tobin Harbor and lake is a little busier with great views of the lake and crashing waves upon...

Most folks don't know this, but there are housekeeping cabins on IR besides the Lodge. This is the second time we've stayed in them - once in 2008 and 2016. The cabins have the same mid-century modern architecture as the Lodge - only MUCH larger. The cabins are 15' deep and 20' wide with a wall of picture windows that...

We are mid and late 60's travellers, so this is geared for you. We spent two nites at the Lodge, which is just a five minute flat paved walk from the marina. The two restaurants are within that walk, as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Your luggage is brought from the boat for you, and picked up from...

The island life is the life for me. There are no phones. No cars. No Wi-Fi to speak of. No TV. But in exchange you get a nice clean place to sleep with the waves lapping at the shore right outside your front door. Ask for the lower level to take advantage of the small patio and a couple of...

The rooms are not luxurious, but they are better than we expected. The knotty pine paneling looks great and is fairly recent. The composite balcony right on the shoreline is awesome. The mid-century plumbing fixtures worked fine and added to the "cabin" ambiance. Opening the windows at night to hear the waves hitting the rocks and catch the breeze is...

We spent four days on Isle Royale and stayed at Rock Harbor Lodge. This is pretty basic accomodation - but absolutely perfect for a few days of hiking and staying 'off the grid'. No cell service. No internet. Lots of natural beauty and wildlife. Rooms are clean and most have a view of Lake Superior. This is NOT an inexpensive...

The rooms at Isle Royale have a greeat view of the lake. You can leave the window open and hear the waves of Lake Superior all night. The food is outstanding, particularly the salmon and the lake trout. The beds are very comfortable and have plenty of room. Now for the bad news. The Housekeeping staff does NOT know how...

My husband said he wanted to go here and I had not even really heard of it. SO glad we went. 3 1/2 hours on a boat to get here and it can be rough- take sea sick pills! The lodge is very cute, reminds me of camping as a kid. The room was fairly big and right on the...

From the moment we arrived, gritty and grimy from 4 days of hiking the Greenstone from Windigo, we were treated with personal care. ("I'm so sorry to be so filthy." "It's fine! We're used to it!") All the staff were friendly: the office manager, the waitstaff in the restaurant, and the bellhop who took our bags to the seaplane. This...

Excellent lakeside location with clean rooms, comfortable beds and a great porch to sit on and just chill an relax and read a book. The wait staff at the restaurant, was very friendly and very good. The food was pretty basic but healthy and good. Slow internet service available at the Guest house. Pretty expensive for what you get, with...
