We canvassed friends “where to stay in Tokyo?” Their universal opinion was “Shinjuku”. So, off we went to research a suitable hotel for our seven day stay. Tokyo is expensive, but we found Premier Hotel Cabin well priced at $AUD 110 a day plus it is in an excellent location with short walks to train transport, bars, cafes and restaurants. Another plus is that nearby streets are free from cars after dark – a pedestrian’s paradise, so to speak. The hotel is reasonably modern and has good facilities in rooms; coffee and tea making facilities, refrigerator, toiletries supplied, telephone and free Wi-Fi. The rooms are pretty tiny by our standards, but hey, used mainly for sleeping! Breakfast is an additional Y1,100 ($AUD 14) per person but worth it. There is a good selection of Asian and European hot food including meats; I mention meats because many breakfasts these days do not include it. Reception seemed to always be attended, staff are friendly and have good to reasonable English skills. There is one thing that could be improved; a space with tables for guests to catch up on mail, internet, etc. Yes our room had Wi-Fi, but just one seat (a backless footstool really) and we used under the desk space for one of our rather large bags. The breakfast room has several long benches at the entrance which could serve the purpose, but the room is locked after 10am. Being a non-smoking hotel (Yay!), there is a smoking room on the ground floor, but not nice for a non-smoker to inhabit just to use the table therein. The crunch is; would we stay there again if we ever return to Tokyo? The answer is a definite YES.

Our stay was fine. The room was cosy and small but did the job. The room had a safe and a fridge which was good. Safe hotel in Shinjuku but close to hospital so we heard sirens in the night but wasn’t too bad

We booked for the newly renovated semi double room - room is clean, a bit small but all good. You'll get free bottled water and tea bags everyday. Really good breakfast (croissants are buttery!).. Location is near Higashi Shinjuku station, really close to 7-11 and Family Mar too.

Far walk from train station, especially walking thru the busy spots crowded with people. Area was nice & quiet spot. Good selection of attractions & food nearby. Hotel offered free water bottles, nice slippers & beds.

We stayed at the Premier Hotel - Cabin - Shinjuku for three nights in August 2018. The location of the hotel is very good and you can easily walk to everything in Shinjuku. However, we were two people and the room is really small for anymore than one person. The staff, however, are very friendly and helpful. When we hiked up Mt. Fuji they held our luggage until we came back.
