Our hotel stay at El Tovar was definitely not worth it! The room was small, the bed was small, and the appointments were second-rate. From the torn carpet, the the noisy air-conditioner in the wall, the room looked like one of those roadside motels with numbers in the name! I wished I had booked a nice rtoom outside the park...

We booked the lowest class of room for two people, and we were not disappointed with the price or the experience. Moments of grandeur are there if you can appreciate them, for instance, feeling the prime location in a hallowed place. The architecture makes you feel that little has changed since the hotel was opened at the end of the...

Luxurious? No. State of the art? No. impeccable service? No. once in a life time bucket list filling opportunity to step back in time and experience what a National Park lodge is all about and immerse yourself in the glory of the Grand Canyon? Yes. Killer views. Tons of rustic charm. Excellent food. Little touches like high power binoculars in...

Prime location on south rim of the Grand Canyon and a classic hotel, somehow doesn't add up the fantastic experience it could be. There are few views from inside the building. The room was oddly laid out. Staff ranged from very helpful to not so much so. I make these comments as I look at a very expensive hotel with...

From the perfunctory greeting at check-in to our check-out 2 days later our stay was a disaster. This American classic needs a ton of TLC to get it back into any decent hotel shape. The carpets were dirty and stained and there is virtually no sound proofing between rooms. The people walking in the room above us caused the ducting...

Beautiful view, excellent restaurant, comfortable rooms. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel because nothing else was open. The food was really good, service was outstanding. It's right on the rim with a lovely view of the canyon.

El Tovar is an historical lodge on the south rim of Grand Canyon. We were tight on time and had only one night. We made it in time for a beautiful sunset, then dinner at 7pm. Food was flavorful and service was great. Caught sunrise in the morning then had a great breakfast. We had a double bed on the...

What can you say about El Tovar. It is an American classic. You are paying for the views and the location. It is not the prettiest interior, and the room isn't going to blow you away, but hopefully you're aware of that before booking. My highest recommendations.

The building is a cool old historic one along the lines of Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone. The lobby is rustic and nicely done, but the rooms are tiny, horribly dated and the carpeting in the hallways is dirty and worn. We had the unfortunate issue of staying on the lowest floor next to the delivery entrance to the restaurant and...

So even if you don't stay at the hotel, eat there by all means and visit the gift shop. We found serious snow hats - we were snowed in! and replica china from this early railroad adventure hotel. After finding more tourist contemporary items (also good at Bright Angel), go next door to the Hopi House for Native American art...
