What an incredible place to stay on the west coast of New Zealand! We drove to the lodge through a heavy down pour of rain. The weather obscured any view and we had no idea of what was around us. Our hosts were delightful, the...More
This is a really special place.Despite the cost for NZers, it was worth it for the tranquility of the area and the extra efforts of the host and staff. We came away refreshed and able to face the challenges of the wilderness, which were considerable in...More
This Lodge is truly special.Comfortable rooms with a beautiful view of the river.really great food, good service and an amazing wine list.. Check out the range of NZ Pinot Noir which is really fairly priced. The local area is spectacular. The proprietors go out of...More
Our family of five spent one night at the lodge. In the short time we were there we had a gourmet dinner, evening tour and hike to see gloworms, and a morning guided hike/kayak led by Jerry, one of the owners. He taught us a...More

Hi. sorry i did not see your post. I can't comment on the price because i honestly don't remember but it is a beautiful place. elegant, relaxing, great atmosphere, and in the meantime you can spend some hours kayaking, hiking, bird watching or just hanging out in the lodge. the owners have some activities planned for each day ( glow worm watching at night), eel feeding, bird watching, etc) you might still be able to catch some pinguin watching from the beach off the resort . this place is a great stop in between destinations but make sure you give yourself some time to enjoy it . we loved it there

Definitely contact Gerry or the lodge. There were none in February. The guided walks all seem to be out from the Lodge..some to the beach, some through forest. We only saw bird life like white egrets, but they were pretty special, and they were near the Lodge intself or Lake Moeraki..which is close and on one of their trails.
