My first time to Sri Lanka and I stayed 3 nights at Mirissa Hills. After a long flight and road trip from Colombo I arrived to my room in the top house to the smell of cinnamon and the sights of green cinnamon bushes outside my room. If you are looking for tranquility this is it. It would be a...

They have three buildings named Bungalow, Museum and Mount Cinnamon Bungalow the latter two had separate pools. We stayed at Museum as the main Cinnamon Bungalow was booked, where the rooms were small but had all amnesties required. During our stay we were the only occupants at the Museum We went to Cinnamon Bungalow for meals which had an excellent...

Supposed to be a little luxurious treat. We did have the Bungalow which his the cheapest accommodation which is ranged over a very very steep hill. So steep and unsurfaced that local tuk tuks will not take you to the top where the swanky Museum and Gallery are. The hotel has a three wheeler which attempts to take you to...

A wonderful 6 days in a beautifully tranquil setting. The art collection is wonderful, the style fabulous - everything top class. Would revisit in a heartbeat! The property is on the side of a hill, a bungalow at the bottom, part way up is ”The Museum“ and at the top is the main part of the hotel with dining room...

What a gem! Removed from the hurly burly of the beach and the main road, up a winding unsealed road. Don't despair as you enter for the first time, this place is exquisitely designed and perfectly executed. Staff are helpful, meals are taken in beautiful surroundings with superb vistas to the cinnamon plantation. We stayed in the mid range building...

We had such a special time exploring the cinnamon plantation. It was pouring with rain when we arrived, but our wonderful host Thilak really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome, warm and comfortable. We were welcomed with some delicious cinnamon tea and snacks which we enjoyed overlooking the beautiful garden full of tropical birds. When the rain...

We stayed in Mirissa Hills for two nights, which I would highly recommend for a quiet getaway!! There are three different buildings (which they fail to mention online) which are quite a distance apart up a large hill. They do have their own tuk tuk, so you don't have to walk it every time but be prepared for a bumpy...

Together with a group of 7 friends, I stayed at the villa atop Mount Cinnamon over the New Year period. I feel compelled to write a short summary of our stay there, as the villa became our sanctuary for our entire trip. The villa surpassed all of our expectations in every possible way - it is a stunning, beautifully furnished...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Mirissa Hills, one of the finest cinnamon estates southern Sri Lanka can offer. Spend your time wining and dining in our fabulous restaurant, famed for the magical local cuisine and western surprises, or enjoy a night in one of three totally unique and boutique luxury villas aboard the estate. At the top of the hill you will find yourself transported into an architectural jewel, designed by the infamous C. Anjalendran, protege to the late and great Geoffrey Bawa. Mount Cinnamon has panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Enjoy high tea of scones and cake whilst your eye wanders from paddy fields, mountains, jungle, all the way to the Weligama coastline. The contrast between contemporary and modern is done flawlessly from the flow of the building to the furniture that adorns this spacious home. The second property, called The Cinnamon Museum is home to a boutique restaurant (currently being renovated) where you can try the all the delights Sri Lanka has too offer, experience a traditional English high tea with cakes using our very own cinnamon. Western dishes are also available and are truly a gourmet experience. Come for the day and enjoy the beautiful views whilst relaxing by the infinity pool, lose yourself amongst the cinnamon trails or stay in one of four rooms decorated with hand chosen works of art and modern bathroom facilities. The final property is stooped in historical charm, over one hundred years in age, The Bungalow is the original estate building. The walls and floors are adorned with traditional furnishings to transport you back in time to by gone Ceylon. We also have a luxury tent perfect for a nights "glamping" experience, wake up amongst the cinnamon and enjoy a coffee whilst admiring the view of our whole estate. So join us for the day, book a room or occupy the entire property and enjoy a relaxing experience in the heart of Sri Lankan culture. ... more   less
