We spotted people on the roof of this hotel while we were walking around the marina and thought we would give it a go. Obviously the reason why you use a rooftop bar is for the views and stunning they are especially as the sun set and the marina started to light up at night. Nibbles were served with the best mojito (€11) I have had this holiday.

Hotel's Favourite
We were on the 4th Floor and had a Superior Room on the side of the hotel, The receptionist on arrival proudly announced we had been upgraded to this, but in fact we pre- booked that type of room. The reception area and the downstairs dining area do not match the rest of the hotel for luxury. Our room had a very weak wi fi signal, which only seemed to work on our Chromebook. The room was neat and tidy, but not 4 star, but the Greek star ratings are different from those in the UK. The chairs in the room need replacing as the seats sunk down when sat on them. The bathroom does not have a full size bath in it, and the shower is mounted low down on the wall over the bath. A full refurb is needed here. The Smart TV is not connected to the Internet. It only has a few stations on it, nearly all Greek and the rather boring BBC World Service in English. The bed however was very comfortable, We appreciated the use of a small fridge in the room and the kettle that is provided. We also got slippers and a white dressing gown provided. We used these to make the seats in the room more comfortable. We had a problem with the flush on the toilet and the Greek handyman who came to fix it spoke good English and did the job quickly and was friendly. On the day we were leaving I heard the receptionist tell some new guests checking in not to drink the water in the room because it was salty. We received no such warning and had to discover this for ourselves. After boiling the water and letting it cool it still tasted salty. There is no drinking water available anywhere in Zante we learnt. Breakfast was excellent, but due to Covid precautions we had to stand behind a line, have our temperature taken, and ask the staff there to serve us food. Maria was by far one of the most helpful staff on duty, although all the others were as well and spoke English. The staff are very generous with the food as well. There were not a lot of people staying so serving was quick. The Evening Meal was often too late for us at 7.30pm. We asked for a discount when we went on trips and were tired after them, and missed 3 meals eating out instead, this was refused by the reservations staff, I enjoyed the meals because they were meat orientated. My wife only really enjoyed the last meal, as all the main courses lacked vegetables or salad. The starter was normally a salad, and that had to be saved to go with the main course. Unfortunately the portions served for the last meal were massive and we both had to leave some. The size of the 3 profiteroles for dessert, were too large, unhealthy as well. We were the only people for dinner that night, and we assume the chef was not used to serving. We had evening meals in the Restaurant on the roof, but when the weather changed on the last few days this was closed for the season. This also meant that when the sun shone, we could not sit on the roof and enjoy the sunshine and view. Or swim in the pool. The pool is salty and very cold, but we managed 3 swims there. We brought our own swimming towels, the hotel does not provide these. We had to sit on benches which were on the harbour promenade, instead. This is not a very relaxing way to soak up the sun when the hotel cannot provide an alternative to the roof garden. Having said all this, we had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff on reception and in the Restaurant and Roof Garden were very helpful, friendly and upbeat all the time. We also managed two trips whilst we stayed there, and enjoyed those too. The hotel may not be in a position financially to refurb the bedrooms and bathrooms after the Covid lockdowns, but that would bring this hotel up to date. The wi fi could be improved on the 4th Floor. The corridors and laminate on floors also could be improved as it makes the hotel seem dated.

The staff at this hotel was very helpful with any question we had for them. The Breakfast was very good and a plus for the tourist trying to make the most of their time on the island. The rooftop bar has a lovely view, it was very nice to relax and have a drink with the view. The sound in the hallways does carry/loud floors, so a few rowdy tourist may be heard. There was no shelf in the bathroom for tooth brushes etc., which may be an issue. But most bathrooms in Greece are the same. We appreciated the safe in the room. We had just left Kefalonia that was very laid back and informal , this hotel was a lot like Zante a little more formal. I would still recommend this hotel. I cant argue with the reviews of a less than friendly staff but masks and Covid have made all of us smile less these days.

