Do not go to this hotel expecting luxury. It does not appear to have been renovated since it was built. The bathroom is tiny. There is no air conditioning. But, the draw for this place is the view of the lava lake. At night, the glow is very cool. During the day, take advantage of one of their guided tours....

Booked a crater view room. So cool to see the glow of the lava from your room. Front Desk props to Erica. She was so knowledgeable and helpful. Our room wasn't ready as we got in a bit early but she took our cell number and called us a soon as was ready. She went out of her way to...

Aloha and mahalo for your review. We are delighted to hear that Erica made a wonderful first impression, and that she shared the true spirit of aloha in her "own way." She is a valued member of our team and we will be sure to share your kind words with her. We're also happy to hear that you enjoyed dining...

We had the opportunity to stay at Volcano House one night this past May and were very pleased with our room. While we didn't face out over the Caldera, our room was quiet and comfortable and it was obvious that the folks at Aqua have done a great job bringing this wonderful old hotel back to a quality location. Frankly...

As with most National Park hotels, your enjoyment depends on the room you get. We had opted to skip the crater view rooms since you can walk to the other side of the hotel easily. We made our reservations early and were very pleased to score not only a room on the second floor, but one on the end -...

The food was great and the view was amazing. The staff was extremely nice! We were able to view the volcano while eating and then walk down to the lower balcony to get some great pictures. My husband hates volcanoes but he enjoyed the view as well.

The Volcano House is an older hotel, but that only adds to its charm, in my opinion. If you've ever stayed at any other National Park lodge, then you understand that it's not about the perfection of the building, but about the location and the experience of being immersed. The hotel is small, but that allows it to not be...

Only in Hilo for a day on a Monday, this became a must do event. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy. Went up to the park for dinner about 5:00pm. Restaurant was not crowded but visibility was ZERO out the widow. Temp was about 57 degrees. We sat down and Savannah took care of us. Delightful young lady with infectious smile....

This hotel was closed for several years recently for renovation, but it's not easy to see what was improved. Overall the rooms were shabby, the lighting poor, very small bathroom, and it was obvious that no vacuuming was done on our second day. Overal:l over-priced for this old property.

We had a one night stay in a crater view room. Check in was very fast and easy - complete with a Hawaiian Mimosa. Room was very basic but clean and comfortable. Room 3 had a so-so view of the crater. Make sure to go on the 1 1/2 hour complimentary guided tour of some of the near by park...
