The Mather Campground in winter time is beautiful. Only the Pine loop was open and we reserved spot 293. My carrier T-mobile did not have any reception at all, sometime you will get notifications but is just a teaser, the phone will change from 1 bar to no service before you can

THE 101 OF MATHER CAMPGROUND OVER ALL: The best thing about Mather Campground is its proximity to views of the South Rim and the Price. While most lodging starts at $200+ per night, you can't beat the $18 per night for site. Don't expect a pristine view from Mather

I do quite a bit of family camping with my wife and two daughters. Therefore, there can be quite a lot of criteria that needs to met to ensure a successful outing. With that being said, this campground togas remained in great shape. It had been over 20-years since my last

Our first RV test camping trip with a rented Mercedes-Benz Sprinter conversion van: We spent three consecutive nights at Mather Campground. Temperatures fell to around 40 degrees Fahrenheit at night. The diesel heater worked well but we also found we slept very well with it off

Great sprawling campsite with heat and running water in the bathrooms, pay showers, pay laundry, and proximity to the Grand Canyon shuttles and Marketplace. My fiance and I were the only ones we could see who didn't have their own car... If that's you, it's totally ok, just ask

Do you know if it is ok to sleep in you car (SUV) if renting a tent site?
Don't know. Agree with calling the rangers and asking.

NO space heaters; avoid risk of fire and/or carbon monoxide. Layer clothing, use good ground pads and bring sleeping bags rated for expected temperatures or even lower. A good cap on your head will help you to stay warm as well.

How are the showers? how much do they cost? How private is it?
The showers were ok. Small/narrow, but private as in you get your own stall, but not much space when it comes to keeping your stuff together/shower itself. It wasn't anything fancy by all means, more industrial, but works just fine when you want a shower. When we were there, only 50% of their showers were working (they have about a dozen if I can remember). Plan accordingly when to take a shower so you can get in. Cost is $2 for 8 minutes.