I don't know where to start .... Booked Strada Marina online based on location, pictures and ratings . I just wish I've read only bad reviews . Worst hotel I've ever been in my life !. On arrival : receptionist spoke little English, very miserable, no smile at all. When you check-in , you don't feel welcome. Plus you have to pay extra on top of what you've already paid. Room : outdated with very unpleasant smell (apparently all rooms are for nonsmokers but in our on the table was ashtray!!) . Bathroom : small , lacking in comfort, impossible to open the door and enter at the same time , water - extremely salty , shower head - situated at waist hight, shower curtain - yellow , bottom brown (it was probably wite decades ago). Wi-Fi: poor (on your arrival you receive a tiny piece of paper with password). Bed : extremely hard , we didn't sleep well for 9 nights ;( Only one plug socket !!! Very noisy (housekeepers walking up & down , chatted very loud). Staff : rude , communication in English - not easy . Food : dull / same every day ;( On our first morning we went downstairs for breakfast , it was a long queue, very unpleasant man showed us (spoke little English) to wear masks and to wait , waited patiently, when was our turn , 2 ladies impatiently waited for our order (not allowed to serve yourself, everything behind the yellow line). We didn't know what was on offer, our first breakfast was "one big mistake" . Going to Greece I was expecting to try some traditional Greek food, instead had to eat every morning same tasteless food. If you cross the yellow line you will get "told off" by the staff !!! Forget to find a clean table !!! No clean tables to sit at . You cannot get less tea than here , I'd say 50ml water in a tiny cup with only 2 choices for tea. And now the best ! Every day you HAVE to listen Italian music (in Greece) , especially one song (on & on) . We had to wear masks but all staff kept them on but always under the nose! Beach : advertised very close but you won't find any civilised beaches in Zante. We stayed on the 4th floor , huge leak on ceiling from the swimmingpool as the room was right under. We were expecting to get a lovely room (as in hotel description/photos) but unfortunately it was manager's choice - 2 single beds together , the view - won't comment . Not what you EXPECT from 4* hotel !! The best was only the roof garden with a small swimming pool but not enough (for 112 rooms) sun beds - only 12! Pool bar : very expensive. Maybe decades ago Strada Marina had a good reputation and reviews but I wouldn't recommend it , 2 star would be too much !!! . We will NOT return to this hotel .

The hotel is nice and in a perfect position, close the city center, the harbour and to many good restaurants. The best is the its roof garden with a small nice swimming pool where we spent some relaxing time after a running day. The personnel is nice with some exceptions, but overall I would say they are helpful. The rooms are ok, even if the one we stayed was a bit small. I think I will go there again

Nice clean comfortable room, very good breakfast, very friendly employees, easy to park outside (unless it’s high season). Comfortable bed and pillows. The roof garden has a 360 breathtaking view to the port and the mountain. A view that makes you want to stay for hours. Very good food and exceptional service. Only one disadvantage that can be important to coffee lovers. Very bad coffee everywhere. They need to fix this. The breakfast coffee is served from a machine with coffee options but whatever you choose the taste remains annoyingly the same! Even the Greek coffee was not good. Apart from that I would be totally satisfied. If I was to stay again I would definitely bring my own coffee and coffee maker. 😊

We’ve stayed at the Strada Marina numerous times over the past 10years. It has unrivalled views over the harbour and the roof top bar is popular. It is dated inside, the furniture is good quality in the rooms but the bathrooms are small and cramped and lacking in comfort. The beds are hard and the curtains are not black-out so as soon as the sun rises the room is filled with light. Only one plug socket in the room that worked! There have been some improvements but whoever thought cheap laminate on the corridor floors was a good idea is mistaken. Very noisy and creaky. Combined with housekeeping walking up and down and chatting on a Sunday morning at 9am not a good experience. Sadly it feels shabby and neglected, it had a good reputation and that is probably down to location but it doesn’t compare to other hotels in the town we’ve stayed in that are more comfortable and modern. We would miss the views from the balcony but when we return next spring will reluctantly go elsewhere that provides a more comfortable break

I will start with the good first. This hotel is well located near the main square. We had a balcony overlooking the port which was beautiful. Everything in the room was great, very clean, large and spacious with the largest mirror ever. The roof top pool was lovely. Unfortunately we had to leave early because 3 men were in the pool spitting into it. Absolutely disgusting. Roof top bar was lovely too with great views and nice to have a drink and watch the world go by. The bad- went down for breakfast and was greeted with a queue,we waited patiently and when it was our turn a staff member was impatiently waiting for you to tell her what you wanted(you were not allowed to serve yourself) we had been queuing around the corner so had no idea what was on offer and I and my partner prefer to have a look first before you decide what you want. Not possible. And be careful not to cross the line to have a look because you’ll get told off by the staff. When we eventually got our food, there were no clean tables to sit at(the staff were too busy serving you and telling you off). My partner got a “hot” breakfast which was flat cold. They had no normal teabags, you had to ask for everything. Spoon, knife milk. It was exhausting. We checked out early(I really want a nice cup of tea from somewhere else). There was a queue at reception and like good civil British people we waited in line. A gentleman turned up and stood near the front of reception, when we got to the front of the queue the woman on reception thought it would be ok to serve the gentleman before us. We slammed the our key on the desk and walked out. Very poor customer service and for that reason will not return to this hotel.

I don’t even know how to begin. The bathroom is something horrible, you can’t open the door and enter at the same time. It smells horrible and the water is very salty. The worst part of it all may be the bed. It’s impossible to have a good night’s rest without breaking your back. The rooms are really old, outdated, and the smell is unpleasant. Breakfast is dull and the same everyday. And now ladies and gentlemen, the worst of all: the noises. Water running and splashing, pipes almost exploding (hell of a noise) people having sex, cleaning staff smashing and breaking, you can hear absolutely anything and can’t sleep even if you are in a coma. The sounds make it impossible. The location is great but I can’t find another advantage. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. 2 stars would be too much, sorry.
