We stayed at this property as we were doing the rail trail. The hotel was adequate and we met many of the villagers as they were out at a gathering in the pub. The hotels atmosphere was warm and inviting. The dinner let it down. The fish and chips were greasy and not very nice and the Seafood Chowder didn't...

Character pub setting with a character manager as well - Adrian, and ex Aucklander who saw the light and moved to Naseby. Loved the round pool table. Very obliging and helpful to our group of six, put on a great breakfast for us. Thank you. We'll be back one day.

Stopped into naseby again but this time when to the ancient Briton, on a scale of 1 to 10 I have to give it a 10, owner when out of his way to cater to my kids and their food types , really liked that, completely different than the royal pub at the bottom

We stopped in at the Ancient Briton while on the rail trail looking for somewhere to eat. This hotel certainly provided us with a very warm welcome, lots of atmosphere and a fantastic meal. The hotelier was incredibly friendly and the wait staff was also excellent. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for great hospitality and a...

Joined a boisterous gathering of Red Hatters here for a coronation lunch. Great ambience - roaring fires, mounted deer heads and local memorabilia. Nice to see the bartender in theme with his red hat! The food was well presented and delicious - accolades to the chef. Do try this pub when you are in the area, well worth a visit.

We visited the Ancient Briton for dinner at the weekend and were very impressed. The hotel is one of the original goldfield hotels, and still has many period features and decor. The walls are lined with photos of people and activities from earlier times. It was a really cold night (zero degrees when we left at 9pm!) but the hotel was...

I went for a recce while the family went ice skating and ended up having dinner with the family upon return from skating. Three warm log fires burning and great friendly locals to chat with. We had dinner and we all were very happy with our meals. I would highly recommend the Mussels with cod and chorizo, wife had massive...

Pub grub at pub grub prices. Nice fire burning. Locals talking about farming and curling. A cat and a dog wandering around. Very rustic. Its a bit grubby, but it is a good place to drop in for some local historic atmosphere.

I bought a group of 34 people through Naseby last week on tour. Half of us stayed here and we all thought the accommodation was perfect for the price. It was clean and tidy and whilst it is basic-ish, it is more than adequate and very comfortable (the beds were great!!) The food was fantastic and the hospitality and organisation...

Way below. Very average room in every respect given the cost & comparing that cost with others we are staying with on the trail. Average small room, horrible bathroom, no kitchenette, TV or anything other than free Internet. The restaurant on the other hand was terrific. Good service & good country fare.
